A wonderful place – MaryJaneWatson06,

I must have worked with you at some point, since I was an employee at Kid's Country for nearly 4 years and just recently left this last August. I have to say, I never had any interaction with corporate, but the local management was amazing. The fact that they did work with your school SCHEDULE (spell check is a wonderful tool...) is amazing, and I doubt you will find that anywhere else. Tamara and Jenny were two of the most caring, compassionate, respectful, and flexible supervisors I have ever had. They care a great deal about their employees and the children. I'm not sure how long you were an employee, but as far as not providing trainings...we had staff meetings every month in which they provided those trainings. These trainings included: autism, dyslexia, naptime routines, meal time routines...just to name a few. Tamara and Jenny have also always been very willing to help their employees whenever they had questions or were having a difficult time in their classrooms. The teachers are wonderful people who also care a lot about the children. If there was ever a time that someone thought their child wasn't being "handled" correctly (I'm pretty sure we are all CAPABLE of handling them correctly...we aren't idiots), the parent can always ask to have the videos reviewed from the classroom. Tamara and Jenny have never hesitated to go through hours upon hours of recorded video, or to monitor the classroom all day to ease a parent's concerns.

I'm not sure how to even respond to your comment about moldy food. If you truly found this, and you really care, why didn't you report it to the licensor? Tom is great about coming out to check on that kind of stuff. Tamara (the director) has a good relationship with the licensor and instead of avoiding him, welcomes him and even calls to clarify information at times. I ate the food at Kid's Country for four years, and NEVER got sick :) Nor have I ever seen mold at Kid's Country, served mold, or heard about mold at Kid's Country...you get the point. Anyone reading these reviews should use common sense. If there was truly mold in the food, the kids would be sick.

Littlefoot,

I remember you quite well. Before you come on here stating that there were fingernail marks on your child's bottom, BE SURE that they weren't your own child's fingernails. It's pretty ridiculous to think that anyone would WANT to scratch your child's butt, for any reason. If your child's diaper rash was this bad, maybe you should have had him checked for yeast, which would also explain the itching... :)

All in all, Kid's Country was an amazing place to work. It was a second home to me. Tamara and Jenny are amazing and take great care of the facility, employees, and children. They were always flexible with my schedule and are extremely caring. They worked with my schedule through school, and I now have the career that I

Not A Good Place. – Basically I was an employee there for quite a while and was treated horribly. I only stayed because they worked with my school scheduel, but got out once I was able to do so. Corporate and local management are so rude and disrespectful to their employees, and even to parents behind their backs. More than once food was brought to classrooms with mold on it. And once my boss even told me to serve the ones without mold even though they were all put in the same container. Which is completely discusting. I understand children need to be involved with other children, which this day care provides. The teachers are also great people, but most of the time cannot handle certain situations correctly. Not because they do not want to, but because they are not capable because management will not provide the ways to do so. Overall I would seek childcare elsewhere or even a private provider. This place is just to sketchy.

Child Neglect – If I had the ability to give this establishment a negative rating I would do so for their inability to provide the minimum requirements of childcare. My son was at Kids Country in Maple Valley for 2 months and in that two months there were three incidents.

Incident #1 My child came home with fingernail marks on his butt.

Incident #2 My son experienced the absolute worst diaper rash covering his entire lower extremeties. It was almost impossible to change him due to his blood curling screams from the pain. (Just to give you some insight, he never experienced diaper rash at all in his first 1 1/2 years of life while he was under my care...(I was a stay at home father during this time period).

Incident #3 I showed up to pick my son up from the daycare and the staff noticed my son was limping and she thought he needed a diaper change. I was in a hurry to get to a meeting and almost changed him in the car myself, but I figured why not. When she took off his diaper his leg had an acid burn so bad on his leg from sitting in a soiled diaper so long that the afternoon staff member was in utter shock and asked me to bring in the manager. I complied and then left with my son immediately as I did not want to make a scene in front of the otherr children.

The following day I spoke with the Director and explained that we were disenrolling our son due to their inability to provide what I consider one of the staples of basic childcare.

After a long discussion the director assured me that my son would be well taken care of the remaining two days he had left in their care.

The last day which was today I went in to pick him up. The way that the toddler classrooms are laid out, there usually is an empty room in the evening and it shares a door to the bathroom of the room that they are using. I went into the vacant room to collect my son's belongings and I heard one of the female staff members call for my son as it was his time to use the restroom. I decided to listen to how they spoke to the children when a parent was not in the room. My son started to say da da and the staff member on the other side of the door told him to "shut up" and that he was just fine. I couldn't take anymore and I walked around the hallway to the classroom and barged in on them. The staff member was caught off guard and looked at me and said "Oh hi.....your son had a great day today with the other kids!" I just picked up my son, looked her in the eye and told her I was on the other side of the door and I heard the entire conversation. Had there not been 10 kids under the age of two in the room, I would have given this staff member a piece of my mind.

There is a complete lack of oversight at this facility on the part of the director and the management. Policies and procedures are not followed and there are times when the children outnumber the required number of staff to be present by law. A dog and pony show is presented to the parents upon arrival, but I truly would like to be an ant on the floor during the day.

I do not usually write reviews unless I am passionate about a topic or feel that it is in the best interest of other people.

I would never wish to subject another person's child to the type of operation that occurs at this location.
