Great place for a mid-afternoon lunch! – When I used to work in Greenwood I would go to the 74th Street Alehouse all the time for a quick lunch! I've never seen it crowded for lunch around 12-3:00.(My lunch hour times varied) But, I do remember the great selection of beers and even Blackthorne Cider. It's a great place to try some really great food and have a beer, if you can, before heading back to the grindstone! The menu can be a little spendy, but the food really is pretty darn good. I thought I'd hate the food since they didn't have anything fried, but I was wrong! The 74th Street Alehouse is a great place to go for lunch!
Great off hours – This place has a great selection of microbrews, and it's in a decent location. It's a nice space and not too loud. The food, however, is way too hot and spicy no matter what you order. And the place can be really packed on game nights.
Best reuben ever, great beer, great service – My friend and I went for a couple beers (great selection of local and not-so-local quality brews) and split the reuben sandwich and goat cheese salad--everything was delicious! With corned beef, swiss cheese, thousand island and homemade sauerkraut, it was the best reuben I've ever had! Likewise, the salad was awesome- grilled warm goat cheese was fantastic. A bit pricey ($10 for a sandwich) but well worth the great food, friendly service and laidback (if crowded) environment.
Chicken sandwich pricy & overrated! – My friend and I visited this pub last night and we were not impressed. We read in the menu about their amazing "Seattle's Best Chicken Sandwich", so I decided to try it.
What a disappointment. There was nothing outstanding about this sandwich. It had no distiguishable flavors, it was just a plain chicken breast with tomato, lettuce and mayo on untoasted white bread. And to add insult to injury, the damn thing cost around $11.
My friend had a green salad with chicken which proved to be disappointing as well. While the portion was large, the chicken was cold and it was smothered with HUGE chunks of blue cheese..they kept rolling off the plate onto the floor!
I'd go here for a good beer, but not to get a meal. The food is so-so and overpriced. We ended up blowing $40 for two beers, a salad and a sandwich.
Good food, beer, service- crowded – Great place in all ways except it's always packed after 7:00 PM or so. And like most "hangouts," the locals are a bit territorial. But roll with that and you've got a pleasant evening ahead.
perfection – This is the place for good smoke free
gourmet pub food. This is my fav northend
Bar for chow. Fresh! Fresh! Fresh!
My Dream Pub – The standard by which all other pubs should be measured. A stylishly simple atmosphere that is perfect for sharing a pitcher and absolutely incredible pub food. With no smoking, sparse TV's, and no "pub games," the 74th actually has more of a straight-up restaurant than an according-to-Hoyle "pub," but I'm splitting hairs here. This place should be North Seattle's "local."
A place for great grub & gruel – With a continuously great menu and rotating taps you can't go wrong.
Best Breasts – Love that chicken breat sandwich....I can't even comment on the rest of the menu...I've never had anything but this sandwich there!!!
Always great – Every time I go I like this place more. I recently had an oyster po' boy there that I still think about...
The beer selection is always interesting and since I'm a huge brew fan, I love being able to try something new each time I go.
