Dave's Computer is the best business in Santa Cruz – Dave's Computers is a Santa Cruz institution. It's the best Santa Cruz business I have used since i moved here 20 years ago. I believe much of this is due to Dave's -- the owner's -- philosophy. He is not in business just for the money. he wants to help people, to be a public service. Great philosophy which has served our town well.
The staff at Dave's Computers -- in particular Dave himself -- are highly skilled and professional. yet they are still friendly. I wish more Santa Cruz businesses were like them.
Whatever question, about hardware or software you have, Dave's Computer will answer it, or send you to someone else who can. They have answered most of my questions for free, as a favor to customers, sometimes spending a lot of time explaining their answers to me.
Their work is impeccable. Their business does much more than just repair computers, although they do a great job at that. They also service, maintain, sell and buy computers, peripherals, and software.
To me Dave's Computers embodies the best of the Santa Cruz ideal.
I am afraid to recommend them so highly because it might attract more out-of-town people to move to our small oasis between the sea and the trees.
Eh. Not so good – First of all Dave is rude and unpleasant. When I brought my computer in, they said they couldn't look at it for a week. That was fine, but then they didn't actually get to it for several days after they said they would. Nobody ever called me to tell me what was up. The repair took another week or so. All in all they had my computer about three weeks. I give them two stars because Dave took thirty dollars off of the backup fee because of the delay. But, they didn't really back up my stuff, just copied my photos, so I lost my documents and music.
Shoddy repair and poor treatment. – I recently had a problem with a port connection on my laptop - took it to Dave's for repair. After waiting 3 weeks, I paid him more than $100 and when I got home, I realized that the port was not really completely repaired - then I tried to connect to the internet and my wireless connection was not working. I called Dave and he said it could not have been anything that they did. So I called Joe at Santa Cruz Computers and he immediately came to my home to figure out what the problem was. It turned out that the Dave's tech had disconnected my wireless antenna and failed to reconnect it. So I paid Joe and then called Dave seeking reimbursement of the money I had paid to correct his error. He basically told me to pound sand - even though it was his mistake, he refused to pay me back any portion of the funds I expended to fix it.
I've taken my computers to Dave's for repairs for many years. NEVER AGAIN !
Actually we offered to fix this if she brought it back in, offered her a discount on a service callat a lower rate than she paid Joe and she declined our help. She chose to call another service provider, we would have helped her.
Also the repair in question was given a steep discount even though it had been over a year since the previous repair and the port had been abused.
Dont take things at face value, we are the only computer repair shop that has been in bussiness 20 years in santa cruz..
Reliable, fast, responsible – I've used Dave's for over fifteen years--his service is outstanding, fast and reliable. Everyone I've ever dealt with there is courteous and helpful. Highly recommended!
