I have purchased tires, or had them
serviced for a dozen different cars, over the past 5 years, using Discount Tire locations in Bellevue, Kirkland (Totem Lake), and now Seattle (Northgate). In every instance they have been attentive, courteous, professional, and knowledgable.
I used to buy all my tires online, to get the best price, and have them mounted locally. While I saved some money, I wasn't supporting my local businesses. I talked to one of the guys at Discount and they said, "No problem! We'll match any legitimate advertised price, even on the web. Just bring in the add, or the web page, showing the correct tire size in the shopping basket, with shipping charges applied. We'll match it." So I tried it out. Without question or hassle, they have honored that every time. And even those times I forgot to bring in the pricing sheet, they have looked it up on the web for me, and got the pricing from Tire Rack, and then honored it! They take the pice with shipping as your tire price with them, and then add mounting and balancing, tax, and your out the door. It couldn't be easier, cheaper, or more fair! In fact, on two occasions, they couldn't get as good a price from their warehouse, and they purchased the tires from Tire Rack for me, on their account, and had them drop shipped to them on my behalf, and didn't charge me anything extra!
They have even discount the Road Hazard Certificates by 50%, for being a loyal customer. I never have paid for any follow-up service, such as rebalance or rotation, and they fix all my flats for free.when I had a tire blow out, even though I didn't have a Road Hazard Certificate, they discounted the tire by 50%, just for being a good customer!
Why go to the hassle of buying them on the web, having to haul them around yourself, and not keep the money local, when you get value and service like this?
Don't go here. They put the wrong size tires on my truck. Accused me of requesting them when I went back.
Attempted Scam at Discount Tire.
I've been a LOYAL customer to Discount Tire for years, having purchased multiple sets of wheels and tires from them for a variety of vehicles. I always thought their prices were fair, and service was professional.
HOWEVER, this summer they managed to strip 4 lug bolts on my car, and tried to argue it wasn't their fault because I must've had another shop do work on my car (thus Discount cannot be blamed for the damage). Once I explained that they are the only Tire Shop I go to, they conceded to pay for the repair, yet required me to spend the time and money to get it repaired (later refunding the cost). I was OK with that experience. They took me on my word (after a brief argument), and ended up footing the bill.
Recently, I took my car in with a leaking tire, hoping they could repair it for me. After inspecting the tire, they informed me that it could not be repaired due to the area where the nail penetrated the tire. They said I would have to replace all 4 tires (because it's an all wheel drive car) and the cost would be over $1300 (I buy nice tires). I asked if there's ANYWAY they could fix it, they said "No"'
I then informed them that I had purchased the tires through them, and was sure I paid for insurance on the tires (to insure against expenses such as these). They failed to notice this, but once they found this to be true, they said I would receive all 4 new tires for $410 (meaning Discount Tire would have to eat around $900). After a minute, they came back and said "Actually, we can now fix the tire."
When they thought I had no insurance on Tires = Tire cannot be fixed = $1300 cost.
Once they realized I had Insured the Tires = Tire can be fixed = FREE.
Funny how that works...
