My daughter had her first daycare experience at Northgate Whizz Kids with the infant teacher, Toya, and my wife and I are thankful that we found her. She is attentive, loving, playful, and very good at communicating with parents. It took our daughter about a week to get accustomed to daycare, during which period Toya made her feel safe. She has moved out of the infant room and into the waddler room where she also loves her two teachers.
The review posted by seriously123 (10/31/2011) strikes me as a mis-representation of what is going on at Northgate Whizz Kids and in Toya's infant classroom. Toya has always been professional and consistent with our daughter and us. Reflecting on my own experience, it seems hard to judge a daycare after only a few incomplete days.
Whizz Kids is a very nurturing place. Our daughter has always been happy there and has received a lot of love, encouragement, and engagement though the activities they do. I've never seen anything but smiling parents when I pick up my daughter. We are really happy that we found Northgate Whizz Kids and recommend it to anyone who asks us.
Caring Childcare. My daughter has been attending Northgate Whizz Kids Academy since she was 3 months old. She loves all her teachers and insists on saying goodbye to all of them when we leave. I have been impressed with the care and teacher interaction with ALL employees. I would HIGHLY recommend Northgate Whizz Kids Academy to anyone!
Best childcare in seattle.
Northgate Whizz Kids Academy is by far the best child care center I have ever been lucky enough to find. I have never seen a daycare that has such a healthy, happy and safe atmosphere for children of any age. Toya was absolutely wonderful with my daughter. A great deal of my daughter's advanced mental development is due to toya's nurturing care and dutiful attention including playing games, learning manners, motor skill exercises and exposure to wide assortment of activities that my daughter fully enjoyed. I had my baby in toya's care everyday weekday from june til november and never one had a problem. Toya never neglected my daughter and was constantly tending to any need she expressed. I couldn't be happier with my daughter's care in the infant room.
Molly's availability to discuss any concerns that might arise also presently surprised me. As much as toya was there to care for my little girl, Molly was there was support me in my decision to put my child in daycare. Molly is more than understanding and was willing to work with me to ease me through my nervousness.
Now my little one has moved from infant room to the waddler room and I still couldn't be happier. All of the teachers are absolutely wonderful with all of the kids. Teachers from other classrooms visit and get to know the smaller children and each one individually helps with the transition to the next class. Toyaeven stops by to visit my daughter in her class to watch her progress and because honestly toya misses her sometimes.
The Staff of Northgate Whizz Kids Academy are priceless child care givers in that they don't this for a paycheck. These are people who genuinely care for our children in every way from comforting them when they miss mommy and daddy, soothing them when they fall, plenty of exercise inside and outside, balanced snacks and meals, a good nap, story time, coloring, and the ever wonderful routine handwashing. I have never been so pleased with any childcare facility and I know I can trust them with the care of my precious possession, my child.
Northgate Whizz Kids is a terrible daycare center! DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE.
The first time I came in for the tour it seemed okay. The first couple of days before i had planned for my son to start daycare I came in to see what the infant room was like. I sat in the infant room with "Toya", the caregiver, for close to an hour and she ignored me and my son for the most part. She was constantly back and forth across the small room and seemed really anxious and kind of irritated. The first day after 2 hours I came to check on my son and "Toya" was holding him but she had her eyes closed, hanging her head and masaging her scalp like she was getting a headache from my son who was looking up at her and looking really scared and also started crying in that instant. I was watching this from the window in the door to the room and so I opened the door and she looked up at me and smiled suddenly. SHE IS FAKE! During the next few weeks I was out of school and getting my shedule ready to go back and I stayed in contact with the manager "Molly". I decided to try agian with these people but my son's first day back was A NIGHTMARE! It had been over 4 hours and I walked in to see my son being held very awkwardly by one of their "floats". I took him from her and she began to tell me how he's been really moody,(this woman is mentally disabled and when I asked why my son hadn't had his bottle this whole time she kept telling me to wait for Toya to get back becuase she wasn't sure).
This woman comes up the stairs, sees me and starts shaking and holding her stomache like she is about to throw up. I asked her why she didn't give my son his bottle for over 4 hours and all she had to say was that I left too soon to tell her when to give it to him. She started shaking and I asked why she seemed so upset and I pointed out that it looked like she was about to cry. Sure enough she starts crying and pacing back and forth through the infant room and in the doorway saying to the manager that she didn't feel well and kept closing the door in my face. She also kept saying the same thing about the bottle apologizing and saying she didn't feel well and she needed to leave. I starting pressing her about why she was acting so weird but she never gave me a straight answer and ended up storming out of the daycare leaving me there holding my son in utter confusion!!
