Buffalo Deli is not good!!! – The food is very inconsistent. It is down right gross sometimes. We get it delivered at work if you order it off your computer and so if you can't leave and need to eat you are stuck. I throw it out a lot after one bite. It's never warm when its supposed to be the bread is never fresh. The salads can taste like they came from a dumpster. Too much garlic, all the time and it's not even good garlic. probably old like most of their soups. I'm surprised she is still in business..oh, by the way, she wouldn't be if she were actually in NY...
Meatloaf Sandwich – The first time I went to the Buffalo Deli, I tried the meatloaf sandwich; now every time I go back, I just get the meatloaf sandwich and still have not tried anything else. Why stray? The meatloaf sandwich is a winner; word out is they make it fresh daily; no wonder they tend to run out of it during the later wee hours of lunch time. I did hear that their egg salad sandwiches are to die for and one day I will try the French Dip as I heard its out of this world, but for now, I'm stil in meatloaf mode.
GIVE IT A TRY- COULD BE VERY GOOD - OR REALLY , OH WELL JUST READ THE REVIEW! – The Buffalo Deli is just that a deli thats from Buffalo NY thats located is Seattle. It is not a New York City deli. Now that being said. The lunch menu diverse, in fact I feel if they just stuck to a couple soups and sandwiches and did them spectacular they would really improve.
The sandwiches are good when the deli staff :"is on", but later in the week you can get the same sammy thats horrible!?. Ok, that being said. The soups are good. The roasted vegetables ( again on a good day ) can be phenom.
I feel that the prices could be alot more reasonable, yet they do a good lunch business. You can easy split one of their sandwiches. Coffee avg. Cookie ok. The Buffalo Deli does deliver, which is a plus on a rainey Seattle day. If in the area and your hungry give it a try. If what you see does not seem appealing-keep walking. Service can be really slow, so expect a wait at lunch.
It's just the inconsistency that really annoys me.
delicious matzo ball soup! – I've had several sandwiches there, which varied from good to excellent. One friend of mine is crazy for their BLT, and another their roast beef. Their matzo ball soup is my favorite chicken soup in town.
The service is friendly but not cloying; although the staff is usually insanely busy during the lunch rush I always appreciate the atmosphere of Old School Seattle easygoing civility.
For your HARD EARNED $$$. QUANITY IS NOT QUALITY!!!! – Have to really laugh! Is the "belltown chef" the owner of THE BUFFALO DELI?
Ok, heres the scoop. First, Cash only. Second, depending on the day it will make or break your lunch experience. Start of the week fresh soups, bread, meats etc. Actually, the soups are really the best thing they have going and usually consistent. The meat-loaf is really horrible!/as is the bread . The veggies will past the test. Spend your hard earned $$ elsewhere. Tis place is REALLY expensive for the quality, not to say the quanity/ you get mounds, but who wants cardboard?. Cookie OK, coffee generic. For a City full of choices, the Buffalo Deli does not pass the mustard.
Love the food – Always have great food at the deli..french dip is so good. Friendly service and good coffee.Get there before the lunch rush.
OK soups. Go on a Monday when food and rolls/bread is fresh. CASH ONLY POLICY! – Ok, being from NY expected a NYC style deli. Gee was I wrong! service lazy and slow. Beef on traditional kimmelwick ( a city of Buffalo NY speciality ) -a real horror story, tough grey meat on a salty stale role. Cheese sandwich was passable as was the egg salad. Sent the pastrami sandwich back -stale bread also only to get a shrug and " SOOO--??? wat you want now? " OK, Seattle deseves better! Stick with the soups they are good. Ask for mgmt. employes stated they where the management. If this place would be cleaned up and run properly would be a gold mine ( probably already is )
Also, CASH ONLY POLICY???. Interesting!
Editorial Review – Hearty sandwiches, subs and salads make up the menu at this popular Belltown lunch spot.
Seattle Style Deli – Regardless of what the menu says, this place is a Seattle style deli, NOT New York style. In a New York deli you would get at a minimum 2-3x the quantity of meat they put on their sandwiches.
Once you understand that, you can appreciate the Buffalo Deli. Their food is good, the portions are good, the price is a little high on some items...but the subs are an excellent value!
Another plus is the have not been impacted by cookie inflation. You can get a very nice cookie there for $0.75. Not that anyone needs a cookie after one of their subs...
I don't get the good reviews – I have had 4 items off the menu and only liked one, the cheese sub. The beef weck was horrible, grey meat overpowered by the horseradish spread. The pastrami and vegetarian sandwiches were nothing special. Of course I judge all deli's by NY/NJ east coast standards and this one doesn't come close to the good ones there. And the service is maddenly slow.
