great experience with Fredrick & Alexander – I went to Etherea and had my haircut from Fredrick! It was a job well done! He was fun and friendly! The staff there was friendly and professional. I also had a thorough consultation with Alexander Scott about thermal relaxing for my next visit. Can't wait to return!

Entirely Disappointing ...Tired of Phillip! – I went to Etherea to see Phillip, he has been my stylist for about a 2 years now. I followed him there from another 3 other Aveda salons, this is now his 4th. First of all, the parking was a disaster, couldn't find street parking, and had to pay $17 to park in a lot, and it made me late to my appointment, and that made Phillip very annoyed. He was tugging on my hair as he was cutting and blow-drying it -he was just so negative and bitter, as he had someone else waiting that was also late due the horrible parking. I have followed him from several Aveda salons. 4 salons in like 2 years, ..that he probably, I am now thinking he got fired from them all, because he always has such mean things to say about his previous salons. Why doesn't he ever have anything nice to say? I feel like he sings my praises, but it's really fake. I for about a year had to hear his bitterness about his previous employer, then I followed him to another salon, and heard nothing but gossip about the other employer. To be kind and professional, it is entirely inappropriate to bad mouth your previous places you worked at ...at least he had a jobs in this economy! Now, I followed him to his latest place, Etherea, in which the place was like a ghost town, and very dirty, and it was awful. Bad decor, snobby and rude people, parking was expensive, then I have to sit and listen for 2 hours of gossip about his latest previous employer. I have seen Phillip order people around, and I just never know what kind of mood he is going to be in. Either he is really nice, but it seems like he just cares about my money and not me, or he is just gossiping away about all of his "horrible" ex-bosses. I came to know the last one, and it is obvious he was fired, and as I sat down, he once again proceeded to tell me awful things as usual about his recent previous boss. So, I follow him from 1 salon to another to another, I listen to him, I hear all the gossip as I have come to expect, but as I sat there this time, I began to wonder ...if all he does is gossip about his prior salons, the problem is probably not with his ex-salons, but with Phillip. Why can't he stay in one place? Why does he jump from salon to salon, bad-mouthing everyone and every other salon in the city? I have decided I am tired of listening to his drama, and I want someone to listen to how I want my hair done, not the latest scoop as to why he has changed salons ONCE again. I am going back to his previous Aveda salon in West Seattle ...they were really nice there, and there was parking, and I felt very comfortable. So tired of listening to Phillip and his drama!!!

Go see Sofia! – I went for my first haircut, and had the best experience! All of the staff were very friendly, and I left the salon feeling wonderful. Sofia is an incredible hairstylist - she really listens, takes her time, and does a fabulous job!

go see Alexander Scott – It had been awhile since my last haircut, as I am growing out my hair. My layers were a mess, and my hair looked dead, so I didn't know what to do. I thought I was going to have to take a lot off the length to make my hair look good again. I explained to Alexander that I wanted to keep my hair long if possible, but with more volume. Most stylists take this to mean that I want an upside down U in the back of my head with layers, which is not true! I told Alexander that I didn't know what to do to make my hair look better, so I trusted him to make the decision. My hair turned out AMAZING. he took the time to make sure my layers were symmetrical, which I really appreciate since that often does not happen. He also walked me through how to style my hair the way he did since I usually used a different round brush than he did. He then told me what products to mix, so now I can style my hair the same as he did. I was very satisfied with my haircut and will be going back to Alexander Scott for my next appointment.

Alexander Scott is fantastic – i highly recommend alexander scott - hair stylist. i have a few friends who had been clients of his at another salon and when i saw their cuts i said - "whoa - who did your hair?" i was truly happy with my cut - he has a knack for styling that goes way beyond his years, an eye for geometry, and got my hair to behave in ways i didn't think was possible. i know a scott will be going places in this business. get in while you can!

also - very nice warm staff at etherea too.

