In regard to both Jim Owen and Faye Holtz. Prove it! I have been doing research on this company for some time now based on your claims and the only real problem I have run into is your stories. There are no complaints to the BBB from anyone about this company. There are pending or past legal actions against them. And especially for Faye, Why is there nothing from your ex-husbands widow Barbara? Yes I know who she is.
This is a good company that provides a great service. So once again, prove it or quit complaining.
Junk equipment and surly service. STAY AWAY! – I rented a pressure washer from Handy Andy's and burned myself very badly on a rusty and fully exposed box at about 18" height. When I returned the equipment, I was given a bad attitude about it by three members of their staff simultaneously, telling me that I should have known better, and I wouldn't touch a hot stove, would I? The equipment was EXTREMELY dangerous, and they not only did they not stand behind it, they tried to make me feel stupid for not knowing not to touch it. (No warning on the rusty box of course).
Walking into the place you can see how poorly maintained it is, it looks like a junk shop (which it sort of is), and don't make the mistake of thinking it's just a quaint mom & pop. These people should be SHUT DOWN.
By the way, the prices are exactly the same as Home Depot, 6 blocks north on Aurora, and Aurora Rentals, on 88th & Aurora. PLEASE go there instead!
Fire the mouthy son – Pops is a nice guy but the taller son what a mouthy punk. He is lucky i value my freedom. If dad has any common sense he will leave the business to the nicer son.
Unmaintained equipment & NO insurance coverage – In 09/2007 Handy Andy's rented an unmaintained Bobcat to my ex-husband. They were even so helpful as to deliver the equipment to his front door. This piece of equipment should never have been rented to the public since none of the safetly devices were working properly which resulted in his DEATH.
If that isn't bad enough, Handy Andy's claimed no responsiblity in the matter and stated they were self insured with little to no money. I guess you can't get blood out of a turnip. How is it that the state allows a company of this nature to run a business without a bond or proof of proper insurance coverage?!
Needless to say, they are still in business, renting equipment that is unmaintained no double, and I am quite sure they don't have the insurance to cover the loss of a life. I guess some companies just don't care.
If you value your life, I certainly would not be renting anything from this company...just ask our son.
I have been taking abuse from Handy Andy for years. Why you ask? Because they are you only place in North
Seattle that has U-haul concrete. They have yelled at me like i was a private in boot camp. Just because I didn't understand their demands. Their equipment is poorly maintained and unsafe. The last straw was when they shorted me on a load of concrete and then called me a liar when I complained. I'll never go back. I'll mix concrete by hand from now on.
