It was a year ago, but since I'm seeing similar experiences thought I'd share:
Took my daughter shopping for her homecoming dress. Should have been a pleasant experience. We entered the (very small) building and received almost instant dirty looks and nasty attitude from the lady in the store. She was rude and made comments under her breath (obviously thought I couldn't hear) about my daughter while she tried on her dress. She is a plus size 18. Nowhere near huge, but very curvy. Another thing that bothered us was that she didn't give my daughter any privacy while she tried on her dress. She was peeking at her the whole time. (I'm mad now that I didn't say anything.) Unfortunately, because it was last minute we ended up buying the overpriced so-so quality dress. (Though it did look great on her.)
Very negative experience! Would never shop here again...
Like a month ago, i bought my prom dress here at Samila Boutique. Sincerely, i went to all possible prom dress stores in Seattle, CA and finally (and thanks God) i reached Samila Boutique. The lady that works there (too bad i cant remember her name) patiently helped me try like 25 dresses until i found THE ONE. She was really sincere with her opinion of how the dresses looked on me, which helped a lot, because i had no idea what was my kind of dress. If you're searching for nice treatment, professional help and thousands of dresses to see so you can finally choose, Samila is the perfect place. You'll end up buying more than one! Thanks Samila, my prom will be the best one ever<3 I'll give this place a five star definetely.
Best Place to Buy a Dress EVER – I knew exactly what kind of dress I wanted to get and had been looking at dresses online for weeks before I went to Samila. I had actually gone online and found a dress that I liked on the Samila website but I never imagined it would be as pretty as it was when I saw it in person.
I went in to the store early on a Sunday morning because I had been in once before just to look around and it had been pretty crowded because the boutique is so small, but going in at an off-time was perfect and it was hardly crowded at all. I looked around but didn't see the dress I had liked online so I asked the manager about it. She directed me to a computer upstairs and told me to find it and show it to her (very cool I thought, loved having a computer available for customers). I found the dress I had wanted online and she said "Ohh you're very lucky, girl. We have one left just for you!" She looked all over the store for it and finally found it and brought it to me.
The dressing room situation was VERY professional. They take all of the dresses you pick out and hang them up outside of the dressing room and tell you to go in and strip down to your undies. Then they take the dresses out of the bags for you, unzip them, and hand them in to the dressing room all opened up and ready to go. They even zip the dresses for you so you don't have to worry about getting the zipper stuck. Then when you are looking in the mirror they hold the dress for you so that you can see how it would look with alterations and high heels.
I was even more impressed when I asked for help taking a dress off and as the girl helping me took the dress off, she turned around as it came off so that she was facing the other way. I thought that was a really classy and proffessional thing to do.
Overall my experience there was wonderful. There were hundreds of dresses that were all gorgeous, classy, unique, and worth every penny. The ladies who work there are very proffessional and are obviously in the right trade- they really know what they're doing. I went home and showed my dress to all my friends and told all of them to go to Samila and told them it was the best place on earth.
My mom would like me to add that she loved it too :)
If you're looking for a formal dress go to Samilas...unless you are one of these other impatient snobs who tries to trash on this place. Obviously if the place is too crowded for you then they do not need your business anyway and I'm sure Sears will welcome you with open arms.
Amazing!!!!!! – We were desperate for a prom dress and could find nothing. Heard about Samilas and called but they were closing. Jasmine stayed open late for us and found several dresses that were all perfect! We left there with a dress that would be altered in time for prom - less than a week away. This is our new store for special occasion dresses. The customer service was above and beyond!! Jasmine is the BEST!!!! Thank you.
Best Place to Buy a Dress! – Samila is my favorite dress store and i have bought 2 dresses from there in the past 2 years. The service is fantastic and like Shelby said, Yasmin remembered both out names when we were in the store this Monday. No matter the occasion they make sure that you find the dress perfect for you and they would never harass anyone. I have had one of my dresses for 2 years and it still does not have any wholes or anything. If the dress needs altering they do it for you and its perfect. I honestly don't know what store these people went to but it wasn't samila!