Awesome Hair & Friendliest employees!!! – OK so never written a review before but I'm bored at work and getting my hair done tomorrow figured I'd mess around on computer look up stuff and I find my favorite hairstylist totally trash talked on this website. I have been going to etherea for over two years and have never had anything less than excellent service from my hairstylist and all of the other people who work there. I get my hair done by mercedes and I have never had so many compliments on my hair color ever in my life and I've been coloring it for 8 years now. Not only do I love love love my hair I also love going to get it done because I get treated like a queen very time I enter their salon (complimentary foot soaks and sometimes facials are such a treat!). I'm sorry but I'm sure whoever has a bad thing to say about mercedes or the salon must have a personal grudge because myself and the several people I have referred to her love what she does.

Joe P. can be found at Etherea! – Clients of Joe, formerly of Habitude at the Locks, will be happy to know he is doing his magic at Etherea in Belltown. If you haven't been his client before, you can expect to be listened to, cared for, and flattered by his work. Joe's application of color is skillful, his cuts are careful, and the total effect in my experience has been nothing short of fantastic. The fact that he is a sweet and considerate guy is just a bonus!

Erica is Fabulous – I met Erica when Charlie was in from Sheer Genius; my son and I were hair models at that time, Erica did a great job on my sons very long, very curly hair biracial hair.

I scheduled a color and cut with Erica and she is buy far the best stylist I have been to in years, she is friendly, caring, attentive and best of all I came out with the color and exact cut that I wanted. Thank you Erica you are wonderful!

great service,they care,Beauiful wig work – I just was visiting the reviews of my favorite salon and thought I would write about my visit to Etherea. A year ago this month I was diagnosed with cancer. I have been getting by hair done at Etherea salon for several years. I told my stylist I had to go through treatment and I was worried about losing my hair. She assured me that she has worked with several clients that have gone through the same experience and let me know she would take care of my hair. She came to my home and measured my head for a wig. She bought the wig for me color it, cut it and styled it. Then came back over to my house (because I was to embarrassed to leave) to shave my hair that was falling out by the hand fulls. When she finished the wig looked exactly like my own hair. I am still battling cancer and Lisa still treats me as part of the Etherea family and comes over to see me on a regular bases to wash and style my hair. I saw the last reviews and find them to be quite silly, they are lucky to have their health, let alone their hair.

They can't even get Guy's hair right – Right after I got my horrible haircut (by Mercedes) I had to bring my brother into get his by another Man who works there (don't remember his name) because he already had an appointment and I thought how bad can he be. Well First didn't listen to one thing that we said. Wouldn't carry on a conversation with my brother. And rushed to finish it because he had over booked himself. That was the last time I went.

foot soaks, Aveda products, nice group of people – I went in to get my hair color done and received a foot soak it was so nice. While I was waiting to be shampooed a nice girl came up and offered me a brow shaping she did a incredible job her name was Taryn I also had a nice facial with her she is great. I just went in for my hair and walked out feeling relaxed and glowing. Thanks Etherea

Great Aveda Perms, Wonderful Experience – I love Etherea Salon I wanted a great new look for Summer Perm and Color went in and saw owner Lisa Vann from a article I read about her perms. I was a blonde with all the same length hair when I went in and came out with dark brown hair with big soft curl. It was exactly what I wanted and I love it. The team was great and I enjoyed my foot soak while I had to wait for my color to be done. thank you Etherea and Lisa Vann

Gross Indeed - Buyer Beware!! – I recently had my haircut at Etherea, they were having a promotion and its near my work so I gave it a try. Big Mistake. Worst haircut ever! Thats not the worst of it though, when I contacted the salon requesting a refund, all I got was resistance and arguements, and ultimately, a denial of a refund. To do so, I would have to come in and let them 'redo' their first mistake. After the confrontation put up by the owner, I would be far too uncomfortable to set foot in there again. Not to mention that I did not sign up for some sort of employee training session to maybe eventually get a decent haircut. The owner claims he is trying everything he can to resolve this issue, but it all comes down to ME having to sacrifice and be inconvienced, not Etherea. No thanks. (update - I did eventually get a refund, and an official "professional" i'm sure telling off by the owner - it was indeed a 'heavenly' experiece!)

