The Zoo was old school Seattle before anyone had any hint that their would ever be a new school. Pool, snooker, darts, pinball, beer and blaring tunes plus cheap beer, no attitude and free wifi. Happy hour Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. is the time to go for free pool and great drink specials.
No Free Pool Any More!!! – We read the reviews and expected to play pool for free, but they had got new tables, which are not free any more. It's 75cents/game. They have cheap beer, but that's about it. Once again, no free pool any more!
Beer joint - that's it – If you watch sex in the city, can't tell snooker from eight ball, and must have a chop chop salad with your wine then stay away from the Zoo. This is a tavern. Beer only, no food, and it has not been updated since well.....it opened. But they have $6.50 64oz glass pitchers of PBR all the time. They have games from computer to hard tip darts, shuffleboard, snooker, and several pool tables. In addition the bartender while not overly friendly are nice people who will loan you a cribbage board if you ask nicely. This is a great hangout bar, but not for the gals in Manolo Blahniks, or the guys in their yachting wear. For that head down the hill to Bluewater!
Quirky decor and games make one of Eastlake's oldest establishments an enduring favorite. – The Scene
Just one sign the Zoo isn't the most elegant joint around: the enormous red dragon crouched next to the men's bathroom. Another: the collage of names scribbled in chalk on one of the back walls. It's an odd habitat, but one old-timers, first-timers and young locals have enjoyed since 1974, when the bar opened for business with most of the Zoo's current keepers.
The Zoo has games, games and more games. In addition to five pool tables, three dart boards and two pinball machines, the bar boasts shuffleboard and one of the only snooker tables in town. There's also a back balcony that provides an in-your-face view of Lake Union. Blues tunes boogie through the speakers.
First time there, felt right at home... – Before I actually visited the Zoo, I'd heard it was a biker bar and was a little intimidated. Now that I've actually been there, I think back and laugh hysterically. The servers are friendly, everyone there is super laid back (except in the middle of an intense pool match), and it's nowhere near as expensive as a lot of other bars in the area. When you don't feel like getting all done up for a night on the town, but you're really craving company and a cold one, stop by the Zoo and you'll feel right at home.
