Boycott until this place is no longer in Seattle.
Here's the deal....take a bowl fill with some Ramen noodle flavor packets and throw in some raw meats, vegtables and bring to a roaring boil. Ooooh YUMMO! Wow, what Mc Culture can do for you. If you believe you've found a real gem all the power to you.
Perhaps, we need to think about what a restaurant is considered to be now days. This is not a restaurant...no...no.........please don't let curiosity lead you to disapointment, nausea, and utter disgust.
A total insult to humanity. It is ironic that City Search wants me to be fair and not compare this place to a neighborhood taco stand. The whole night was a joke. So I won't compare. I'll just go to the taco stand instead. Our time there was spent wondering why people settle for less. Plus take pride in spending lot on garbage. It would be different if there was some sort of dignity and quality in other words something worth the money. It's so embarassing to think people think that the place is good and even recomend it to others. I wouldn't recommend licking the sidewalk. Maybe some would. But really stay far far away from this "cheezy" place.
Great place for dessert--YUM!. I've never had a problem getting a table here, even though most people rant about that. I've always come with 3+ people and that's the deal (fondues are about $10/ea and feed 2 healthy grown women). Chocolate and cheese fondues are awesome. I would recommend not coming on the weekdays as the time I went it was date-city, a bit uncomfortable when you're there with girlfriends.
A Good Experience. First of all, I was so impressed with the wine selection. They have an extensive list of wine, and wines that are $75 under are half off on Wednesdays, which happened to be the day we went there. We ordered the "Big Night Out." The food is ok, but there is nothing amazing about it. It's nothing you couldn't do at home only if you had fondue gadgets. But, we were absolutely stuffed!!! The service was great. For a couple looking for some intimate dining experience, I would recommend asking for one of the L-shape seats when they make reservation. I don't think I wanna go back some time soon because the food is not impressive, which is fine, I wasn't expecting amazing food. It was a fun experience nonetheless.
Avoid this restaurant. We ate recently at the Melting Pot and were very disappointed. It is expensive and the food used is shockingly poor quality and did not seem fresh. It is surprising this place stays in business considering how good so many other restaurants are.
Just experience it~. Went there around Oct. 2005 at night around 9:00 which the kitchen is about to close; so we were kind of in a rush in last call. The food was ok, but I love the plenty amout of cheese that our waiter left for us! It was plenty of cheese to melt in the pot that I think I have ate my whole month worth supply of cheese :) The meat and veggie were not top quality, but you dine here for the atmosphere and experience, not really a restaurant for gourmet. It was kind of hard to get our servant's attention, however. He only checked on us when he brings over the food, and we have to ask for other waiter to help us get stuff we need. The dessert chocolate is always a enjoyable entry, with fruits and cake, always a treat for sweet tooth like me!
Worst experience at an upscale restaurant. On our first night out since we had our first kid, we were glad to see the place was pretty empty thinking we're going to get sitted pretty quickly. Wrong, we were told the wait was 15 minutes. After 30 mins I had to ask if our seats were ready. They quickly sat us down and walked away without giving us water or even ask us for drink orders. After another 40 mins I told my wife we should leave because at this rate it'll probably another 1.5 hours before we're all done. And that is what we did. Too bad I didn't get to try their food, but with their service and prices it would have to make me break out in songs to overcome my experience.
I dont get it.... I definitely dont know where these people went, but everytime I go to the Melting Pot, I have awesome service and great food. It is pricey but for the ambiance and the food, its totally worth it. I've been there at least 5 or 6 times and have never had a bad experience. And for those who complain about "having to cook your own food", thats the idea. Thats the exact reason for the restaurant. Thats what makes it such a great place. Wonderful first date spot! I tell everyone to go there!
Good but wallet draining. Okay, I love... love love love the cheese fondue. The dessert one is pretty good, too. I'm not big on meat, but even that was kind of fun and good. The atmosphere is romantic and intimate. I was with a party of four, and we were put at a table with only one burner. That meant we all had to agree on the same kind of cheese fondue, broth, and dessert stuff. Which can kind of suck for the price you're paying. That's the biggest drawback. Plus, when I'd been there before with just one person we ordered the cheese fondue for two. It was the same amount of cheese we got as when I went again with a party of four. Only I paid twice as much. So that was a bit of a downer and left us all wanting more cheese.
So Gouda! Happiest Happy Hour. If you like cheese, then the Melting Pot happy hour IN THE BAR is where you need to be. For under $100, my two girlfriends and I were able to sit at a corner table for 3 hours and snack on 2 cheese fondue pots ($8!! hh price), a delish salad ($3.50!!) and a chocolate dessert fondue. Oh, not to mention the 4 glasses of cab each. WHAT A DEAL! Nice, dark, cozy (with fireplace), pretty good service and basically left alone to graze.
