My vote for Kirkland's best traditional barber shop.
Relaxed and comfortable, A Touch of Class is a traditional barber shop that's been on Kirkland's Lake Street for three decades. The atmosphere reminds me of the bar on the TV show "Cheers" - very welcoming and friendly.
The barbers are all experienced so I always get a consistent haircut. I had been going to Bombaii Cutters and seemed to get a different beauty school graduate (and different haircut) every time, followed by the hard sell on product.
I did like their punch-card program, until I realized I was enduring 10 sketchy haircuts just to get the 1 free one.
Memorably, I got the worse haircut of my life there from a guy that looked like Joe Walsh.
I also tried The Shop on Lake Street. They have a sign-in sheet there and you get a random person cutting your hair each time, based on their rotation system.
The faster they cut your hair, the sooner they get their next customer in the chair, so they're going as fast as they can. Granted it's not brain surgery, but still, speed is not your friend.
Both those shops have the loud music going which is great if you're club-hopping, but for a haircut, not so much.
If you're looking for a good haircut at a friendly place A Touch of Class is for you.
