DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET HERE!!! We had to board our furry baby somewhere last minute because our normal place had to close unexpectedly the day of drop off...I should have done more research on this place before leaving my sweet girl! When we dropped our dog off, the man was very hasty and rude and shoved her in the back before we even said goodbye or signed anything and our dog was terrified because it all happened so fast! (And she is not a little dog - about 45 pounds and was still scared!). When we picked her up a week later she was unbelievably dirty...filthy actually. She plays hard and I have never seen her look so disgusting...covered in a deep coat of dirt from head to toe and her collar was so disgusting we have to replace it. As if those few things weren't bad enough, we noticed she had wounds literally all over her body (stomach, two legs, deep cut on her snout, and smaller wounds on her face - at least 5 more on her face...). Everything was scabbed over but looked terrible!! The cut on her snout is bad enough that we need to make a vet appointment! She also quivers when she takes deep breaths.... NOT NORMAL! What the heck did this place allow to happen to my dog?? I understand that dogs play hard, but something literally attacked my dog and she is so beat up it breaks my heart. Taj Ma Paw never contacted us to let us know that she was attacked or so beat up...again, let me stress that these are not normal wounds at all. On one of her legs there are literally claw marks in a row that are now scabbed over. I am livid and will NEVER recommend this place and will certainly NEVER take my dog there again. BEWARE!
The Good and the Bad
I recently adopted a young shepherd mix from the pound who suffers from a bit of seperation anxiety. I looked into different day cares to help her transition and Taj mapaw was the most convenient location and the most reasonable. I stopped in before taking my dog there and the staff was happy to show me around. I got to see everything, kennels, play yards (there are 3) as well as the grooming areas. My dog adores the owner and is quite friendly with the majority of the staff. I've noticed people have not found the owner very nice but he has always been friendly, but occasionally a little brief. It took her a few days to warm up to it but she now loves going and is pleasantly worn out at the end of the day (which is a blessing given her energy level). I am still training he to be calmly bathed and she is deathly afraid of hoses but they were still able to get her clean. I was impressed and i appreciated that they stopped short of drying her when she became uncomfortable.
There are some down sides. The play areas are dirt so she comes home a little dirty on rainy days. I asked them to keep her quiet for one day shortly after surgery and they disregarded that request (luckily she was unharmed). So there you have it. I'm going to follow my dog's lead, as long as she happily goes in, I'll keep taking her.
BEST PLACE TO WORK EVER with a great boss – Hello.. this is to just say i was employed there and LOVED my job.. Chris is the best boss anybody could ask for.. i kept the animals happy loved and spoiled rotten.. the place was clean.. now of coarse you havea nimals here so its going to get a lil messy.. but yet in a moments notice it was clean again there are repeated customers over and over.. so if you get a chance to work there.. take it and keep due to my health i had to leave.. but if i can come bk P/T id take it.. every body including the dogs love that place.
BEST EXPERIENCE EVER – I HAVE BEEN TO SEVERAL PLACES, BUT NOTHING COMPARES WITH TAJMAPA. MY DOG LIKES IT MORE THERE SOMETIMES THAN HOME! HAHA! TERESA WAS SUPER AND SO CURTIOUS AND SO WAS EVERYONE ELSE!!
Highly Recommended – Taj Mapaw is great, my dog actually enjoys going. The people and service are great. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Do not be fooled – Notice the only good reviews are grouped within a few days, and the names all resemble current employees.
This was a terrible place to work and watch the animals often be left unattended. In some cases they were injured and simply wrapped up (cuts, fractures) and the owner of the pet was not even called. The owner is extremely sexist and will choose a pretty girl half his age over experience every time. There are much safer places for your loving pet.
Best Pet Care – I enjoy the services that Taj Mapaw provides for my baby Stella. My Jack Russell, Stella enjoys everyday she goes there for doggie day care. She plays with all the others dogs, gets taken out, fed, and recieves lots of attention from the great employees too. By the time Stella is ready to go home she falls asleep in the car because she is so tried from all the excitiment she has had at Taj Mapaw
Happy Dogs – Wow, I was simply amazed. I really don't know what I was expecting when I walked in but I was amazed. I have been looking for a one stop establishment for my dog and I was driving down Franklin Rd. and decided to stop in. I was first greeted by a group of very friendly dogs peering over a half door then soon after a nice young lady came out to assist me. She insisted I take a tour and she answered all my questions with confidence, I knew right away my dog would love the TajMapw. Yes I was right I tried out the day care program and came back to a very tired pet that to my amazement did not want to leave. Next time daycare and a groom. Thank you so much.
great service – I have been dealing with Taj Mapaw for many years now and the staff is very friendly and absolutely loves dogs. The dogs have so much fun while there and are constantly watched via monitors. the groomers are very knowlegable and great with the animals and do such a wonderful job. I would recommend the Taj Mapaw to all my friends and family.
Never keep my dog there again! – I will never take my dog there again, dog owners beware!!! I was greeted by a very rude man who hastily took my dog to the back of his establishment came back to make me sign a paper, basically stating, if something happened to my dog taj ma paw was not liable. In the lobby there is a monitor, when I asked if where he took my dog he told me, look she is right there, pointing to a blurry image of a dog with a long tail. I told him that was funny that her tail grew from being bobbed. Then he told me she was behind the shed, pointing to another blurred image that was hard to make out. After leaving I had a bad feeling that I should have asked to see the kennel they were keeping my dog. When I came to pick her up, she was extremely dirty with thick black sooty dusty dirt. She had just been groomed before leaving her there and had to take her to be bathed since this soot was deep in her coat. She drake water and ate like she hadn’t had anything since I left her. My husband, after meeting the owner for the first time, stated he could tell that obviously this man did not like dogs and had no customer service skills. She was so happy to see us and was even trying to jump over the half or dutch door to get out of there before he could open it. We recently moved to Roanoke and were hoping we could find a good kennel that we can trust to leave our dog, guess we have to keep looking.
