47.627308 -122.166557Temple Kung-Fu. I have been a member of AKMA Kung Fu for over two years and have played competitive sports for over 25 years. If you are looking to improve your overall physical conditioning, learn self-defense, and/or really learn a true martial art, this is the place to do it. The staff at AKMA is 100% focused on helping very client attain any or all of these goals. Every martial art studio holds group classes. These provide for great workouts and include the most popular exercise concepts today such as periodization and muscle-confusion. These concepts for the basis of P90x, many other structured programs, and most personal training programs. At the heart of AKMA is their 1:1 sessions to really teach you the proper techniques which make all of the difference in the world in self-defense situations. The staff remains incredibly respectful while constantly encouraging you to improve and be your best.
Money sink.
These people merely want your money. Basically, you have to be ready to bring legal action against them in order to get out of the contract that they tell you at the beginning that they will cancel if you can no longer come.
After a lot of research, I discovered that their contracts are not legally binding. They do not (as of six months ago) have what's called the "buyer's remorse" clause that Washington state law requires them to have. And they know it. So they will insist that their contracts are binding. If you have real trouble with them, just threaten to lodge a complaint against them with the state Attorney General's office. And then, if they still try to insist, DO lodge that complaint. After all, if they get busted by the AG (and trust me, I talked to two different lawyers who said that it was clear they were in knowing violation of the law), they won't be able to collect any more money.
Oh, and if they try to give you the "our contract collection company handles that," don't waste your time calling that company. I know from personal experience that they can tell that company not only to stop billing you but to refund you money and can get the whole thing done in less than a week. The receptionist there is a very accomplished liar and will spin you all sorts of stories, all contradictory, and all nonsense. The Master will NEVER return a call. She's the only one you'll be able to deal with, even though she will claim she can't do anything. Just go in there knowing your rights, send them letters that clearly state your case (return receipt, of course, so they can't claim they never got them), and be prepared to file that complaint with the AG.
Here's the statute they are in violation of: Just Google "RCW 19.142.040" and follow the link to the WA Legislative page. Look at the bottom of the page for Provision 9, Buyer's Right to Cancel
And good luck in the search for a decent martial arts studio.
Temple Kung Fu studios.
I joined, payedmy dues in advance, and got the shaft by the owners and instructors. Very nice people until a xchange happened.
I have many years experane in working out, and was omplemented by the instructors.
After a few monthes many of the younger people were being promoted, instructors did not how up for test ,lost paper work, in short they just wanted my money! did not care for me as a student!!
Thuis a very expensive school.
I haverepeadedly contacted theowne, HE IS NEVER IN! I went o the bellevue store, caught him there, he said he would get back to me; that was a year ago.
I was happy with the raining, not happy with the service they provide AND FEEL I GOT SCREWED.
This week i am contacting the___, Small Claimes and writing letters to other instructors in the area. I have contacted herb Wisebaln KIRO and will again if I do Not get satisfaction. ALL I WANT IS A PHONE CALL FROM A SO CALLED MASTER OF THE MARTIAL ARTS. If this is how he handels even one student, how many more.
I am now in a difrent 'sholin school, much less expensive and happy to be treated the way i was promised.
bUYER BE WARE IN THIS CASE and I'm only beginning
I think it's great.... I'm a newbie, but so far so good - I have private classes and group classes, my instructor is great and I feel better already :-).
