specialtys is no good. totally agree with comment below. the management never seem to care about their staff. and the whole made fresh part of the advertising? it may be made fresh but is extremely unhealthy. the wheat bread has less then 50% wheat flour and is only called 9 grain cause it is rolled in it. over 400 calories in wheat bread is pretty ridiculous. wouldnt eat there again
Boycott Specialty's. I had the WORST experience at this establishment. There was a customer ahead of me in line that didn't like his soup's temperature, so a manager came over and did something to adjust but apparently the man was still unsatisfied so he walked over to the girl calling out the sandwiches and threw it on her, looked at her like she was garbage and walked out. Now this is the part that amazed me is that though they had a full staff, a male manager, NO ONE did anything to help this girl. They did not call the police or take any witness reports, nothing. I am personally banning this company and hope you will do the same. There is no reason to let a company treat their employees like that and on further researc found out they give no benefits, holiday pay and are unbelievably unhealthy. They are a nutritional nightmare with most of their sandwiches weighing in at an average of 900 calories for a sub par snack, I call it that due to the fact it comes with no sides. And speaking of sides, forget that cookie it averages 500 calories!
Check your sandwiches!.
Today I learned to always check in the bag when I order a sandwich online. You'd think with someone's name on a sticker on the sandwich, they would always put it into the bag with a sticker with the same name, right? Well, you would be wrong. My advice is before you leave, open the bag and make sure the sticker on the sandwich matches the one on the bag. It won't help you if they put the sticker on the wrong sandwich, but if that level of meticulousness becomes required, heaven help us all.
Edit: Today I ordered a sandwich and THIS time I checked the label. It was right, so I left, only to find that it was indeed entirely the wrong sandwich once I unwrapped it. I went back and they apologized and remade the sandwich, but they still left in the pickles I asked them to leave out. FAIL.
You better love onions. I went to Specialty?s at around 11 am before the lunch rush on Friday and yet again they proved why I don?t eat there. I was downtown for a meeting and though I would grab a sandwich before I head back to my office. I went up to order my sandwich, and told the guy with the little hand held computer that I wanted a Beef and Blue. He didn?t give me a chance to say no onions before he tried to finish the sale. This caused me some concern so when I went up to pay for my sandwich I doubled checked with the girl that the order said no onions. She said it did and I paid. I was concerned but I figured being it took them so long to get my order out it had to be right, but I waited so much that I had to grab my order and run out the door not checking to see if there where onions. I will regret that choice. About an hour later after I final got to eat my sandwich I found that did they not only put onions on it they put extra onions on it. I have gotten use to pulling onions of my sandwiches if I order something during the lunch rush so I know how much they usually put on. I was extremely angry that no matter when I go to the store they can?t get my order right. This was the final straw for me. If11am when almost no one is in the restaurant they can?t get my order straight, they never will.
Doesn't impress me much. I think this place is completely overpriced for the kind of food they serve. I went based on a recommendation, but I was totally unimpressed.
Great Bakery/Bad Attitude. This wonderful bakery has tons of great breakfast choices along with delicious salads and sandwiches for lunch. This would be my favorite coffee/snack place if the girl at the counter wasn?t such an unhappy person that took all her life problems out on her customers. I enjoy going there but only when black hair mean girl isn?t at the oatmeal counter.
Great Service- Great Food. Went to this location with a co-worker and friend for the first time the week of June 11Th. Ken Barton was wonderful to speak with and was very informative on the services such as Catering, Pick Up, and ordering on line. Great sandwiches and the soup was incredible! Wonderful platter of cookies that went over extremely well at a party I was hosting that Friday. Very pleasant people working there. This Cafe & Bakery will be recommended to many co-workers and friends. Good place for a client lunch!
Good experiences suddenly not looking so good. I have purchased sandwiches, salads and cookies from Specialtys numerous times and for the most part have had good results. They do sometimes get special orders wrong but I can live with that. What I can absolutely not live with is the fact that my Tomato and Mozarella sandwich today was lovely until I noticed a weird taste in one half. This sandwich contained spinach, mozarella and tomatos, there was no pesto, no spreads, nothing - very simple. The taste that I noticed was distinctly pickle. So I took apart my sandwich to investigate and discovered several large chunks of tuna salad stuck to the spinach, as though someone had realized half way through a tuna sandwich that someone had asked for no greens, scraped them off and tossed it back into the bin. There is absolutely no other reason that there would be tuna in my sandwich. As well as being gross, were I a person with an alergy to tuna, pickles, mayo etc. I could have become very sick. Now I wonder about the hygeine of all my other sandwiches...
Offering made-from-scratch breakfast and lunch, this gourmet soup and sandwich spot caters to the businessman on the move..
In Short
Before work, the sleek space is filled with suits vying for freshly-baked breakfast croissants, baked goods and coffee; at lunchtime, they're lining up for sandwiches, salads and soups. More than 30 sandwich options include versions made with in-store roasted chicken, turkey and pork, along with unique fillings like Santa Fe chicken salad and Thai chicken. Generous salads can be chosen from the menu or custom-built from a long list of add-ins.
Okay, but not great.. I eat here often since it's near my job. I've never reviewed anything on Citysearch, but i'm sick of them messing up my orders. They allow you to make your sandwich however you like it and it never fails they mess it up. They do not pay attention to the details. Although, they will gladly replace the sandwich that they made incorrectly, it's just not worth the hassle to have it remade. Why don't they just pay attention to the details and get it right the first time? The upside is you can order online, the downside is that they always make mistakes. It's a crap shoot whenever I order. Will they get it right? It's not really rocket science.
