Luxurious shopping experience – Yesterday I visited the Valentino Boutique on Rodeo Dr. for the first time. I frequently shop at other stores on the street but was always reluctant to go into Valentino because I thought they only had evening gowns. Recently I've been seeing a lot of Valentino handbags being worn by celebrities and I fell in love with the Histoire (Angelina Jolie is always wearing it!) so I went in to treat myself.
I ended up having one of the best shopping experiences I've ever had with some of the nicest boutique staff I've ever met. The funny thing is that the main associate who was assisting me was Janet Kim, the woman mentioned in the previous review. She went out of her way to order the bag in the color I wanted from the Las Vegas store and made sure that it was delivered to the Beverly Hills boutique for me to pick up this morning. She even called me right when her store opened to let me know that my bag had arrived.
All of the other people there were really friendly also - they all gave me their opinions about a few different bags that I was choosing from and helped me make the right decision. Unlike some other stores on Rodeo, no one made me feel uncomfortable and no one looked down on me for just coming in dressed casually.
I will definitely return to this store in the future because I fell in love with a few of their shoes and a beautiful black jacket.
Horrible customer service... – My husband was nice enough to surprise me with a Histoire Bag for my birthday. He purchased it with cash a month ago as he didn't want me to see the charge on our credit card bill and ruin the surprise. Truthfully, as much as I loved the bag, I have one very similar (Prada) and so I wanted to exchange it. After going into the store twice, I really did not find a bag that did if for me in a big way and so I decided to have them special order a bag that, if the color worked, would have been a great choice for me. The salesgirl, Janet, from day one was totally aloof and was obviously not thrilled to have to go out of her way to place a special order. However, she did and she promised the bag would be on the Monday of the following week. When I did not receive a call from her on Tuesday, my husband and I went to the store (it was pouring rain, but I figured picking up my bag would be worth it). Not only was it not in the store, it wasn't due until "possible the next week". I asked that they keep in touch with me, but after two weeks of not hearing from anyone one way or another, I started calling and complaining. I finally had them credit my charge as I refused to do business with them any longer. I buy many of my bags at Neiman Marcus, who bends over backwards to give excellent customer service. I can buy a Valentino bag there without a problem and if I take it home and decide against it, can bring it back (before wearing it of course) and they will gladly exchange it or credit it back to your American Express card with a smile of their face.
This will be the last purchase that I will make at Valentino, which is too bad because they have lovely items and their store appears to be hurting. I would hate to lose them on our beautiful Rodeo Drive, but if they continue servicing their customers the way they do, I won't be surprised...
GOOD Experience – Thankfully my experience was really good. I didnt spend a lot money and I got really good customer service by all the sales associates working there. I wasnt all dress up. I was dressed in a tee, sneakers, & jeans, and they still treated well. Were not snobby at all. Bought a nice pair of jeans. Out of all the stores down rodeo dr. that I visted that day Valentino was the best. I was very happy when I didnt get any looks because I'm young and hispanic.
Horrible Service – Out of all the Rodeo Dr. boutiques this one has the snottiest, rudest people working there. You can be a millionaire and they will treat you like crap. After spending tens of thousands of dollars at this store, I came to see what they could do for a poor quality bag they sold me which looked terrible after only being worn once. Not only would they not offer to clean/fix or exchange it, they actually had the gall to yell at me for even complaining and bringing it in. When you spend $1400 on a bag you expect better treatment than that. If you want to spend big bucks head on over to any other rodeo drive store or if you must visit Valentino do it in europe where they are actually nice and helpful! This store gives beverly hills a bad name.
