Nice place for late night coffee – This review is for the Lower Queen Anne branch - it seems that some of the other reviewers were actually reviewing other locations, such as West Seattle. The coffee and desserts are not outstanding but I've found the quality to be reliable, although the dessert selection is somewhat limited. Service is friendly. A couple of times I asked them about the ingredients in a coffee drink whose name I didn't recognize (it was probably something that Uptown Espresso just made up) and they happily explained. I rarely have cash so I tend to pay with a debit card and sometimes feel bad about it when I'm making a small purchase at a small cafe or restaurant (they have to pay fees to the card processor when they are paid with a card, so they make less money). When I apologize for not having cash and using a debit card, Uptown staff always says it's no big deal - and they say it like they really mean it and don't mind, which makes me feel better! Late nights during the week are perfect for working on your laptop because there is plenty of seating and it's quiet. They're open until 10 pm Mon-Thu, which I guess is when most people go to bed on weeknights, but I wish they were open later, at least until 11 pm.
Bad service – Always always a different barista everytime i have even gone there are new people who have no idea what they are doing. The food is okay , dont like pinapple-apple pie.( the crust is amazing though.) And croissants are changin overcooked- undercooked. Muffins undercooked and so are the cookies most the time.
Latte lovers stop in for a drink after nearby art venues empty out. – In Short
Two espresso bars keep the drinks flowing at especially busy times, which often occur before or after well-attended films at the neighboring Uptown Cinemas or performing arts events at the Seattle Center. In the mornings, locals hang out and read, chat or work on laptops. In addition to espresso, sample an array of breakfast sweets and after-dinner cakes.
Uptight Espresso – I have visited the West Seattle branch of Uptown Espresso several times in the last two months it has been open. I must say it is the WORST espresso bar in the entire city. The baristas (there's a new one every day) are not very helpful and seem very miserable. I order drinks for myself and co-workers and so I don't always no which one is which. Unlike Starbucks, which writes what's what on the cup, Uptown told me to do that myself. Not only that, they don't even put the lids on the cups. This is the reason that Uptown Espresso is beginning to be referred to as UPTIGHT ESPRESSO in my neighborhood.
the Best Coffee Shop in Seattle – Highly consistent; Great soy lattes; Unquie blend of drinks...ones with orange peels and others with mint sprigs; People are Seattlites---go figure...friendly...but not fake...Real Chai (no creamer added) and Extra foamy on the Latte. NEVER had a Bad cup of coffee!!
I don't understand how a city with a reputation for great espresso can make such bad espresso so popular.
Several times at different uptown locations I have tried espresso and cappuccinos and have been amazed at how poor they taste. I rarely go to starbucks; however, the times I have the superautomatic machines with charred coffee beans have managed to pull me a better shot.
QA Uptown is cool! – I had a good Barista, she was friendly and helpful. The lattes are delicious and the atmosphere enjoyable. Try their muffins for bfast.
Home of the Velvet Foam! – The sliding glass that opens to make it hard to tell where the 4th ave sidewalk ends and their living room begins. Their big comfy leather chairs and unique decor are quite inviting. Then when I had my first latte I quickly learned why Uptown is indeed as they boast to be the "home of the velvet foam." So nice! I'm hooked and happy that I live in belltown and get to go to uptown!
yummers – I think the coffee, service and atmosphere is great at the Belltown location. Love ya Uptown!
Best Soy Latte that you ever had – I love the Belltown location! As a frequent visitor from Vancouver, I find the service fast and friendly. Even with 20 people in line, the wait is never more than 5 minutes!