I dealt multiple times with the owner himself, and he could learn a bit about customer service, he far eclipsed his too green to be charging money stylist in making this a bad experience.

The place is also quite dumpy, not at all what you'd expect from a Aveda Belltown Salon/Spa. Don't be fooled by the initial entrance, it goes downhill fast once you get back to the chairs.

I agree with the other negative reviewers, the high praise this place gets is surely from the staff. It was unprofessional (down to the owner), dingy and not at all what you expect from a salon experience.

Spare yourself the money down the drain and heartache and go to any of the other plentiful good salons in the area.

This year alone we have raised money for Puget Sound keepers, GSBA Scholars, nominated for North American Hairstylist 2008, Supported locks of love,Habitat for humanity,Ruby room, Aids alliance just to name a few. We are a team that wants our guests and co workers to "Feel Heavenly" We always will be willing to work with any guest who may have a challenge in the salon when brought to our attention. Mercedes has been with us for almost 2 years and is considered new to this industry we support her fully and have been very proud of what she has achieved at our salon in such a short time. She has grown so much as a stylist and has presented beautiful work and has the clientele to show for that. Our team was hurt to read such an attack on a new stylist at our salon. We feel every new stylist should have a chance to grow and over come any challenges. We as a team support each other 100%. We did not have a chance to do so with this client it was never brought to anyone's attention. We have never had a complaint in regards to Mercede's work. gross – I guarantee the 5 star reviews were written by the staff. The place is a joke. That Mercedes stylist is the WORST. There are too many great salons in this city to settle for this one.

Master Waxer – I love Belinda! Professional, funny and incredible at what she does. Belinda is fast and does an amazing job. I have never had a better eyebrow wax. I will go back!

Giving a shout out to MOLLY at Etherea - she's AMAZING! – Lots of great reviews on Citysearch for a salon I've now been going to for years. Agreed, the atmosphere is very casual, so be prepared for that - personally, I think it's part of their charm.

Molly only works one day a week - Friday - and I'm really missing her right now...she's on vacation, so I'm going to another Etherea for a haircut today. Here's what I love so much about Molly.

-She has an authentic demeanor. Friendly and mellow, not overly chatty, very sweet. I totally relax in her care.

-She really thinks carefully about what she's going to do to my hair. She asks good questions and listens, and isn't afraid to make suggestions that (in my experience) always result in a cut and color that is BETTER than what I envisioned.

-my cut and color are very complicated; I have stick-straight hair and want natural-looking highlights that grow out nicely...because I don't have the money or time to visit the salon more than 3 times a year. That's right - I only get my hair done three times a year. You probably think I'm nuts, but I'm not kidding - the cut and color grow out that well! No creepy roots, no weird unshapely layers. That said, I'm way overdue and look forward to getting my cut at Etherea this afternoon. I'm sure it will be great, because Etherea is great, but....

Great friendly relaxed wonderful staff – I read reviews and made haircut and color appointment with Lisa Vann. She is great she gave me a wonderful consultation and she waited until I was ready to change my hair. We looked at hair books and she showed me a picture of exactly what she was going to do before she colored my hair it turned out just like the picture I love it.....

Mitch is great! – I get my hair cut from Mitch. Every time I see him I just let him do whatever he wants with my hair. I always get compliments! He's very passionate about what he does and it shows. He's always willing to learn more. I think that people who are actively seeking more education for what they do are the best people to go to!

Best stylist Lisa Vann ,Friendly staff ,great products Aveda – I went into Lisa Vann for a perm consultation ,I was referred to her from my current salon to get a perm. They said she is the best in Seattle with perming hair, They where right, I had the consult and had to book the perm appointment 6 weeks out ,but it was worth the wait she did a amazing job adding texture to my fine limp hair. Everyone at work could not stop talking about my new look. Nobody could believe it was a perm. I look great and feel great, I hate to tell my old salon that I have a new stylist now.

Went in for a facial – Alison was amazing! She did my facial and was very professional. She spoke very softly, background music was the right tempo and she was always careful to make me feel comfortable - right pressure, etc.. I strongly suggest coming about 30 minutes in advance to take advantage of the steam room in the back. It is a bit small, so I wouldn't recommend the entire-day treatment since you might feel as if you were "in the way." But Alison was very courteous and I loved her.

