Not recommended – There is an abundance of thai restaurants in downtown vancouver, and this is my least favorite. I have had poor service and only mediocre food, especially when it's priced higher than surrounding areas. Too bad.
Good food, bad service – I have loved the food here for many years, it has always been my favorite Thai restaurant in town. But we've noticed lately that the service has really been going downhill. The last 3 times I've been there, we were seriously unable to get someone to go and take our order. We had to get up and go track someone down every time we wanted anything. And when they would go over finally, they wouldn't even apologize or anything, just stare blankly at us. So I haven't been to any of the other locations, and can't compare them, but I may just have to stop going to this one. The service is just horrible.
Editorial Review – Small Northwest chain serves Thai seafood, noodle, curry and stir-fried dishes, plus beer and wine.
The best Thai around... – I've lived in Portland, Seattle, and now in L.A., but Thai Orchid is literally the best Thai I've found, anywhere! The ambience is hip and the food is AMAZING (the Pad Thai is perfect- not too sweet, not bland at all). It's a little spendy for Thai, and in a random neighborhood in downtown Vancouver, but it is SO worth it! I've never had a dish there I didn't LOVE!
Disappointed – We went to the Thai orchid tonight, ordered what we normally have had a several other Thai restaurants around Portland/Vancouver, this Thai Orchid was the worst we have ever had. We ended up not eating much and one dish alone was over $17.00! We have never been to a Thai restaurant of such low quality. Their Gresham and Beaverton locations are good and we were shocked at the difference.
Vegetarians will do well here – I love their spring rolls (fried and unfried)(#1 & #2) and the sweet n sour with tofu (#40). It's nice that most everything can be made with tofu if you want it like that. I come here about 1 or 2 times a month!
not up to Thai Orchid standards – please don't judge the rest of the Thai Orchid resturants by this one!
i've been able to count on the consistantly perfectly done food and lively flavors that any Thai Orhid location offers -- but this was terrible! the service was awful (my fiance and i were there an hour and had to ask to be given water, and then ask again to have our empty water glasses refilled!!!!). the noodles overcooked and mushy and the soup was completely watered down -- almost flavorless!!! the worst Thai Orchid experience i've ever had!
