Great rooms and service – It's been awhile since I have been to this hotel, but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.
I didn't get to spend a lot of time in the hotel, most of the time was spent in the pool on the top floor or in the room with room service. The pool was heavenly, there was no one else up there and it had beautiful views. I would go back for the pool.
Room service was exactly what I expect of room service, pleasant and unassuming. The food was decent as well. I also appreciated the morning service and the room service server telling me all about what the weather would be like that day. He was a pretty funny guy. Front desk service was great as well.
My only complaint if parking, but when is it not for downtown hotels? It's expensive, you just have to deal with it.
Nice hotel, good value, excellent location – This location is an excellent value--walking distance to shows/bars in Capital Hill and to the Market. Weekend out-of-towners will appreciate the proximity to shopping and attractions. The new Visions lounge on the 28th floor, is a great spot for a cocktail while watching the sun go down--order the Side Car! Business travelers will appreciate the proximity to Columbia Tower and other office buildings. You can even walk to Bell Town if you put your comfy shoes on. No need to rent a car!
New remodel looks amazing! – I went and stayed with my wife over the weekend (I live in Seattle, but let my folks stay at our place). It was awesome to do a little mini staycation, walked to Poppy in Capitol Hill, and my wife did some shopping at Pacific Place, which was also walking. The best part is that I got an amazing deal, the front desk people said they are trying to promote the fact that they put $20 million in renovations to locals.
Plus their sky bar has an awesome view! *updated* I have to say that both my wife and I were very impressed with the digs you set us up with. Everything about the space was amazing and we really enjoyed hanging out in the room. We started off the night with a little happy hour in the Visions Lounge and enjoyed some delicious crab cake sandwiches, locally produced Washington gin martini's and of course, the amazing view. We wandered downtown for some shopping and dinner and greatly enjoyed the bottle of wine you sent our way. Again, thanks so much for your generosity.
A GRAND disapointment – Fopr the Marriott Family of hotels, this was incredibly dissapointing. The exterior has dirt drip lines down the sides and it is an UGLY reflection on what you would expect coming to a Marriott brand hotel. Upon entering the lobby, it looks a bit nicer but is not warm at all, outdated, and an all around disapointment matched by the exterior. the rooms are old, the food barely adequate, the bar common, the facilities are rinky dink, the meeting space sporadic and used and the hotel seems to be completely mis-managed. Wait staff in the restaurant was very cordial, but the rest of the staff was either distant or offered a very contrived greeting. Not sincere at all.
I am very sorry your stay did not live up to your expectations and truly appreciate the feedback. I am pleased, however, to be able to address some of your concerns and observations by letting you know the hotel is and has been under new management. for the past year. One of the first tasks on the list was to clean the exterior of the building. Subsequently, we are about to enter our third and final phase of our $28 million dollar renovation which involved a complete remodel of our guestrooms, health club, conversion of our pool to an environmentally friendly salt water pool, and addition of a brand new Madison Ballroom and updated meeting space! The final phase will involve the reopening of our newly remodeled Lobby Bar and Lobby - both scheduled for completion by the end of April.
I would like to invite you to come back and experience the hotel again. Please call me and I will personally take care of your arrangements.
Best, Rene Neidhart/General Manager
It's not much more ... get the Romance Package! – We were planning to stay on Bainbridge Island after a day of shopping in Seattle, but upon finding all the places we wanted to stay booked we decided to make a reservation where our friends were staying. I wasn't sure if it would be as fun or as romantic as Bainbridge -- I thought it would be your standard corporate downtown hotel -- but I was more than impressed.
After a long day of shopping we were both ready to rest before meeting friends for dinner, so when we arrived at the hotel I was just hoping for a warm shower and a somewhat comfortable bed. Little did I know my boyfriend had made the reservation for the Romance Package.
Our room was great, a corner room on the 20th floor with a comfortable sitting room as well as the bedroom (which had amazing views of the downtown buildings, the Bay and the Space Needle). The service was beyond expectation. As part of the package we were to get champagne and chocolates, which we forgot to order before we took a walk before dinner. When we arrived back to the room to freshen up, the treats had been delivered!! It was a great surprise.
The package also included breakfast in the restaurant or a limited menu from room service. We chose the room service option, and it was absolutely wonderful -- they called before it was delivered to verify exactly what we wanted and it was much more than I could ever eat for breakfast!
Overall, I would absolutely reccommend the Renaissance for a weekend stay in Seattle -- and get the Romance Package for an even sweeter stay.
As for drawbacks, there weren't many. No mini-fridge or coffeemaker in our room (or our friends' room) -- but they do offer free coffee service in the morning. The furnishings are a bit dated, but not bad (get new shower curtains!). We wanted to use the pool/spa that night, but there were holiday parties in the hotel (with some of those guests staying over) so it was too crowded and loud, even at 10:45 p.m.
We had a wonderful stay! Thank you!
great breakfast – My husband and I spent a weekend there and enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the view was fabulous. We highly recommend staying here. Great deals on web....
great place go stay – The view from the 25th floor over looking the bay is breath taking... the staff is great and they always have a smile for you at check in.
Business-savvy lodgings with great views on the edge of downtown. – The Scene
Because this full-service hotel sits on the southernmost edge of downtown, it is often overlooked. But its reliable service and array of standard amenities make it a solid choice for conventioneers and business travelers.
There isn't much that is distinctive about the exterior of this big grey building, and all of the 553 guest rooms are essentially the same. But the views from the exercise room and pool area can't be beat. Look out at the Cascade Mountains and Capitol Hill while working out or gaze onto the Port of Seattle and much of downtown while swimming in the small pool. A soak in the sauna is accompanied by views of Safeco Field and the Seahawks Stadium. The notable fitness room has a Brazilian cherry wood floor made of wood leftover from the construction of the deck at the mega-mansion of Microsoft bigwig Bill Gates.
very nice hotel – The Renaisannce Madison is very nice, but shows it's age. The hotel staff is very professional and attentive. The advertised rates are too high for the property. I got my room for $80 on Priceline. Well worth that price.
A Great Stay Downtown – The Madison Reanaissance (MR) is a beautiful grand hotel in Downtown Seattle. There are other more historic and elegant hotels but the MR brings the amenities of a large corporate hotel with more comfort and style than most. You can usually procure a great rate from the hotel itself or other travel web sites. I have received a free room upgrade every time I have stayed at the MR.
