Another gem in Redmond – Coming from California I've had my share of good Mexican food. El Toreador is a welcome surprise after going to places like Azteca. The food there is consistantly really good. I've tried a number of their items and haven't been disappointed with any and I've yet to have bad service as well. It's a fun place to go if you want to avoid the big chains and try something unique.
Best Family Mexican Restaurant in the Seattle Area – All of the food here is great an consistent. The chips and salsa are great and not the same old stuff that you get at other sit down Mexican restaurants. The prices here are also very cheap considering how great the food is. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Mexican food!
Best Authentic Mexican Food – Mexican Food simply doesn't get any better than this. A few favorites? The pork burrito, chicken chimichanga, or any of the seafood dishes. This is one place you can count on a savory, authentic dish where no corners are cut. The staff is friendly (especially Mark), the margaritas are great and the ambience is perfect. Get there early because the great food isn't a kept secret :) Cheers!
Possibly the best Mexican in the Northwest – What appeared to be a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant turns out to be better than the major Mexican food chains in the area. I grew up in Texas where Mexican food is plentiful and delicious. Since I have moved up to the Seattle area I had'nt found a mexican restaurant that could match up to the Tex-mex I loved soo much. I finally found El Toreador and am now a weekly customer. Sometimes the service is lacking but for the food, the margaritas, and the price you won't be dissapointed.
Goooood Fooooood! – Most of the local Mexican resturants that I've tried use the same seasoning for EVERYTHING! Not El Toreador. You can try different things and get different flavors.
The service is very friendly. I'd go there any time. Even though it's kind of small, you'll see large groups of people there eating.
poor service, good food – the waiter was distant, and we got the impression the entire meal that we were interrupting him. being that we weren't that hungry, and had never eaten there before, we apologized for our ignorance and asked if there was enough food on the fajita plate for two to share. the waiter seemed generally uninterested and incapable of making a recommendation. the drinks weren't refilled quickly. we ate at 8pm on a thursday nite. but the chips were the most amazing! and the extra salsa was really useful for the fajitas. the flavors were great. we'll go back. everyone has a bad night now and again. :)
Best Mexican Food on the Eastside – The food at El Toreador is about 5 times better than at Las Margaritas, but for the same price. El Toreador is definitely the best Mexican restaurant on the Eastside.
RELIABLY GOOD & REASONABLY PRICED – Have been eating there for many years, once a week.. or more. Food is always good and prices very reasonable. Service is great... unless "Fast Eddie" slams it at you and leaves before you can order another drink or dessert. The rest of wait staff are wonderful, and even "Eddie" can grow on you if you don't mind his "Get'em in and get'em out" pace. Of course this works in your favor when in a hurry! Atmosphere is "Down Home Funky" and definitely worth a visit if you've not been there.
Great Tex Mex – We've been going to El Toreador's for years and have never been dissapointed in the food. The service is another matter. For the past few years, the evening staff has 2 waiter's: 1 great and 1 truly terrible. He has literally spilled food, beer and salsa on my lap over the years. I've learned to politely decline tables served by the bad waiter even at the risk of a 5 minute wait. But, the food is the reason to go. The carne asada is spicy and is served with warm flour tortillas. Other favorites include tacos, burritios and the cheese enchiladas are the best.