Beware of the Front Desk personal!!! They were rude, unattentive, and blatant with their disgust of customer service. When I arrived early, I had to introduce myself (NO GREETING and they didn't even look up to acknowledge my existence!). Later the phone rang and the receptionist let it ring a few hundred times before picking it up. Just shrug it off. It'll be okay.

In the end, I left in a trance.... Alison was great!

Best Manicures and Pedicures – I was referred by a friend and I have to say the whole experience was heavenly. Foot scrub and massage were my favorite part and the beautiful polish still reminds me of my great experience. I'm gonna be a regular.

Fabulous hair! – Mercedes is an awesome stylist. She always comes up with great fresh ideas for a new look or how to spuce up an old one. She has cut my hair twice now and I would recommend her to everyone. The entire staff is very friendly, a great salon experience!

NOt where you want to go if you want an upscale spa experience – I have been to several spas in the NW and this was not what I expected when itcame to a spa. The spa is very small and the services were not scheduled well. My friend and I had a full day of treatments from 11-7. The massage was pretty good, but having to wait because the staff was not ready for me was uncomfortable because there was no place to wait while in a robe. I had to sit on this ottoman in a small room that sat in the middle of a bunch of doors that opened up to the different service rooms. While I sat there I watched general house keeping duties being done and listened to the staff interact about their personal business. This is not what I wanted to listen to. After my facial I was told that my manicure was going to be 30 minutes away. I sat in the steam room for awhile and then once again I had no where to go. It was very uncomfortable. When it was luch time I once again had to sit on the ottoman in the middle of everything and eat. My overall impression of this spa is that doesn't feel professional. I didn't feel totally relaxed until I had my facial and that was because I was in a room that was away from the staff and the water pipes turning on and off. I did get a great haircut from Kristale so I was happy about that. The make-up application was not done well nor was the manicure or pedicure. Everything seemed so rushed. None of the employees knew that we were having a full spa day so there was not this feeling of being taken care of for the day. When I go to a spa again I am definiltly going to another spa. I want to feel pampered and feel like the hustle and bustle of life is gone for a few hours. Listening to staff talk about there personal life or how they can't wait until they are off is not what I would like to hear when I am in a spa. I would like to say though if you would just like to pop in for a great massage then this is a good place. Then you can have your message and go on with your day.

Go see Crista Tribble - best haircut & style in town!! – I've been seeing Crista for hair cuts, coloring & styling for years and have followed her to her new location at Etherea. Her knowledge of new styles, fresh cuts, and hair care are invaluable - she keeps my look clean and current while maintaining my personal style. I HIGHLY recommend going to see her to update your current hairstyle or get a new look.

Mercedes does it everytime! – I'm so happy i finally found Mercedes! Everytime I go in, she either does exactly what i ask for, or if i'm not sure what i want, she gives me professional suggestions that make me look great :) She has taken me from light to dark, and back to light perfectly.

I'm a permanent customer at Etherea because of the exellent survice I recieve from Mercedes at every appointment!

Anna Banana Rocks – I'm an ugly guy and Anna makes me feel like a "SUPERSTAR", she's a miracle worker and I believe up for Sainthood!

AWESOME STYLISTS: ANNA, MITCH, CRISTA ! – Anna, Mitch, and Crista are all FANTASTIC stylists that used to work at Schlabitude. They weren't valued enough so they busted out and landed at Etherea! I'm so happy for them and know they will continue to rock the house and go on to do many great things! Good luck you guys and CONGRATULATIONS! Etherea is lucky to have ya!

Belinda rocks! – After years of complaints about my waxing experiences at other salons, a couple of girlfriends insisted I try Belinda at Etherea. I will be forever kicking myself for waiting so long to take their advice. Other salons left me red, puffy, and tender at best. But Belinda manages to make the whole experience ejoyable - she's quick, it's relatively pain-free, and she's a delight to chat with. She is THE BEST. I love her. My bikini line loves her. You will love her too.