I started to question "Molly" about how weird her staff was acting and I said I have never seen anyone act that way because they were sick. She immediatley got defensive and said nothing was "weird". She kept saying I didn't call before I came in that morning so it was partly my fault that nobody was expecting me and my son to be there. We started shouting back and forth arguing our points going in circles in the middle of the infant room! She never offered me to go in the very next room to her office instead she yelled at me near two other very young infants. Constantly rolling her eyes away from me and turning her body as if she wanted me to leave and end the conversation. So i left feeling freaked out and afraid something may have happened to my son with "Toya" and nobody was even trying to investigate the issue.
As soon as I got home I called and Molly answered the phone. I asked if I should bring my son in the next day and she said, "Yes of course, he's welcome here." And didn't apologize for behaving so unprofessional.
In conclusion, I had to have a relative 2 cities away watch my son while I went to school and now I am missing school to look for child care elsewhere.
Seriously, if you have an infant do not bring your babies to this place. Or older children for that matter. If I had this on video everyone who saw it would never bring their children to Northgate Whizz Kids.
I strongly suggest looking elsewhere!
We ended up at Northgate Whizz Kids almost by chance, but we love it so far and so does our daughter! Since day one, they have been on top of every minor accident and illness. We receive a written notification of even the slightest bump or scratch. The teachers are so friendly and willing to chat about how our daughter is doing socially and developmentally on a daily basis. And the prepared meals are a huge bonus, saving us time and giving us peace of mind that our daughter is eating nutritious meals and snacks.
Whizz Kids also uses an online program to keep parents updated on their child’s activities at day care. This has been so valuable to me as a full-time working mom who misses her child during the day. I can log on anytime at work and see pictures of my daughter having fun with her teachers and friends.
Great neighborhood child care center.
Our son has attended Northgate Whizz Kids for almost 3 years. We highly recommend the staff and the facility.
The school has provided a fertile environment for our son to grow physically, emotionally and mentally in a nurturing environment, and we are given plenty of one-on-one balanced feedback on a day to day basis on all aspects of his development.
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities and also weigh in on how activities are planned.
Children are taught to communicate effectively, for example, to express anger or anxiety in appropriate ways. Teachers work with parents when issues arise, to coordinate how things are handled at home as well as at the center. We appreciate these efforts to create create consistency in teaching children at this critical age.
As we prepare for kindergarten, we hope that our continuing school experiences are as positive as our time with Whizz Kids.
Worse Child Care Experience Ever....
I had to pull my son from this daycare due to a teacher verbally abusing my son, their lack of care, little to no supervision of children, no communication when VERY serious things happen, things that by law they are required to notify the parent of and the director miscalculating tuition trying to get more and more money out of the parents here. Due to all of these things there will be an investigation into this daycare and I have had to get an attorney for this matter. Definately would look for ANYWHERE else. I would never recommend a childcare facility that endangers children.
Update: I notified them that my sons last day would be the 23rd because I could not find other care until then. I also informed them that I would be reporting all of the complaints to the city and Whizz Kids then emailed me that " it is my decision that effective immediately, you are no longer clients of Northgate Whizz Kids Academy, Ltd." Also when I told the owner that I would be getting an attorney and would be writing reviews of our experience she wrote me that "I feel your energy would be better spent finding your son a center that is equipped to deal with children who have special needs." My son is so far from special needs that her comment is laughable yet immature and insulting. My son was ahead of everyone in there school because they refuse to teach the children any valuable curriculum. But again shows that when you stand up to someone for their inability to provide care for children they attack you and insult your child. I have all of the emails that I would be happy to share if you would like to know more information. Just contact me on here.
Editorial Review. Full service preschool near Northgate accepts children from infant to pre-kindergarten with an emphasis on special attention.
Wonderful. My daughter loves going to "school" at Whizz Kids. The teaching are friendly, engaging and wonderful with her. There has been some turnover in her room but it seems that the person they found to replace the last wonderful teacher is just as great. They all seem really dedicated to making sure the kids are safe, happy and educated during their day.
