This joint fills up quickly with nearby students, parents and anyone else looking for some tasty and affordable brats and beer. Stop by to catch up with friends or to catch up on the game that's sure to be playing on one of the several screens throughout. Grab a table between 3-6 pm to score some Happy Hour deals.

This boisterous u-district joint serves up a great selection of brats, beers and fried to perfection fries. Attentive, friendly service, plenty of tv's to watch the game and outdoor seating seal the deal.

Weekday happy hour 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and all day Sunday offers $4 bevs and $5 bites. Go!

Most University of Washington students come in to this friendly, family-owned pub for the awesome, ever-changing lineup of beer, but the sausage is the true star here. It's all made in-house and grilled just right. Try one of the sausage burgers like the Ragin' Cajun, topped with caramelized onions and peppers. For more heat, order a cup of gumbo on the side.

No biggie to serve uncooked sausage – Appalling that of ALL places, a sausage restaurant would serve their fare uncooked. And then stir in one aloof server who doesn't seem to be at all concerned when I send the plate back...and reappears unapologetically in a couple minutes with a burnt-on-the outside, plate...not even not garnished but just sausage and fries. Then the bill comes...with no adjustment. No apology along the way, not even a hint of concern or regret. Sorry folks, killer fries will never make up for crappy service and uncooked sausage.

Euro beer & warm, well maintained atmosphere. – It's all subjective. My perspective is I am a 33yr old grad student at UW, single, white, hetro, male from the NE, moved to NW 2 yrs ago. Shultzy's is conveniently located and has good Euro style beer (micro brew), not a brewery. They have large boots of beer for social group drinking. Atmosphere is calm/warm with wood paneling and a fire place in front and picnic area in back for the summer. The owners put in effort into maintaining it well (not always the case on "the Ave"). The food menu is diverse leaning towards German/American style, but is slightly expensive for the area. ($18-$22 for lunch and a beer, including tip; dinner is a little more) Come sit at a table with a bunch of friends and it's a great place to be.

Great Beer Selection – I had two bratwursts and fries at the bar. The fries were delicious and addictive. The bratwursts were smaller than I would have preferred. One wasn't enough to fill me up. The beer was awesome. I had the Baron German Lager, a locally produced beer, in a Liter stein. I could have had two liters in Das Boot if I wanted. The bartender and staff were friendly. If they made the brats larger, or had a larger selection of different link sausages, I'd have given it 5 stars...there's still some room for improvement, but if you like sausage and beer in a fun atmosphere, this is a fantastic place to go.

It's all about beer, fries and sausages at this U-District pub popular with the academic crowd. – In Short
This classic joint has been delivering students and faculty the staples since 1988: five German beers on tap and sold by the liter, hearty sausages and mountains of shoestring potatoes. Grad students camp out at the dark wooden booths or, in the nicer months, snag a spot on the leafy back patio. Though sausages are the menu standards, lighter appetites will be appeased with the large selection of veggie burgers and salads.

Nothing cheap but fries are pretty good – There is nothing cheap about this place. Ten dollars for a sausage is not cheap nor were they very good. Okay at best. The fries are the shoestring variety and are pretty tasty. But when you get up and leave, after tax and tip and a drink to go along with your lunch, you just spent ten or in my case $12+ for a hot dog lunch. Sorry but I won't be coming back.

Come for the beer, stay for the sausage – It all comes down to the liter steins of bier. The place is the quintessential college pub (in all its positive connotations). Great place to go at the end of the day and drink alot and indulge in greasy, delicious German-style food.

best fries in the world – The fries are, in my opinion, the best ever. Long, thin, crisp, flavorful. Yes, salty, but hey, they're fries. The burgers and so on are a little messy to eat, but even more satisfying because of it. Friendly, clean, publike atmosphere with good beer, served in German-style glasses, which are fun.

Utterly Fantastic!!! – Having never been to Shultzy's before, I was pleasantly surprised by the fabulously tasty hot dawgs they offered. The value is shocking: w/out fries (which are quite salty), you can get out of there for less than $5. With the fries, plan on $10. It's a fun place to go... in fact, I've eaten there more than once in a single day! They have many dawgs to choose from.
