Response to Aspeakk's complaint about Automotive Diagnostic – Customer brought vehicle into our shop with a bad motor, service writer gave customer estimate and client took over a month to make a decision weather to repair vehicle or not. Meanwhile used motor got sold to someone else. Client called to authorize repairs and we finally found another used motor that is very rare (2.2 inline 4) , installed and completed customer picked up. Used motor lasted 3 months and then car got towed back in to our shop overheated severelly, no coolant in system. We called the company that supplied us the motor and they could not find another motor, they are currently refunding customer's money and we are currently waiting for another used motor from a different company. Our company does not warranty labor on used parts which client was fully aware of it and it is documented on the bottom of all invoices. Client was very rude and disrespectful over the phone regarding the situation. Shop has spoke with client's father and he understands the situation.
Absolute thieves – Do not go here at all costs. I took my car into this shop and told them i needed a new engine within 4 weeks and they said it would be absolutely no problem (i have a fairly common car). I call 2 weeks later to check in because they failed to check in with me as they said, and they said that they hadn't even begun working on my car and have yet to start searching for an engine.
I got irate with them and told them to fix my car ASAP or there would be consequences. Somehow someway they got an engine the day after my angry phone call. Interesting. They ended up "fixing" my car on the last possible day at the last possible hour of my deadline i gave them.
Fast forward 3 months later, and my car suddenly broke down. It turns out it was the engine, it had no compression, overheated and died. This is obviously completely their fault as the engine was the part having the problems and it was installed just 3 months earlier. Now they are trying to claim that the warranty only "partially covers" my engine and continue to fail to call and update me as they said they would.
An absolute scam of a shop. Paid 3500 dollars for a nonworking car and forced me into a situation where i might have to just jump ship with them up 3500 dollars and me out of a car.
Did not take advantage! – I got into some car/trailer trouble coming back from Anacortes. The trailer wheel fell off driving down the freeway near Tulalip. Fortunately, nobody was hurt and I was able drive to the left shoulder. Cars passing me at 70 mph was not a place I wanted to be, so I disconnected the trailer and went for help. Within a few minutes, a state trooper was behind the abandoned trailer and I wa trying to get his attention from the side road. I was unsuccessful and it was towed to an impound lot next to Automotive Diagnostic Center. I figured I was hosed. I had few options and was at their mercy
I was not. They helped me right away and were fair to me. They earned the money and I was almost happy to pay the bill. He knew I was not going to be a regular customer and he still treated me as one. I was vulnerable and he did not take advantage. I envy the regular customers.
Love Them!! – I have been a customer of Automotive Diagnostic Center for several years. I have ALWAYS been treated fairly. He has NEVER talked down to me because I am a woman. I have never been ripped off by John or his crew. He always stands behind his work. He has never gone over his estimate without calling me first. He has never recommended work or done work that wasn't needed. He has always taken the time to explain everything to me over and over as needed until I understand.
John Wilbur is an honest mechanic and a good business man. He truly cares about his customers and it shows in how he treats people.
good experience – I've taken several cars to Automotive Diagnostic center for the last several years and never and i repeat never had a problem! Sure i've spent more than i wanted on a couple of occasions but have always been satisfied. One time i took my daughters car to Les Shwab 3 times to figure out a problem which they couldn't diagnose and they charged me every time, I gave up on Shawb took the car to their Marysville location and they not only quickly fixed the problem but DIDN'T charge me a dime. I've also brought cars in had them diagnose a problem and decided against spending the money and they told me no problem come back when your ready! No Pressure. Everybody's experiences are different but mine have been great!
Honest and Trustworthy repair facility – It is really great having found Automotive Diagnostic Center after moving here. It is a relief knowing that I have a reliable, trustworthy, hard working and honest mechanics. I am grateful for the kind, friendly and wonderful service.
Can't fix anything- Just takes your money – My self, friends, and family members have been taken advantage of by John Wilbur and his band of pirates. Every visit we had to deal with repair charges exceeding two times the verbal estimate, and John not releasing the car untill paid in full because we couldn't prove it. Offering a check was declined,just cash only! If he dosen't trust us, why the heck should we trust them? He went as far as moving my car from Marysville to Mount Vernon so I couldn't find my car untill I paid the bill in full with cash only. What a Ahole, this is after dealing with him several times. When I finally got the car back from him it ran worst then when I brought it to him, I called him and he just laughed! So I took it to the dealer and after diagnosing the problem they said it would cost $75.00 to fix the original problem and $600.00 to correct what they did wrong to it. This is after spending $3.500.00 at John's Marysville store to fix a stupid engine miss. Beware of them, I am telling everyone not to go to automotive diagnostic centers in Marysville,Monroe,Mt.Vernon. I wish I never heard of them.
rip off repair shop – I took my car to automotive diagnostics center in smokey point and dropped it off on friday oct. 16th. worst mistake of my life. i had a check engine light i needed them to check and and paid for 2 hrs. at no time did they offer a written estimate. employee mark called me and told me what they found and what the solution was. i asked him over the phone what the cost of parts and labor.
the next day john wilbur called and said he had to add 20 percent to the cost of the machine shop charges and labor he gave me was 150.00 more than employee mark gave me. now i was getting really suspicious of john wilbur. so when i called i got him to quote a final price.
then he said that what they like to do is do a prognosis after the car was put together and see what caused the car to missfire and make the check engine light come on?? right then i knew i was screwed! i asked isn't that why you did the diagnosis when i first brought the car in? and then i asked are you expecting to find another problem after you put the car together again? he said yes. so when he found another problem he said it would take another 2 grand off the top of his head to fix the original problem.
so i told him no and put the car together and i'll pick it up.
so i ended up paying over 3,000 dollars and have the same problem. john wilbur and his garage are total rip offs. he told me he did his part.
he sure did another unsatisfied customer.
i took my car to a second shop and for 2 hrs diagnosis time and 160.00 dollars, he told me the bottom end of the motor needed major work. he also told me that he use's the same machine shop automotive diagnostics center use's and that the employee from the machine shop who worked on my heads told him that an employee from automotive dianostics center told him something got sucked through the motor? so automotive diagnostics center knew about the major problem and didn't tell me and charged me over 3,000 dollars for repairs that left the car in the same condition!
i filed a complain with the BBB.
