Pretty iconic restaurant in Los Angeles. I recommend the turkey sandwich on rye. Pretty tasty!

A Beverly Hills staple! Lunch is best when you want a deli sandwich and that feeling of stepping back in time to a traditional deli. Try: Turkey on rye.

Great deli in the heart of Beverly Hills. Very popular with celebs. I highly recommend the sturgeon. Friendly waitstaff and reasonably priced for the neighborhood.

I love Nate 'N' Al's. It's one of my favorite places to eat in Beverly Hills. Great food, good portions, good service, reasonably priced by Beverly Hills standards. Good sandwiches, salads and soups - and breakfast is really good, too.

It's very busy at lunchtime so go early.

best deli in L.A. Chances are there will be a wait but the food is fantastic and the service is super friendly.

Their stuffed cabbage is a must! – Nate and Als is a traditional deli where you can get a variety of dishes and deli meats/sandwiches at the restaurant or to go.

If you eat at the restaurant, expect a simple family place. You can have a plate of pickels while you decide what you are going to eat. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For breakfast, their French toast is great but my all time favorite dish here is by far the stuffed cabbage. I also love a nice turkey or roast beef sandwich from time to time (and they are generous with the meat).

You can come in for a quick bite. Service is prompt assuming there is not a wait for a table.

Very good but not great – This is a middle-rank deli. At the bottom (judging only food) are Canter's, Jerry's (though the bakery at Canter's is quite good).

Great Delis are Langer's, Brent's (in the Valley), and Pico Kosher Deli (the latter, being Kosher, closes early Fridays and is closed on Saturday and Jewish Holy Days.)

Other middle rank delis are Art's and Junior's, Label's Table, and possibly Factor's.

One test of a great deli is special Pastrami ovens controlling not only temperature but also humidity. Another is that the chopped liver is chicken liver, not beef. A third is double-baked rye bread. And for the non-Kosher crowd, if you drop the cheesecake on your foot you should be able to break a toe. No fluffy, foamy, 'light' cheesecakes need apply, and "bsker's cheese" is an abomination.

Iconic neighborhood, iconic eatery, big disappointment – My friend and I were in pursuit of New York deli style food. We were told that Nate 'N' Al was the place to go in LA. We checked into our hotel and headed to Beverly Hills. There was a half hour wait. That gave me time to peruse the menu. There were lots of tempting choices. We both decided on ruebens, my friend's was the classic, mine made with turkey. It came with a side of cole slaw.

The food was edible, but that's it. It bordered on tasteless and bland. The cole slaw was dry. Big money, small flavor. No desire to go back.

Old-fashioned REAL Deli – If you are looking for real NY-style deli food, you need to visit Nate 'N' Als. It doesn't matter what you order you get the best any deli has to offer. LOVE this PLACE!!

I Love This Place – In a city that is all about the new, this place’s greatest charm is its old age. I would bet it looks virtually identical to what it looked like in the 40’s. The foods great, the waitresses can be tough and you may sit next to somebody famous. It’s a wonderful experience. The egg dishes, notably the lox benedict is fabulous. Great soups and big sandwiches. Best deli in LA!

Best Deli in BH – Family run old school deli with great food and great servers with lots of personality. This place is a throwback to another time. It never disappoints.
