Great place to train and grow! Almost 12 years ago I stopped searching and started training. The Bellevue Academy of Koei-Kan Karate-Do had everything in a martial arts dojo I was looking for. Under the guidance and encouragement of Sensei Sharif Robles and I have realized no challenge is too large.
Koei-Kan encourages the student to train within the physical discipline and focus just as much in the mental. The history and philosophy of Koei Kan and it founders influences makes it an art for young and old alike. My son's experience has been instrumental towards his growth and building confidence to be a leader on his sports teams and school.
Koei kan is works for all ages and skills. Whether your interest is building discipline, cross training for other sports, overall physical and mental growth or finding a great program for your child's development in a VERY encouraging setting, Koei Kan is your complete martial arts academy.
Take some time and visit the school, meet Sensei Robles and try it out!
I joined Koei-Kan of Bellevue two years ago, with the twin goals of getting into shape and reconnecting my body and mind. Six months in, I'd accomplished that goal and began setting new ones. In the process, the Bellevue dojo has become a home away from home, the sessions a necessary part of my routine. It's a way to channel the stresses of life into transformative energy. I'm stronger, healthier, and have a better understanding of my capabilities and limitations.
The dojo's chief instructor, Sharif Robles, is dedicated to helping all students meet their potential. Indeed, he's created a dojo culture where all students help one another. It's common for black belts to lead impromptu classes, focusing on those skills that will help that group of students the most. The dojo has a truly family atmosphere, one that fosters learning and exploration.
great place to learn and work out. – After I've moved from California, I have checked out many karate dojo within drivable distance (include Seattle area) before pick a karate dojo in here. Please go to see many place before start, I'm sure you will be back to this place like me. :)
Keeping great traditional karate spirit/manner, awesome teachers and upper belt people has great skills, exchanging techniques.
Great for kids as well. these kids know how to respect people, not only karate skills. great for build strong mind and body.
Pictures don't do it Justice! – This place is much better then the pictures here demonstrate. The inside has Tatami mats covering most of the floor, with mirrors for checking your form and plenty of kicking and punching targets.
The people are extremely friendly, most will welcome you and be willing to help with any questions you might have or to take you through a workout if you came between one of the class times.
The classes are some of the hardest workouts in the city. They are all new and customized to who's in attendance by the Sensei and could include anything from kicks and punches to sparring and kata. If you get a chance you have to check out the Thursday classes!
