Yummy! – The best mexican restraunt around! I have been to several, and I am always comparing to Tampico! I would say that the hotel next door is not too inviting, but once you get inside or park at the pizza place next door...you are home free for deliciousness beyond belief!
Tampico Mexican Restaruant – Favorite place to eat the food is awesome can't get enough and never have had any problems. Packed before Silvertips games and usally on the weekends.
Great food, but... – Our friends highly recommended Tampicos and after a very difficult month, we thought that this was a perfect way to get away from it all. The food was absolutely wonderful. Staff all seemed so friendly. Imagine my shock when my bank posted a $236.00 debit charge to RAL Audio Services. The one and only time I used my debit card that day was at Tampicos. I guess that answers why it took so long to process our debit card and bring it back to us. I did attempt to call the Tampico managers and even left a message asking them to call me. The silence is deafening. My bank is sending me the papers to sign to pursue a fraud investigation and I intend to sign and fax the authorization immediately.
No matter how great the food is, I just won't ever go back. If you go, enjoy the food, but pay with cash.
Best mexican food around – I'll start by saying the hotel next door is not inviting and parking is fine, across the street. other then that the food is great. Service has been great everytime exept for one time, one waiter was bad, (may have been having a tuff day). you will never have an empty water glass, or chip bowl. 2 salsas are great, and the food?, the food is the best around and we have been around. lets not forget the kids cups and they are always accomidating for the little ones. Have a large group... we did once and they fit our party of 13 no prob on a friday night. I did call ahead 5 min and we sat down right away. dont forget those margaritas, they are buzzingly great.
Tampico is tasty... I think it is their wonderful cheese blend! – We went to Tampico for the first time for lunch the other day, and while looking at the menu we were thinking that it is a bit on the pricey side... not super expensive, but a bit more than the usual mediocre Mexican restaurant for certain meails. We got items that were on the cheaper side, and the kids got a quesadilla and a grilled cheese sandwich, and everything we got was so tasty! I really believe it is due to both their cheese blend (which seems super fresh) and their very good sauces. They give you two salsas with the chips at the beginning, and I especially liked the red salsa, which was spicier than the usual restaurant salsa. Overall we really enjoyed our meals, well worth the money... I would rather pay a buck or two (or three) more for an excellent meal than bother with a mediocre one.
This is my favorate mexican restaurant to date. – I've been going to this restaurant since I was in diapers and I just keep coming back. The service can vary from below average to great, but is normally above average. The bottom line for me is they have great food, with great portions at average prices! I've gone other places spent another 3 or 4 dollars, got less food, and it didn't even taste as good. The only draw backs I see are the parking and the bad area.
Great food & service, you won't be disappointed! – I visited Tampico for lunch for the first time on 4/1/08 with a friend of mine to enjoy a good lunch, and boy did we ever enjoy our meals! I personally had the Tampico Special which was a sliced steak, rice, beans with cheese, and some nicely spiced shrimp and it was fantastic. I have to admit that I know the owners as real estate clients of mine so even though my friend and I arrived during the lunch hour the owner handed us the much larger dinner menu to pick from. Perhaps a little extra special treatment was offered in terms of menu choice for that time of day, but I think that just goes to show the generosity of the folks who run and own this place along with the obvious high quality of the food. Another note is that the restaurant looks very small from the street, but the building is very deep with several rooms to the back and even an open fireplace. I highly recommend Tampico?s for their food and their excellent service!
Margarita's and good food. I am impressed. – I love this place. The Margarita's are something to write home about. A bit over priced but so yummy they are worth it. I had the Tampico Burrito with Carne Asada. It was by far the best burrito I have EVER HAD. The guacamole was also the best I have ever had.
Service was good. The place was packed. I'll have to get there earlier next time.
This place is my new favorite. I couldn't ask for much more.
First and last visit, cramping, fever, uncontrollable bathroom visits! – The service was ok. I had plenty of food and water. I paid over 8 dollars for 2 tacos(no bigger than any known crappy food chain) and the usual baby food consistency of beans and rice. Bland food, as I had to add salt and pepper to the chips, beans and rice. But this is not why I rated this restaurant so low. No, it was the near death experience my wife and I suffered later that night. As the bad food (and we all know what thats called) set in our bodies. I believe it could have been Campylobacter, which is the most common type of "bad food" in dinners that cross contaminate drippings from raw meet. Or maybe bad hand washing techniques. Either way, We both experienced very painful cramping, extreme explosive bathroom visits, fever, sweating, and my skin felt waxy. Honestly, I wanted to curl up in a ball and Die! The next day was a holiday and we both spent it on the couch moaning, dehydrated and waiting for the "bad food" to pass through our system.
We had no breakfast, went to this restaurant for a late lunch and came home eating nothing else. This is how I know we received contaminated food here. I would be willing to bet other patrons experienced the same symptoms as we did and if any are reading this AND ate there Feb 17 (day before Presidents day) I would encourage you to speak up! I contacted the restaurant today but was unable to speak with a manager as one wont be there till 9:30 or 10pm. hmmmmmmmmm. I will try again tomorrow and hopefully the manager will see this as an awareness issue and not a purposefully malicious review. I do not feel any one should have to go through what we did last night and at the very least will seek an apology. I will not go back to this restaurant as the mere thought of it causes my intestines to grumble and my skin to become waxy.
Best Mexican food in town – There is something to be said about guacamole and cheese can make anything taste good but at Tampico you won't need it. Simply put, these guys are professionals. They don't just serve some gimmicky mexican food. These guys can flat out cook. They start you off with fresh salsa and chips and you always have water. The service is always accurate and efficent. I've eaten at Tampicos many many times. Before you even open the menu a cadillac margarita (on the rocks) is a must. When you do open the menu and you find you cannot make a choice, try the tacos de pollo azado and you won't be disappointed. Vegitarians shouldn't shy away they have a more than adequate vegitarian menu. I even eat the veggie fajitas and I'm not even a vegitarian. Eat the fajitas with corn tortillas and share them with a friend because there is more than you can eat.
