Seattle >Food & Dining > Bizzarro Italian Cafe
I have always had a great time here. It's my Go-To place for celebrating for just the two of us or with friends. LOVE IT
Six of us, including three Italians, visited Bizarro on 1-21-12 to celebrate a birthday. Food was good, service medium, and desserts quite nice; bill a bit over $200.
Our problem? As we were visiting and enjoying coffee after dinner, a female employee (not our server) came to our table and abruptly said they had a long waiting list and asked us to leave!!! Truly a first for me - a journalist who has been in more than 1,000 restaurants across the globe and reviewed scores of hotel, resorts, and eateries in North America and Europe.
I am glad they were busy, but rudeness such as this is intolerable and unncessary. There are many fine Italian restaurants in the Seattle area that value their customers and would never be so ruthless. Six people will not be back and will tell all their associates not how enjoyable the food was, but how callus the staff is!!!
not that great..service is ok. the food is okay. the Trimisou had too much cream.. the service was just ok
Elk bolognese and forest floor frenzy, oh my!.
Had a great meal at Bizarro. Both of the dishes we had were rich and delicious. My only nitpick is that the linguine for my elk bolognese was a bit overcooked for my liking. Didn't really have any bite. But the flavors were great. The beet salad is also very good. Was very happy with the service we got from our knowledgeable and friendly server.
I have to address a couple of things I've seen in very negative reviews of Bizarro. First of all, the claim that the portion sizes are small is just absurd. If you're looking for all-you-can-eat, go back to Olive Garden. The portion sizes are more than adequate here. My gf and I split an order of the fried risotto balls and you get four large balls of delicious risotto crispy on the outside with good marinara. Then we each ordered our entrees which came with salad. We were pretty hungry and we weren't able to finish. Now, I'm not asserting that no one could finish that much food. Just that the portions are certainly not small as some bad eggs have claimed.
Another complaint that keeps coming up is that a large group is dissatisfied with the service they got after they called and told them they were coming, yet failed to inform them that they would only be having drinks and/or dessert. And then they complain about having to wait over an hour (even though they know Bizarro doesn't do reservations on weekends). Then complain about how they were treated rudely when they only ordered drinks and/or desserts. Look numbskulls, Bizarro is a small joint that's also very popular and very busy on weekends. When you bring in a large group and tie up a large table just for drinks, you're not only costing the servers money they could have earned in tips from diners but you're also keeping hungry diners waiting outside because you're too selfish to realize you should have gone someplace else that could better accommodate your needs. So take the sour griping from the prima donnas with a few grains of salt. Some people just don't understand it's not all about them.
THE BEST!. My husband and I LOVE going to Bizarro! The staff is always very friendly adn the food is outrageously good! We just went again recently the night before our wedding and everyone in our party kept raving about the food and service. We took our out-of-town guests to other supposedly 'nicer' restaurants throughout the Seattle area during their stay and Bizarro was everyone's favourite! My father in law could not stop talking about how great our server was and how much he loved the food. We will be back for every special occasion, and even the not so special ones!
The RUDEST staff I have ever seen!.
We went to Bizzarro and were enjoying a pleasant evening with friends we hadn't seen in a while. The food was okay but not great. After paying our bill of approximatley $350, including a generous tip, a waitress came over and told us to leave because they needed our table. I was shocked! It was obvious that we were getting ready to leave shortly anyway. When we walked out the hostess said "I hope you enjoyed your evening". I told her I enjoyed it until we were asked to leave. She then said in a very loud sarcastic voice "Well welcome to a new week!" (whatever that means??) If I were the owner, I would be firing some people right now.
All I can say is DON'T GO THERE it's not worth it. They sure ruined my evening. I will never go there again.
I love Bizarro!. We come frequently from Redmond for dinner because the food is always good, the atmosphere is fun, and the service is always prompt and friendly. Though we only share a salad, entree, dessert and wine, we are always treated pleasantly. We trust the consistency of Bizarro.
Absolutely horrific service.
I don't ever write reviews, and I don't usually complain over service, either. However, my experience here was absolutely appalling.
The only reason this is getting even one star is that my review won't go through unless I click at least one.
I went here for my bachelorette party. First off, I think that no matter what quality of restaurant or service, the staff should make an effort to make that experience something special - after all, for such an important event, they should be glad that they were chosen as a venue for part of that evening.
We called ahead and let the staff know we would be a larger group and around what time we were expecting to show up. They said that was fine, and that they'd try to get some tables ready. We showed up, and proceeded to wait almost 2 HOURS on the sidewalk, in dresses and with no where to sit down.
We planned on ordering drinks and desserts. As soon as we told our waitress this, she stopped in her tracks, raised her voice, said "are you all just ordering dessert?" and proceeded to snatch away the dinner menus from us, and stomped off. She came back in a huff, and slapped down a few dessert menus. Every other interaction for the rest of the night from her was curt, rude and rushed.
Before we placed our dessert (AND DRINK) orders, the manager of the restaurant came over to our table, just to confirm that indeed we were JUST ordering dessert and drinks. (Mind you, our total tab was several hundred dollars, and they didn't deserve a dime of it.) He was also rude, and made us feel extremely unwelcome and awkward.
When our desserts were finally ready, our waitress literally DROPPED the spoons on the table, directly in front of me - the bride-to-be. I was astonished, as well as the rest of my party, and several surrounding tables were starting to observe this ridiculous behavior. Then when the dishes came out, she slammed them in front of each person. They almost immediately brought out the check, before we had even started enjoying our desserts and drinks, and tried to rush us out of there.
I have never in my entire life experienced worse service, and felt more unwelcome at any establishment. I was horrified that my friends had to witness the immature attitude of the waitress, and devastated that my "fun" night turned into such an awkward and awful ordeal. I question the ethics of a company that would hire such a selfish and unprofessional wait-staff, and run their restaurant in such a biased way. Thanks to the staff at Bizzarro Cafe, I will never recommend this restaurant, never return as a patron, and wish that I could erase that night from my memory.
Worst service I've ever experienced in my life!.
A group of friends and I planned to go to Bizarro on a Friday night. We understood that there were no reservations, but we called ahead to ask if they could accommodate a large group. We were given no problem, and we were willing to wait the hour+ it took to get a table.
Upon ordering, the server realized that many of us had ordered salads rather than entrees and promptly changed from her cheery self to the rudest server I have ever met. She slammed the utensils down on the table, yelled across the table, and demanded our dessert orders approximately 3 mins after our salads were served. Even before we were finished with our plates, they were whisked away, no questions asked. We were in and out in less than an hour, and as we added up the bill (for which we had all brought cash), we were offered a calculator to hurry up our payment. We were stared down by the entire staff the whole evening.
Apparently, although this place advertises itself as a friendly and laid-back establishment, they would much rather serve those who would give them the most money in the least amount of time.
Nothing Special. Not sure what all the fuss is about. Food is nothing to brag about, service was so so at beat and it takes to dang long to get food from kitchen.
