remarkably good food. nearly a whole in the wall, with a pleasant but rather sparse decor. Reminds me of an artist loft apartment -- open, sparse, high ceiling, yet small. Not all that busy, but rather poor, slow service getting water, a drink, and an order in. No problem with the speed of the kitchen. Hot food, very tasty, creative cooking, most of whick worked great. Risoto and sausage terrific. Mussels and pasta too creamy thick for me, salad ok, breads were excellent. $80 for 5, but no alchohol, water only.
A welcoming atmosphere and cheap eats keep Fremont locals coming back to this neighborhood pizza haven..
The Scene
Regulars nestle into their favorite tables at this casual neighborhood cafe, sliding menus aside. Since many servers have worked here for years, they treat customers like family and can describe the taste of any dish perfectly. The setting also lends itself to a casually romantic evening out, especially as the night progresses and the little ones go home to bed--it's a great first-date spot.
The Food
Smart folks come for pizza and a pitcher of beer. Many choose the elegant, simple Margherita, topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and Asiago cheeses, olive oil and fresh basil. Pizzas are sinfully gooey with a light, medium-thin crust. Those looking for an alternative can order the generous bowl of steamed mussels in a dip-worthy Vermouth broth, or baked scallops swimming in creamy Marsala sauce. Standout entrees include cheese-filled tortellini Esposito with sauteed tomatoes, basil and prosciutto and lemony chicken piccata.
Great Little Place. My wife and I have been coming here for over 10 years and have seen it through management changes, menu changes, and a remodel. It is on our short list of great places to go (even with our 3 kids) for great, reasonably priced food. It's all about the food here. The early bird dinner is a great value, and they allow you to order up to any entree (fettucine con gambretti is to die for). The best flat crust pizza in town. Friendly staff, clean & pleasant ambience, but the food here is exceptional. Just don't tell too many people.
THE BEST!!!!. Our very favorite neighborhood restaurant! The pizza is always primo, but we almost always order the pasta of the day and the caesar salad. The weekday special has to be the best value in the city. The decor could use some help, BUT we think if they gussied it up it would be too pretentious and they might raise the prices eventually. Noooo! ALWAYS a wonderful night out!
Oh yea!!. Fremont Pizzaria...pizza done con rustica with artistic results. The pizzas on the menu are varied and excellent! I have tried all of them and there is nothing to compare them to. The guys really do great work. Try the Fremont veggie or the Montrechette. Actually, try ALL of them! But don't forget to check the fresh sheet. You might miss a hidden treasure!
great find!. My family visited the Pizzeria for the first time on Saturday night. It was wonderful- the food was excellent, the service was very good, and the menu was well priced. My sister said "this is my new favorite restaurant" and my mom said the steamed clams were the best she's ever had! We will definitely be back!
