I've been taking my Ford Ranger to Bernie's for about 12 years, both my current truck and the Ranger before it. Bernie's is honest and thorough each time. They troubleshoot, reccommend fixes, then they let me decide which fixes to authorize and which to wait on. No pressure, just quality assessments and and repairs. I live on Capitol HIll and since I retired, Bernie's is out of my way, but I continue to use them, because I trust them. It's worth the drive.
Ready and Running – Have used Bernie's on two occasions, and both were great experiences. The scheduling and actual service is prompt. They fix only what has to be fixed, guarantee thier work, and have it out in record time. The staff there are polite, personable, and professional. Would recommend this to both DIYers and those who wouldn't know a wrench from a screwdriver!
F-A-N-TASTIC!! – I have been a returning Bernie's customer for about 2yrs now. Every time I step foot into the shop, I am greeted with a smile and genuine interest in why I am stopping by. Patrick is always helpful and thorough in the assessment and explanation of the ailments of my vehicle. Not being very auto-savvy, I never feel pressured or taken advantage of when it comes to the repairs &/or maintenance of my truck. I will be a life-long customer of Bernie's and will continue to recommend Bernie's to my friends, family, or perfect stranger that might be stranded on the side of the road. QUALITY and EXCELLENCE in WORK and SERVICE – I am a relatively new customer to Bernies having been recommended to this second generation automotive repair shop by a second generation customer about five months ago. How often do you feel good about a car repair bill? Like me, probably not often (if ever). But ... I can honestly say I feel good about the service bills I receive when I pick up my car at Bernies.
QUALITY customer service is what Bernies is all about. Not only have they done excellent service on our family's cars, but the staff there has continually demonstrated their friendly and thorough customer care. Prompt diagnosis, regular updates, complete information, and little extras like cleaning the car and picking me up from my home when the car was ready are just a few examples of how they have demonstrated their care for our family.
When we recently purchased a "new to us" van, Bernies did a THOROUGH inspection, outlining what services should be done immediately, what would be needed in the near future, what the costs would be, what time in shop would be required and what we could defer to a later time. When I compared costs with other shops Bernies was little more expensive, but when comparing quotes, I found the warranties were longer with Bernies and the parts to be used were original manufactures parts, not after market parts.
Some shops, it seems, are only interested in the month end bottom line. Bernies is interested in complete customer satisfaction and excellent quality of service. If you go to their website you will see the statement "Bernie's is the Best Auto Repair in Seattle!". I can honestly agree!!! Like our friends who recommended Bernies to us, I can enthusiastically recommend Bernies to you.

And you're right, our 3 year/36,000 mile warranty is better than everybody else's because we don't cut corners or use generic parts but STILL try to be competitive with our pricing. Great service by Patrick at Bernie's – Thanks to Patrick for taking the time to thoroughly explain the service I needed for my car. I am new to the area and needed to find a trustworthy auto shop. The price was fair, Patrick was honest, and I love the warranty. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Excellent staff, from all angles – I've had the opportunity to be a customer at Bernie's Automotive, though that's not how my relationship with them started. I work in a related business, at Hertz Rent--a-car in Ballard. I've had the opportunity to share customers with Bernie's. I've always been impressed with the way customers talk about their experiences at there. They say they get great work at a fair price, and excellent treatment from Patrick and Will. I have worked with many auto shops in the area and am always impressed with the way I'm treated when I come in. Which is good, because not all shops are happy to see the rental car guys.
I took my car in to Bernie's after always hearing such great things, and was helped out by Patrick. Everything I've heard from anyone I've dealt with out of there has been spot on. Patrick was excellent, I felt well informed throughout the process, he was clear and concise, and didn't make any promises he couldn't keep. I'm not mechanically inclined, and Patrick was awesome at explaining all the work that needed to be done without being condescending. Not only will I be back for any further repairs, but they will get my sterling recommendation next time I get a call from someone at the scene of a breakdown.

Watch out! They will rip you off – DO NOT take your car here. These guys will rip you off while smiling at you. Yes, it is true that they are very nice to you, they take the time to explain everything they do, and they have a shuttle service that will take you wherever you need to go so long as you let them know ahead of time.
However, their prices are completely out of control. I took my car in because my oil pressure light was low. After they diagnosed and fixed the problem, it turned out to be a cracked oil filter cap. Guess how much I was charged. $200!!!! That included the part, the labor, and an oil change. I was completely astounded. It was the single most unethical business transaction I have ever been involved in.
If you choose to disregard this post and take your car to this place, I'm giving you a heads up to at least get a quote from them BEFORE you let them touch your car. And get a second opinion. I promise you won't regret it!

Quick, professional, quality work – I needed my car's rotors turned and new brake pads put on, but needed the car back the next day. They were able to complete all work by lunch time the next day, within a competitive price range. So far I've been pleased with their work, and I'd recommend them.
