Check out the Chinese Room at the top for some killer views of the ferries crossing Elliott Bay. This is a Seattle architectural classic.

Once the tallest building west of the Mississippi this looker still provides sweeping views of Elliott Bay from 35 stories.
Feel the wind blowing as you look out over the city, the Puget Sound and the mountains..
The Experience
Although Smith Tower is no longer the tallest building in Seattle, it still provides a great view at a reasonable price. You'll travel back in time as you travel up to the observation deck in the original elevators, still run by uniformed operators. Then step outside for an-open air experience 35-stories high. Get right up to the bars and look down at the cars and people below--not an experience for the acrophobic. See the Space Needle, the ferries on the Sound, Safeco and Qwest Fields and--on a clear day--the Cascade and Olympic mountains including a view of Mt. Rainier.
The Background
Smith Tower's claim to fame came in 1914 when the 42-story building was completed--at that time the tallest outside of New York's Woolworth Building. L.C. Smith, of handheld-revolver fame, was looking for publicity for his new product--the typewriter.