Best wax I've ever had! – On a recommendation, I made a visit to the Etherea Spa specifically for waxing by Belinda. As it turns out, she's worth the trip from Denver! Now, whenever I'm able to visit Seattle, I specifically schedule a visit to Etherea for her services! She's a lovely woman with a great amount of professionalism and talent. Waxing doesn't top my list of favorite things to do....but it must be done and you may as well go to the best!!

Best Brow Waxing EVER! – Do yourself a favor ... if you're looking to get your eyebrows waxed, go to Belinda! I went to Belinda for years and then moved to North Seattle. I made the mistake of going to a name-to-be-withheld but well-known local salon for my waxing needs. MISTAKE! I have found the error in my ways and I am back to Belinda. She is fast but thorough, yet manages to make the experience relaxing. The proof is in the results ... the compliments about my brows have returned! (Plus, she's a good therapist. Helped me from freaking out while being in law school and planning my wedding ... at the same time.)

Belinda is the Master! – I've been going to Etherea salon for years and am a little embarrased that I am just now writing a review!

Everyone there is lovely, from the people at the front desk to the stylists, but the real reason I go is for waxings by Belinda. Not only is she sweet and professional, but rarely do I experience any problems following a waxing. At other salons I've had skin ripped off and severe redness for a week after my waxing!

This lady is the only person I let touch my arches, and I also hear she gives a mean facial. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment.

Best service – My experience at Etherea was more than I could have hoped for. The cut and color consultation was based on my face shape and skin tone along with the color of my eyes. My Stylist David O, who happenes to be a Hawaii transplant was increadible. This is by far the best hairstyle Ive had in Years. Cant wait to go back in 6 weeks for my fallow up. LOVE IT>>>>

Heaven... I'm in Heaven – I could not have been more pleased... Simply one of the best salon experiences I have had EVER!!! Staff is warm and welcoming especially Rusty at the front desk. Scheduling is flexible and accomodating. Oh and the complimentary service of a foot soak offered was to die for... while waiting thru the processing time on my foil to pass I soaked then was soothed by the cooling tingley comforts of Aveda Hand and Foot Relief products. Gina did an awesome job on my foil... I played with make-up, enjoyed witty banter and all this on a HOT Friday afternoon in the summer of Seattle. Oh yes, and all of this without being overwhelmed with the harsh chemically smells of standard foils. ha. AB-SO-LUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

Most relaxing facial ever, great hair cut and color, so-so ambience – I have gone to many places for facials (even other Aveda salons) and this was, by far, the best. During the acupressure, I almost dozed off I was so relaxed. Best of all, my skin glowed after.

I recently got my hair cut and colored by Laura. I requested that she "shake things up a bit," and she really did. I have received many compliments on my new do. She was fun to talk to and I enjoyed the foot bath while I was processing.

One thing they might improve upon is the ambience. I hate to be nit picky, but the floors looked pretty cruddy and brought down the overall feel of the salon. I will be back, but I think the atmosphere may turn off some clients who want the whole high end package.

this is heaven! – I love this place, with its down to earth staff who you can tell that they love working together. Rusty at the desk is so cute.

Wonderful place!! – My partner had set up appointments for us both on a Saturday afternoon. We were working on getting our house ready to sell. So.I was rather grumpy and looked like hell, (paint clothes on and all) when I walked in for my appointment. No one even blinked at the site of this disheveled woman. I was greeted warmly and checked in promptly. I was there for a facial and a hair cut. The facial was first and it was absolutely wonderful!!! Ive had facials in the past but Alice is the tops!!! I was soooo relaxing and wonderful. Then off to get my hair cut. I dont remember the ladies name but she was very good and my hair looks great. Needless to say I walked out of there feeling exactly the opposite of when I walked in. Its truly is a wonderful, warm, gentle place.

great job! – I went to Etherea today and had my hair cut by Nihad. He did a fabulous job on my hair. He took his time, asked me what I wanted- very professional. I would recommend this place to my friends and family without any qualms.