Horrible customer service, return policy, and dress quality – I went there to buy a formal dress, and there were holes and stains on my dress that i realized after i made my purchase. After I made my purchase, the main owner lady claimed she could not let me return anything. She said I can only exchange. I honestly could not find any other dress that matched my style but one that was good enough but i had to shell out another 70 dollars. I spent a total of 370 at that place, and I regret it very much.
The ladies that work there always act so rushed and they were like rushing me in the fitting room, telling me to hurry up and just buy the dress already in in a joking but annoying manner, and just making up lies like this will sell by tomorrow if you do not buy it now.
They use insincere sales tactics, its so pressuring and annoying. After looking back, i realize i fell for those tactics.
Sadly those sale pitches got to me, and now its too late to do anything about it because of their unfair no return policy.
never going there again, and i recommend you buying else where, like nordstrom with great customer service.
Will never buy a dress anywhere else! – For the last 2 years I have bought all of my formal dresses from Samila botique, and I plan to continue to buy my dresses there. The staff there are so friendly and genuine(particularly Yasmin, the younger manager) and the customer service is excellent (the staff recognised me and my friend immediately and even remembered our name's). I have never had an issue with returning a dress.... but then again I usually don't buy a nice, expensive prom dress without thinking it through first...
Worst experience ever... – Nothing good about this store.
Although, the one older lady employee helping my daughter try on dresses, was nice. The others need to take customer relation/business courses, particularly the younger manager. After some negotiating, the owner finally realized it was best, in all fairness to let me return the dress. The purchase had been made 45 minutes prior.
The dressing room there was terribly crowded, my daughter just wanted to get out of there, and try the dress on at home. We were told by the nice lady helping us out that we had 7 days to return the dress. My daughter did not like and also felt uncomfortable that the manager kept calling her "love". It just felt so insincere. Have heard other friends of my daughters say the same thing; they didn't like it either.
Those Swedes, the Nordstom's, are one great example/role models for us all, where happy smiles are in, and where the customer is treated fairly, and "comes first". ...So essential for any good successful business today, especially during these competitive rough economic times.
Luckily we found "the perfect dress" elsewhere, so much better quality and $$'s less. It was completely perfect, and fit my daughter to a tee. Absolutely gorgeous!! Many kudos to this other dress shop we stumbled upon. It was perfect in every way; the two young gals(employees) there were excellent A+ shining examples of kindness. The changing room was large and uncrowded. We felt so special in this particular boutique; what a relief that was...in comparison to this very unhappy earlier experience at Samila's.
Thank you for allowing me to express my story here. I'm a person that says it exactly how it is. Somehow we all go forth and learn from each other, and I think that we did. Above all, and in the end, fairness and kindness really do matter...
Excellent service and selection! – Excellent customer service and an incredible amount of dresses to choose from. Usually, we spend hours and hours looking for the perfect prom dress, but this year was so easy. The service was out of this world! I have not had service like this in well, I can't remember when. My daughter tried on about 15 dresses and easily had three that she loved. We were in and out of the store within one hour with the PERFECT dress. I would highly recommend this Boutique.
Huge selection, Helpful staff, Gorgeous dresses! – I was visiting the Seattle area and needed to find a dress for my company Christmas party and I couldn't find anything. I happened to be in a store in the mall and asked the girl working there if she knew anywhere else that I could find formal dresses. She told me about Samila Boutique in Redmond. After about a 15 minute drive from Bellevue, I found the boutique. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed when I walked in because I had never seen so many dresses in one place in my life.
I was promptly greeted and the woman assisted me with figuring out what size I was. Then she whisked me away to this section with dresses all in just my size...their were hundreds! After a few questions, she started pulling dresses to tailor to what I was looking for!
Their dresses are European sizes, typically I wear a size 4 in normal clothes but the dress I purchased was a size 6 and I even tried on a couple of size 8's. They had many variations of styles: sexy fitted with low back dresses, huge ball gown's (cinderella), flowy gowns and mermaid dresses!
I recommend this store to anyone that is looking for selection and customer service. Even if you don't know what you are looking for or even what style looks best, they will help you! You don't see this level of customer service anymore...simply amazing!
