Highly Recommended! – My husband and I first heard about User Friendly from a couple of our friends (one of whom has a local business) after we'd gotten to talking about how disappointed we'd been with our recent computer service experience with another company.
From day one, our experience with User Friendly was terrific. They showed up on time, set our new printer, and took care of some nagging issues that the previous company had repeatedly failed to address.
Since then, our family has had several computers, and each time we have had them come out or had done work at their store, we have been been very pleased. After our previous experiences with "computer people," it is a relief to find a local company that's courteous, reponsive, and reasonable.
One more note: My husband and I read a couple of the negative reviews posted here. I can't speak for those people, but that's DEFINITELY hasn't been our experience. We HIGHLY recommend User-Friendly to all of our friends.
Best Computer Repairs in Town! – I had my computer back to me the following day! I came in expected the worst, and they made me feel good about getting my computer taken care of.
The location was really convenient (they're a few blocks off the River Street exit, coming from Scotts Valley where I live).
The best part is, everyone was really nice. I was in panic mode when I went in, and left feeling really good after everything was repaired. Would definitely go back again. Also, Pam was really nice during the check in. She's so sweet!
Great service, reasonable prices – Was quoted a resonable price to have a pretty nasty virus removed. I was able to get my computer back the next day, and they charged for the time that they initially quoted. The staff was really nice, and they called twice to let me know how things were going. Very easy going experience.
Worst Customer Service Experience – This is a long story essentially spent a significant amount of money replacing a motherboard in a laptop - turn around time on that repair was ok ~ 18 days.
Did not have a chance to use the repaired machine for ~ 2 months - ran it for 3 hours and the motherboard burnt out again.
Returned it immediately - was told they would see what they could do but it was only warrantied for 30 days.
Waited 8 weeks - made multiple phone calls finally got a reply - they would do nothing. I asked what the initial burn in period for the repair had been - they did not know.
I even volunteered to pay for a new motherboard if they would cover the labor - that had to be escalated to the owner.
I will never do business with this vendor again and suggest caution and immediate verification of all work done by this shop.
My nephew does a better job – I think the title is self descriptive. They are overpriced and so completely technologically retarded that I cannot but amaze myself at their ratings. Of course seeing how little work they do in the shop it would not amaze me that they themselves wrote the reviews.
what a relief – I voted for User-Friendly computing in the "Best of Santa Cruz" issue of the city paper, and here's why: this is the only place that has fixed my computer right the first time-- and fast!
Since I work from home, I am absolutely reliant on my computer working right, or I don't make money that day.
The last time my computer had a spazz -- erasing all my bookmarks and suddenly uninstalling all of my programs -- I almost cried. That is, until I remembered that I know the best computer fixing people in the world!
I dropped it off at the shop one day and picked it up the next day, and somehow my computer was magically restored to its former self. Not only that, but it was working faster, too.
Of course, being the computer-illiterate person that I am, I still don't know what the problem was that fateful day of my computer melt-down, but I don't care. All I know and care about is that UF Computing got my computer back to perfect!
Another reason to love Santa Cruz! – Here's another reason why I love living Santa Cruz. I first discovered these guys when I moved to Santa Cruz 5 years ago. I called a bunch of different places (most of who didn't answer their phone). Not only did they pick up the phone (no voicemail), but it turned out they were the only ones in town who said they could fix the broken DC jack on my laptop instead of telling me that I needed to buy a new motherboard.
So let me tell you about these guys. I've been using them ever since I first moved here. This is a locally-run business, andthey has always gone the extra mile for me. I like that they're friendly, helpful, and they do little extras like cleaning up my computer and making sure everything is updated before I get it back. The owner (Peter?) is there a lot, and I think that makes a big difference.
Even though the shop is a little quirky, they have always done right by me, and the staff has is very courteous and attentive. Kudos to a local business that cares for their customers!
Excellent Customer Service! – We've been using User-Friendly Computing since we started our business started over 12 years ago. We owe the tremendous sucess that we enjoy today in large part to the consistently excellent customer service and high-level I.T. support that we've received from Peter and his staff trough the years. Bravo!
The best of Santa Cruz – I have lived in Santa Cruz all my life, and I cannot recall ever receiving such prompt, assured, professional and prompt business service.
Condescending, rude and worst of all, unethical. – Don't take your computer here for helpful, courteous, and honest help.
The office manager , Larry, in Santa Cruz will charge $100 for tasks like tasks like defragmenting, loading updates from MS, removing unwatned software, doing a scan for malware and viruses. Then tell you your computer is fine, when you actually brought it in for a memory upgrade.
When all was said and done, one week later, I was charged $95 for tasks I had already tried and was capable of doing myself.
Then I was treated with disdain when I confronted this "rip off".
Of course, I get home and the computer is exaclty the same, and I am $100 poorer.
