Do Not Trust! – Despite clearly representing through posted signs in the shop that they take all major credit cards as form of payment, they demanded at the last minute that I pay for my $1200 service in cash and that they would keep my car until I came up with it. Mark at Barr Transmission fully disassembled my transmission and advised me I needed $3,600 in repairs. After speaking subsequently to my dealership, they informed me the service would be almost fully covered there, so I gave Mark instructions to reassemble and install my current transmission and i would pay him for his time. At this point he said he would only accept a cash payment and when i questioned him, he said "well, we have your car, so you're free to come get it when you come up with the cash." I would never trust another car to them.
Wonderful! – It's very refreshing to have a place that I can take my van and not worry about a thing. They were welcoming and friendly and I could tell they had my best interest in mind. As a single mom of 4, I have a lot on my plate and Mark and the gang took great care of my van in an amazing amount of time. Definitely would recommend these guy's to anyone and everyone!
They treat their customers very bad – After spending thousands of dollars there, the transmission was still not smooth. I went back within a month, but they don't honor their work and warranties. Mark just blame other issues in the car. I took it to another transmission shop for free evaluation. They claimed that it was the poor and unprofessional job Mark has put in. This is very frustrating how they treat their customers who have already paid so much.
great – I wouldn't trust ANY other place with my car. these guys know what they're doing. awesome
Doing my best to help people ... – As the manager of the Barr shop I'm grateful to the client who brought this review to my attention. Yes, Barr & Kings share shop space. (And coincidentally the managers of both shops have the same first name, which can lead to some confusion about who Mark is.) This is a benefit to both the businesses, who can share tools, equipment and man-power, and to the customers who have the support of a combined total of many many decades of transmission repair experience from the technicians working for both companies. Sharing space only works because boh shops maintain the same high standards of service. Times are tough and we work hard to live up to our reviews - the internet will make or break your business these days and we know that. All posted reviews are attatched to a work order. If you come in we'd be happy to show them to you, and to answer any questions you have about your vehicle.
Read reviews carefully – These guys keep telling you to read their reviews. I'd tell you to read the reviews very carefully. How many other reviews have these people written? How many 3 and 4 star reviews are there? Why are they all 5 stars? How "normal" do these reviews sound? Do the reviewers seem typical with real problems and real descriptions?
Look at the reviewer called wacker. "he" reviews both Barr transmission and Kings transmission, on the same day. (barr and kings are in the same facility). In one review he's a male and in another review he's a woman. Hmmm.
form your own conclusions.
Friendly service was great. the owner was there and he was great to work with. made me feel comforatable and welcome. I can say I would recommend them to everyone :)
Best Service – I had an issue with my transmission, and they came back to me with the best price on their estimate. Their work was perfect.
Seattles transmission-saviours – My car started being jumpy and I believed it had something to do with my transmission. I asked a couple of my relatives who has lived in Seattle for several years, and they sent me to the guys at Barr Transmission. They offered me a complete and thorough check-up of the transmission. Two hours later they called me with an estimation of costs and said they had all the spare parts they needed. My car was fixed before I got off from work!
I would, without a doubt, recommend this service garage to everyone I know, experiencing problems with their car or transmission.
I was treated with respect, which is a great deal of what I am looking for at a great garage – these guys even took care of the other main area I am focusing on before letting people open up the hood of my loved Chrysler 300 .. The price! I was offered a great deal even my local garage can’t compete with! Top rating from me! Would definitely let them take care of my transmission again.
Fantastic service – I flat out didn't believe the other reviews for barr transmission. I went there on a recommendation to have the transmission rebuilt in my wife's van. I received nothing but the best, most courteous, and professional service. That same transmission now has 2 years and many thousands of miles on it and i don't have problems and complains. 5 starr
