Granted, in Seattle we're pretty spoiled with good fishmongers but it is just way too convenient not to have to travel much at all to get to A&J. The only downside is that I tend to park in back and thus just HAVE to go through the little wine market in the way to A&J and of course I just HAVE to pick up a bottle to go that that night's dinner.

They have a great selection and while I haven't yet tried anything but fish from A&J I'm sure all of their meats are top-notch. The staff is friendly and helpful, and that tends to say a lot about a business.

Great find!. I love this store. I love to cook and try new cuts of meat and they can always get me what I want. They DO take credit cards now by the way and I always call ahead to order so its ready when I arrive.

A & J Meats has crowned Queen Anne hill for nearly 50 years and is jampacked on weekends--with good reason. Meats of all kinds are aged, smoked, cured and cooked right on the premises, with TLC. For breakfast, lunch or dinner, there's a specially prepared link, rib, roast or chop in their case. Non-cooking carnivores can dig into the full menu of oven-ready entrees, such as beef Wellington, marinated leg of lamb or chicken Kiev.

What Life Should Be Like. This place is a taste of what life should be. Friendly and Helpful staff, delicious cuts of meat and great cooking tips. The Tips are free and the meats are well priced for the outstanduing quality. I can even buy bones for my dog. A real city treasure.

Well worth the effort. Delicious meats, high quality and great service. I used them for the first time on Thanksgiving (getting a wonderful 22 lb turkey) and have an order in for my Christmas rib roast. Roasts are dry aged, so they're tender and tasty. Supermarket meat no more! Well worth the hassle to go up to Queen Anne.

Just remember that they only take cash or check. I forgot and had to drive all over the hill trying to find a cash machine :)

Worth every penny.. Absolutely the best butcher I've been to. Great looking meats, perfect jerky, and huge variety of sausages. Friendly, knowledgeable staff can help you prepare any meal. HIGHLY recommended.
