Great gun shop, just need to break the ice.. When I first walked in Kathy greeted me behind the counter. I told her I was interested in a GLOCK and I wanted my first hand gun with lots of safety features and fit me right. She recommended me against a GLOCK and showed me a SPRINGFIELD. I purchased the gun without much hesitation and research and a lot of trust. I went home and did much more research and sure enough she was spot on and understood my needs. The one thing you will find is that conversations often seem terse, abrupt and sometimes a little uncomfortable. Once you break the ICE with both of them they will even crack a smile and tell a joke or two. The idea I think is they treat a gun purchase as a responsible thing and they want to make sure you have a good sensibility about you and you’re paying attention. If you treat them with respect it will be returned to you and I think that’s fair. My second time in there I was greeted warmly and I spoke with Larry. I tend to have a pretty good sense of humor and he is turning into my pet project as he will come across as overly serious and deadly straight to the point. I was able to get him to crack half a smile and a chuckle after about ½ hour but it takes work. These people are genuinely good people; they have good prices and are very honest and do care about you. Go in there with a humble attitude willing to learn and you will develop a great relationship with a great gun shop. I will continue to shop there over and over again.
Nice local.
I can believe the user above called and didn't get a quote. I have found it to be the policy of both AMS and many gun stores not to give quotes - it's an exceedingly low margin business and credibility and service tend to be the selling points.
I have purchased accessories and one handgun from them and enjoyed each experience. For the handgun, I found a very collectible item for which I had been searching about six months. It was in excellent shape and priced $100 or more below the market price. Can't beat that deal. I highly recommend checking out these good shop owners.
AVOID.. Save yourself some grief.. Go to DJ's in Bothell instead!!!!. I called AMS today looking for a Ruger 10/22 to do a little plinking. My .300WSM gets a little expensive for that. They would not give a price range over the phone, saying "I needed to come in to verify the quality of the gun." I asked if it was a new gun, in box. They replied yes. Why then, would I need to verify the quality of a NEW, IN BOX rifle? I explained to them that I was price comparing and did not want to waste time or gas coming out there just to leave after potentially seeing an over-marked rifle. After asking that question, the owner Kathy got very rude and derogatory on the phone, calling me ignorant, childish and that she would never want my business. I went to DJ's in Bothell instead. They were very helpful, informative, courteous and polite. They will get all my business in the future. Do yourself a favor, save yourself some grief. Go to a well respected store that cares about the shooting community and leave these rude jokers alone.
