Very disappointing service here. I was trying to arrange a nice dinner for approximately 20 people to celebrate the retirement of a trustee on our board. Salty's at Redondo Beach looked like the perfect option. After playing phone tag for a couple rounds, the group dining coordinator never returned my call. I called & sent multiple emails to the restaurant trying to get ahold of someone-anyone- who would help me make a reservation and get all of the dinner details sorted and never recieved a response. If this is the level of customer service I can expect when dining at this location, I will not be stopping by or attempting to make arrangements here any longer.
We'll be back! – Great food, great service, great location. There is a boat ramp nearby so this location is perfect for a post boat ride beverage or two. Our first time there, we had just sat down out on the deck on a late summer day when a tray of Oyster Shooters was carried past us. Hmmm! That was it, we were hooked. Awesome coconut prawns, too btw. Go to Salty's at Redondo and you will be happy.
Over Priced/Over cooked – This was a mediocre meal served at a high price.
We had the family style dinner:
Coconut prawns, not bad, but slightly over cooked
Steak, Very good, done perfectly
Salmon, a bit dry...definitely should not have been cooked a second longer.
Asparagus...giant, but shaved the woody parts off. Was good, not over cooked.
Mango Salsa over sticky rice. OK, this was a huge disaster! Mango Salsa should be sweet, taste of mango, with a bit of heat.
The mango was to green and had NO FLAVOR....they made up for it with way to much jalapeno and cilantro. If it weren't for the orange color of mango, you would never have a clue there was mango in it!
Their signature cake was good.
We each had 1 drink (4 of us) and the bill came to $200. Seriously, for 1/2 that amount I could have gotten a good meal elsewhere. Or even a mediocre meal, like this one, for 1/2 that amount.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback regarding your dinner. I sincerely apologize for your experience, I have shared your feedback with the Executive Chef, with a sincere desire to improve on your feedback. Our goal at Salty's, is to always exceed our guests expectations, please give me a call at 253.945.8248, or email, I look forward to speaking with you and making your next dining experience spectacular.

Best Brunch Ever – Best brunch ever. Huge selection of food expertly prepared. Service is great.
Major disappointment – Our hotel recommended Saltys. We were looking for seafood and atmosphere. We ordered a bucket of schrimp and fish and chips.
The fish was not eatable. The halibut was thin and like card board. We are accustomed to fish frys that offer bear battered cod or halibut. I described the fish to the maitre d as "disgusting". There just was no any other word to describe it. We could not eat it.
The schrimp were tiny. At this type of restaurant, I was surprised they would serve such tiny schrimp.
As I described my experience to the maitre d, I felt that he was not being honest about the quality of the food he was serving. It was so bad, he had to know that is was bad. Point of fact, I have questions his integrity.
He said we may get 1 complaint a year. He should read his own reviews.
Hi, thank you so much for letting us know how we did on your visit to see us last week. I am so sorry to hear that your visit was so horrible. This is not what you should expect coming to Salty's. When you say maitre d were you talking about the manager at the restaurant? I am hoping that you did talk to the manager and got some assistance with your meal. Please let me know and I will definately forward this information on to our General Manager. I am so sorry for your experience here,

Less Than satisfied – I ordered the Garlic prawns and Jasmine ginger rice. The rice was extremely dry and obviously prepared in chicken stock which when paired with a seafood dish does not make a good combination, not to mention the presentation of the rice (looked as though it was plopped down upon the middle of the plate with an Ice cream scoop). The rice completely lacked any ginger flavor and was very dry and gummy for a jasmine rice. The garlic prawns were so overpoweringly seasoned with garlic and butter that the natural flavor of the prawns could not be tasted at all. This meal was prepared with out any care for the final product. I would expect something of this low quality when dining at a restraunt like applebee's but I would also expect to pay $9.99 instead of the 24.99 that the meal was quoted at. Upon receiving this meal I sampled the rice and the prawns than boxed the meal up to see whether or not my dog or cat would find the meal more edible than I.
Next was the herb crusted chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes and asparaus. The chicken was slimy and as for being herb crusted I was unaware that simply dry rubbing some herbs de provence on the outside of a chicken breast passed for being herb crusted. The chicken also had a rubbery texture and was overcooked. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted as though they were made from instant potato buds, the texture was like a mush I would have liked to see fresh garlic cloves even small peices in the mashed potatoes but that was also non-existant. The only bright spot of this entire meal came from the service which was prompt and very courteous needless to say I am going to give Salty's another chance only because I recieved a free sunday brunch coupon otherwise I would never set foot in Salty's again.
Great Food + Great Service = Salty's at Redondo – Salty's at Redondo is always our destination place for a special night out! The food is always wonderful and the service is above average. The chef's fresh market sheet is always a tasty choice but, I have a hard time not ordering the "Crab Mac and Cheese". The bar also has great daily specials (prime rib on friday's for under $20, YUMMY).
I am not sure if the people writing the previous reviews usually eat super-sized Claim Jumper portions but, the portions are more than adequate. I would always rather have quality over quantity. If you are in the area, I highly recommend giving Salty's a try!
Thanks you so much for letting us know how we are doing, we appreciate your taking the time! I have the same problem with the Mac and Cheese, too hard not to order, definately one of my favorites!
We look forward to your return visit, Have a great Day!

Dont ever ever eat here – I dont know what it is about Salty's at Redondo. When you walk in its a nice resturaunt but then you see these signs you can put your face in and balloons everywhere it reminded me of Red Robin. Then you sit down and get to looking at the menu. To be honest the menu doesn't sound intriguing at all its like every dish only comes with mash or rice WOW thats a good choice...then when you order your salad it looks like it was just thrown on there. The dishes are sloppy. I wonder what the chef is thinking when he sees this go on. Then its just way to expencive to eat there and not get proper portions. I have so many bad things to say about this resturaunt it boggles my mind. Well pretty much do not eat there its not worth it
Picturesque – Our first visit was to our liking. We had a party of 18 people and they had set up the tables in a platformed area of the restaurant, so we felt we had our own little room, in a sense. The waiter, Noel, was very very accommodating, entertaining, and polite. The food was fresh (most of us ordered halibut), and the prices competitive. The restaurant sits right on the Puget Sound with the beach that adds to the whole experience. The restaurant definitely gave us that sea worthy feeling. Loved it!