Love this Salon – I went into Etherea to get my haircolor and cut and I was at first a bit frustrated because I had to wait 3 months for my appointment to see Lisa Van. It was worth the wait. Lisa showed me some of latest/forthcoming styles in hair with Aveda and created a new color and cut just for me! It was something that I never would have thought of myself but now my husband and friends think it was just the look for me! I'll be back!!!

Disappointing – The stylist messed up my color and the front desk staff was not accomodating about scheduling a time to fix it. Instead of trying to fix the problem, the woman who answered the phone was simply snotty.

erin rocks – i went in for a massage and it was one of the best i've ever had. the whole staff was extremely attentive. They have always been personable and the environment is pretty cozy.

Disappointed – I went to Etherea Salon to have my hair dyed and foiled. While the staff was welcoming and friendly, my hair turned out terrible. I asked for a chestnut brown dye and subtle auburn highlights, but I got strawberry blonde hair and bright yellow blonde highlights that are more like thick unruly stripes. My stylist told me not to worry when I asked him about the off color -- he said he was working his magic and it would look great. I hate to give a poor review because the staff and overall environment was terrific, but I paid good money to leave looking so awful. I definitely won't risk going there again.

celebrity hair – If you want to fell like a celebrity in Seattle you would visit Etherea Salon and see Lisa Vann she is so talented and caring she will give you a great consultation and will not start on your hair until you are ready. She has over 20 years of experience and it shows from traveling around the country weekly educating stylist for Aveda to styling at some of the top fashion events. She has done it all I had such a great time with her I felt like a celebrity when I was done my hair was so amazing I had to spend the rest of the day visiting friends just so they would compliment me on my hair color and cut and they did 3 of them have already called to get in with Lisa

it is a pleassure – Visiting Etherea Salon made my day. The people are super professional and friendly, great atmosphere, they really make you feel like a special guest. Not only they are friendly but also they do a hi quality job. 100% recommended.

Love Lisa Vann – I love reading your reviews on city search. So I checked out Etherea Salon and asked for Lisa Vann. She seems to always get such great response on her work and I also recently read an article about her work with AVEDA, It feature best up and coming colorist in the country. She was everything and more. She gave me a great consultation and the color was from the new looks out by AVEDA I have gotten so may complements since my makeover the attention is new to me but I love it and Ethterea

If you love aveda you will love Etherea salon It has the top Aveda educators working in the salon. The team is friendly and work together well. New to Seattle – I just moved to Seattle and needed someone to do my hair. I had a stylist in New York for 15 years. I ask my stylist Jason what will I do if I cannot find someone he referred me to Lisa in Seattle at Etherea. It was a wait to get in to her but well worth it I am writing because I see a lot of people feel the same way. Lisa is one of the best stylist. I am in the fashion industry and I need a current and porfessional hairstyle and also someone to let me know when to change my look to stay in fashion Lisa will do that for you and she is worth the wait.

Great place very consident – After visiting Etherea Salon for a facial which was wonderful by Belinda. I went to pay and Lisa Vann ask me if I wanted a shampoo & style that would be at no charge. I went with Lisa and had a wonderful scalp treatment, a lovily shampoo and a style that I have always wanted. She was so great at giving information about the products that I did end up and purchase the shampure, brilliant retexturizing gel and the brilliant hair spray which I love to this day. But when I saw leeleebob's review on city search today I had to let you know that Etherea is very consident of these added services I have been offered a added serves almost everytime I visit Etherea. Lisa is my hairstylist for 2 years now and I must say one of the best in the city, if not the best.

Fun and friendly – I went in to etherea salon. To get a message after my message when I was checking out a stylist Lisa Vann ask if I would like a shampoo & style at no cost to me, in addition to the shampoo I also receive a scalp treatment and a beautiful wavey look for my locks. Lisa happen to just get back from styling hair at the Oscar the weekend before and was running a head of schedule it seems she had two colors processing and about 15 minutes to spare. Come to find out Lisa is booked normally 2 months ahead. I have booked my haircut and color with her in April and can not wait to go back. Lisa was so nice to take the time for me I love what she did with my hair. I did not have to leave with oil in my hair. Thanks again
