This long time Denny Regrade bar got all gussied up a few years ago but retains it's old time character including a beautiful old bar and a jewel box theater which hosts live music, cabaret, cineoke and a wide variety of other grass roots performance pieces. Full bar and food service late into the night and a pint sized patio seals the deal.

Bad experience – I don't even know where to begin. We arrived ~30 minutes early for Tempest Burlesque presents "Sinful Sunday". We figured we would get there a little early to get a drink and get a good seat. Once we tried to get into the theater we were told the doors don't open until 10pm. However their website and flyer posted outside said show starts at 10pm.

After having a couple of drinks (grape knee high which wasnt very good and a rum and coke which u really cant mess up) we noticed a few people going into the theater we figured they were letting people in. Nope! Well, at least, not us. At this point we asked what time the show was suppose to start since there was obvious confusion and nobody seemed to know.

Eventually, 10pm arrived and we were allowed to go in. Once we got in all the decent seats/booths were taken and we were forced to sit in the very front and in very uncomfortable restaurant/diner seats. So it looks like they were letting all their friends go in and get the seats they wanted first.

So there we are sitting and waiting and waiting and waiting. The clock keeps ticking and ticking and ticking. 10:30 rolls around and nothing. We ask again what time is the show starting and again nobody knows.

Since we had to sit up front we also sat by the "dancers" entrance and saw a girl walk in and say "I am here". So apparently we were waiting for someone cause she was late.

Finally the show starts at 11pm on a Sunday night. What was called a burlesque show should have been called a gay and lesbian variety show. Even then it would have still sucked.

We decided to leave at intermission. We didn't have another 2 hours to wait around.

Great atmosphere, good cheap food – I love the Rendezvous. The atmosphere is sort of 1920's, with high boothes, red walls, dark, swanky, sultry. The food is good too, nothing fancy, but they have good food for a good price. You can get a sandwich with either salad or fries for about $7.00 and they have really good ones like chicken with carmelzied onions and basalmic vinegar, served hot. Vegetarian options too like the portabello sandwich or grilled cheese with tomatoes and carmalized onions.

The best time I had at the Rendezvous was my birthday party last year. You can reserve their Velvet Room upstairs for up to 30-40 people for no fee as long as you spend at least $200.00 (which for 30 people is definately not a problem). The Velvet Room is aptly named with lots of big red velvet couches and ottomans, with some tables and candles. Our cocktail waitress was great.

Most of the servers are awesome, although I have had bad service from one of the bartenders. Definately recommended for happy hour or private parties in the Velvet Room.

Fantasic Food, Drinks and Service! – The Rendezvous is a great place to hang out and attracts all types, it's classy in an old way, very warming and inviting. The heart of the old drive bar remains, but dressed up for a new age. I highly recommend the food, it's more that a step above normal pub fare. It's does get crowded on weekend nights, so expect a bit of wait to find a place to sit down. Theres a basement bar that is normally for private parties, but take a look and see if its open, also take a look to see whats transpiring in the theater. The staff is always a delight and the drinks are stiff.

VERY MEAN BARTENDER - BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE – Ok the bar is cool. Just do not go to the rear bar (there are 2 bars). The bartender who works there (don't know his name) is completely unpleasant. He ignored us while we stood there, when he did get to us, I ordered, he filled up someone's beer and placed it in front of me so I thought it was mine, but he YELLED rudely: "That's not your beer" then when i payed him for my beer, i took my time putting my money back in my wallet while he stood there and stared at me, then said to me" If you are not going to tip me, then you can forget about ever coming to my bar again" This is too outrageous to be made up. It really happened.

Old-school cinema pub gets a makeover and draws a kinder, gentler crowd. – In Short
With a large front window, raised ceiling, upstairs seating and furnishings taken from the old Opera House, this Belltown classic has cleaned up just enough to be approachable. The Jewel Box Theater shows regular films and features cabarets frequently. The bar is usually busy enough to keep things entertaining without making it impossible to find a seat.

Fun, Busy, Great Date Spot – Been to the Rendezvous a few times - love the atmosphere they've created and the theatre is one of those great quirky spots that make a city special. It can get really busy and the service has a hard time keeping up, but they're suprisingly polite and aim to please. Great spot for drinking, socializing, meeting people. We were extra lucky one Thursday as a whole group of clowns randomly stopped by to party themselves and entertaine the already diverse crowd. Nachos weren't too bad either.

Rendezvous=Rock'n'Roll – When I got there they were playing the Sonics, the Stooges, and the Stones on the stereo. That's a great sign that they know what rock is. I drank Bud and it was 2.50 a bottle which is very reasonable for that area. The DT's, an Estrus band, played that night, more great rock. If you can handle the small(very)room, you're in for one hell of a night. They usually have something most every night. **** out of ***** Well worth it!

Holy Makeover! – The dive bar of old has transformed itself into a great place to go when sober! Relaxed and very comfortable place. Perfect to meet friends for drinks. Great upstairs for more intimate meetings. Reminiscent in feel to the sadly departed OK Hotel. It's no good if you want a flashy pickup bar, but Belltown is crawling with them.
