Ok but not Great – The food is honestly pretty good. The portions are a little small and they insist on steaming rather than stir frying the veggies in the vast majority of their dishes. This makes the veggies slightly less crisp and flavorful. The tea that they serve is that hot Thai tea crap which is really just green tea with food coloring. It would be nice if they had a nice Jasmine instead. I give them 3 stars because the service is good and the overall quality of the food is pretty good. In my opinion, its hard to find a true 4 or 5 star Thai place though.
Great Vancouver Thai – Great Thai food, affordable prices, friendly staff and excellent service! Not much more I want from a Thai restaurant. Plus for me, it's local and easy to get to.
This is not a place you have to dress up for; but a "must try". Great veggie fried rice and yummy curry. Menu is vegetarian friendly, take out is available, and it's open during dinner hours 7 days a week.
My favorite in vancouver – My favorite place for thai, better than any other. I have eaten their many times for takeout and have also ate there and their service is friendly.
Yummy Thai Food ever in Vancouver!!! – I am Thai food fan because I like spicy food. I think this is a great place to try Thai food. It is so authentic I ever had, because I have ever been to Thailand and stayed there for a while.
As I know they change the owner, so that's why the taste and service is much better now...Great food and service with reasonable price!!!
way better choices out there.. – It had been awhile since I'd been there (5 years?) but we tried it recently and were SO DISAPPOINTED. We are Thai food enthusiasts and will travel great distances for the good stuff. We went on a Saturday about 5pm - hoping to beat the rush. We stayed about an hour and never saw another patron. We thought the place seemd a little dirty inside, the food was just average, and the rice was horrible. We are certain that it was at least 1 day old. Yuck.
Authentic? I wouldn't know, but the sauces aren't from a jar and it's very good. – I've never been to Thailand, so I couldn't use the word authentic for any Thai restaurant no matter how good the food. I do know this. In comparison, this is one of the better Thai places I've been to in the Portland area. (With one exception: avoid the fish.) My fiance and I dine here all the time. They also do a reliable takeout. The Tom-Yum is very good along with a variety of hot & spicy curries to the flavorful (but not hot) veggie/meat/noodle dishes. The Pad Thai, always a marker of good vs. bad, is very good here. Sweet & Sour, if you're into that, is not from a jar, but homeade.
The service is what I've come to expect in small, family-owned Asian restaurants. It's always ahit or miss experience, even with the same servers. Water pitcher on the table, etc.
I am so sorry 2 – Perhaps Vancouver folks have never experienced the flavors and aromas of real Thai food. I don't know. If you are a Thai Food Fan, don't waste your time and money here.
I ordered the green curry for lunch. The meat was tough and dry, obviously overcooked, and vegetables were limited to canned bamboo shoots. And the curry itself was so flavorless and bland (not even enough salt!) that I didn't see the point in wasting the calories. Jasmine rice? That delectable aroma was absent as well.
Unlike the previous reviewer, the staff was neither sweet nor friendly. Our waitress saw we weren't eating our food, but asked if we wanted a box. So we left hungry, paid full price, and decided to let as many Thai Food Afficionados know how poor Thai Little Home is.
I am so sorry – The folks at Thai Little Home are sweet; it's a family owned establishment and the whole family works there. Authentic Thais, my mother and I talk with the owners from time to time, brush up on our Thai. But the food is less than authentic. It is following Thai ingredients, but they seem to have put them in at the wrong time, or too much... something. This is not like the food we have in Thailand. My mother, a Thai native, and I were disapointed with the Rad nah, pad kee mao, and satay. We've been there by ourselves and for a party and both times were dissapointed with the food but enthralled with the people. If you're looking for fresh, although not authenticly cooked, Thai food. Here's your place. Thai's will recognize the food tastes... just off somehow. To all others, at least the service is worth a checkout.
I drive from Portland for this. – This place is the stick by wich I measure all the Thai places I have tried. The flavors are the same or better than Typhoon!, and at a fraction of the price.
Eat At Thai Little Home! – Best Thai Cuisine I've had in the Vancouver, portland area. Service and the people are great, good size portions of food. I've even seen the Vancouver P.D. eat here as well, so thats gotta mean something, lol.
