The fish sandwiches are really fresh at this counter cafe in the historic Pike Place Market. That's because the source for the ingredients is mere feet away. The crusty baguettes are from Le Panier, just down the block. Come early to avoid the lunch rush.
It might not look like much, but this Market institution serves the freshest fish sandwiches in town..
In Short
There's often a wait at lunchtime for a sandwich at this beloved Pike Place stand, where both tourists and locals clamor for one of the few counter seats and watch their lunch grilled in front of them. Slabs of fresh, grilled salmon, halibut, prawns or chicken come on toasted baguettes slathered with rosemary mayo and piled with grilled onions and greens. The only other menu offerings--coleslaw and clam chowder--are legendary.
Wonderful. Though a little hard to find, well worth the search. The crabcakes, and beerbattered cod are both excellent.
