Good prices and great comics come together in this subterranean house of comedy. Headliners and regional talent perform to a fairly tame crowd in a comfortable but casual house. Don't miss Hari Kondabolu and W Kamau Bell when they come through town as they frequently do.
The 10:30 show was awesome. I had a great time. However, the two groups upfront were quite irritating. Why couldn't they just shut up and stop heckling the comedians? Also, to one of the groups sitting up front...how many times do you have to remind everyone including the stand up comedians that it was your birthday? You weren't the only one in the crowd that night celebrating a birthday. We get it... it's your birthday, or did you think everyone kept forgetting it was your birthday every 3 seconds? Also, to the other group... I wish someone would have told you how to be considerate of others or to follow instructions (if you have the need to talk then please go to the back of the room or step out. That other group kept talking throughout the show that a lot of people did not appreciate because your voices were heard on the mic (because you were sitting close enough for the microphone to pick up your conversations.) I wish those two groups were kicked out, but other than that it was a great show and fully appreciated. :)
It was okay – My husband and I plus some friends went to see the comedy show. The comedian before the headliner was hularious. There was this bday party group that was rude and interupting the comedians and making fun of the people watching the show. The owner and staff didn't do anything about them. The servers need to know better and cut off the drunk people who are causing a disturbance. The bday group was getting all the attention. Majority of the people were like what the heck!! I can see why the seats dont get all filled up. After the show, outside the bar we were approached by drug dealers selling meth and bums begging for money or cigs. The best comedy shows that I seen is in Las Vegas, NV and Tucson, AZ.
Best comedy – Dress up or dress down, varity of people. I have been to this place so many times, and have laughed so hard I was laughing tears. Been to a lot of other comedy shows and it is nothing like this. I have spent up to $120.00 for a ticket to see some great comedians and still this place beats them all. Price is great, the comedians always relate to real life situations. Great place to bring your friends and adult family. Only one negative, hard to get drinks served to you once you are downstairs, load up while you are upstairs.
Reviewed by a heckler! – My name is Ron Reid and I am the manager of The Comedy Underground in Seattle. If you come to our club, please do not let the alcohol take you over. Your drunken unsolicited participation ruins the evening for other people, who paid good money to watch professional entertainers and not you.
When I left the club on Saturday, a couple of drunk women who had nearly been kicked out of the show, were flirting with some cops in front of the bar. Then apparently one of them posted this on CitySearch:
"What a joke!

We went on a Saturday night and the comedians were NOT funny. For $15 I would expect at least one of the 4 three comedians we watched to be funny. In addition to that, the crowd was expected to "Be Respectful". Ok, I understand no heckling because the comedians can't handle impromptu but come on, we were told to hold it down because we were cheering them on. We asked for a refund and got half our money back.
* Cons: comedians, "be respectful", "be quiet & polite"
* Overall user rating: Not Recommended"
First of all, they did not ask for a refund, and did not get any money back. Just in case the boss is reading.
But most of all they were the usual ignorant, drunk types who think they're "helping" the comedians, and think they're "cheering them on" when they're actually starved for attention and can't keep their pie holes shut for 90 minutes.
Among the comedians they "didn't think were funny" were Last Comic Standing runner-up and Tonight Show veteran Ty Barnett, and San Francisco Comedy Competition winner Bengt Washburn.
I told them on the way out that they had ruined the evening for others, and they just didn't get it. After seeing at least once of them slide onto a cop's lap as he was parked in his black-and-white, I'd give them the benefit of doubt for being inebriated.
But I guess they remembered enough of the evening to write to CitySearch.
Great Entertainment – I've found the Underground to be the best and only venue for standup. The reason that Seattle has a rough comedy scene, is truly Seattles own fault. Seattle is one of the toughest places to stand up. Wanna know why? It's because if someone says , abortion, , or God forbid, the N-word, people get offended here. Listen folks. Comedy, is to laugh. Don't take everything so serious. NOTE: I was censored in the "if someone says" portion of this review. This is exacty what I'm talking about.
Honest Comedy – So Seattle does not have the best comedy scene but this place is by far the best in the city. There prices are honest, the food is ok (and priced that way) and overall I've never had a bad experance there.
Editorial Review by Brenda Stice – National and local acts featured nightly along with food and drink service at this dark, underground Pioneer Square comedy club.
