my response to the response – as for knowing the facts, you are in no place to challenge my expertise about the inner workings and lack of employee moral throughout the establishment. you just eat your free quesadilla and save your obvious bias for something you have a clue about. which from your typing skills and lack of grammar, i can see its not much. when family members refer to it as "hell on earth" upon walking in the door, that says volumes more than that crossword puzzle you call a review.
and yes, im sure hitler was also a great guy to be around when with his friends and family. ive worked in quite a few restaurants as a cook and i live with someone just as known and admired in the milwaukee community, if not more. no one in this household nor anyone ive spoken to said its uncommon to rule with an iron clasp, but you dont need a business degree to see through this lack of reasoning, class and tact. hes not in the business of saving lives or protecting freedom, he serves bad mexican food. there is no excuse for that behavior. i never had a problem with being reprimanded, i never had a problem taking responsibilites where i was wrong, as my review clearly attests, but only a five year old acts impulsively without facts nor information. it is the grown up who tolerates ignorance and finishes his day without diluting his own comittment to the job he foolishly applied for.
i will quote his employee handbook: "we believe that a commitment to uncompromising values and integrity should always guide our decisions and actions as we pursue our goals". nowhere in the definition of integrity do i see berating, ignorance or losing composure under pressure.
also, as for the success you speak of concerning his opening day, his employees had an intricate role in that happening. and for your concern of his reputation, mine was not accorded the same recognition in front of his own customers who even scoffed at his behavior.
Respond to the respond – okay so we dont lalk on this email me crush53208@yahoo and we can talk on here so we dont argue on this thing hahah
better off at taco bell... part 1 – honestly, i never ate at gus' except the franklins' opening employee dinner, but i did just quit there. for nine days, i gave 100% to that restaurant. i never signed up for 6 days a week, nor did i expect the chaos that would ensue upon applying. although i shouldve known the first friday when a waitress walked out leaving us short staffed that evening. our waiting staff stuck together and made the best of it, giving gus an appropriate showing. not that it was expected, but when youre short staffed and your employees make you look good under such circumstances.... where which you have to turn customers away due to because you cant fit anymore people, youd at least applaud the effort, some sort of appreciation. not this guy. fast forward to the following friday. i was doing very well thusfar. my only complaints the week prior were one table walking out that friday due to lack of service. the other was a misunderstanding about a margarita cost and a lack of training on pricing which i remedied out of my own pocket. not too bad for someone with no experience. anyways, friday comes and one of the servers called in sick, leaving me and gus' son to pick up the extra tables. my section on friday went from 7 tables to 11 and, if youre familiar with gus' on a friday night and waiting on a friday in general, 7 tables is not an easy task, let alone 11. we both did poorly, we both were lost messing up orders, constantly looking at each other with confusion and fatigue. unfortunately though, i was the only one subjected to gus' berating. my poor performance was not out of a lack of effort, i was simply given too much to do. instead of seeing im overwhelmed and assisting or even being mildly satisifed by the effort, i was an idiot, incompetent and reprimanded in public for not telling the host i couldnt take anymore tables when after going in back to get sodas, i had 4 more tables filled. where was my chance to see im overwhelmed, not to mention the host foresight to see i was?
go to taco bell... part 2 – saturday, i was given five tables on a busy evening and did flawless. im congratulated, as if his reasoning cannot see the difference was workload, not effort. figuring they had a solution on sunday, i came in to see that i was one of 3 waiters and expected to on take 14 tables. a 9 top, an 8, two 5's, one 4 and a handful of 2's, i was once again obviously overwhelmed. yet again, i was berated because my pager didnt work, because a customer asked for their taco to be microwaved and because when you order a side of rice and beans, they come on seperate plates! now its my fault the way he tailored his menu? after his public lashing, i go to a large table to see if theyre satisfied and if i could do anything for them. i was greatly pleased to hear from his own customers that i was going a great job, the best i could and f--- him. it was at that point that i decided i wouldnt be back there, to work or even eat. i must admit though, we had a employee dinner the night before the grand opening. after a bland taco and one dip of the salsa, i wouldnt have aten the food if he paid me. i would suggest the same to anyone who inquired about the food, before and after the discrepancies posted prior. as for the other poor reviews, they speak for themselves. he yells at customers (if theyre displeased with his family members in particular), he disrespects his employees and the food is substandard at best. i was there when gus called the previous reviewer cheap and i was the employee who he was yelling at in the other poor review. as for the good reviews, im positive theyre one of his many friends in which youre told by gus himself to cater to more than other customers.
honestly, youre better off at the taco bell on hwy. 100 and grange.
Wonderful – Gus' in Franklin is a welcome addition to the area.
I have been to the other Mexican restaurants in town and I feel Gus' is the best one around Friendly service and great food
Thank you Gus for bringing a GREAT place to Franklin
mexican – What a zoo!
They guy who claimed he was the owner was literally yelling at his employee's in front of customer's as well as a customer who dared to complain... all in a 1 hour stay!
It was so uncomfortable!!!!
Apparently it would be difficult to maintain employee's under such conditions.
As they were short staffed.
While we were there 1 quit & walked out!
The food was nothing to brag about, lots of cheeses & sauce to cover up what lies underneath.
Salsa anything but fresh & tasty!
Drinks were chuck full of ice & little flavor.
The menu is inexpensive because the ingredients are, with few choices.
Not even close to authentic Mexican cuisine.
By far the worst dining experience thus far,
a lot we dine out a lot.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! – I usually dont do this but after reading the previous review I am compelled to do so. I, unlike the previous cusotmer, had a tremendous time at Gus'. My family and I live in Muskego, and stopped to eat this past week and we had a tremendous time. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious, the food was excellent and the service was extremely pleasant. In fact Gus himself was walking around greeting all of the tables and when he stopped by ours he took the time to play and joke with my 6 year old son. He even thanked us very coming in and offered to buy us some Quesadila which he did not have to do. As far as I am concerneced, my family and I will be back to visit Gus in Franklin as much as we can. We truly feel this is a great family place!!
Avoid the Franklin Location AT ALL COSTS! – This place has got to be the worst place that we have ever been to.
Not only was the service slow, the waitress overcharged us and forgot what we asked for, but when we were not happy with the fact that the blended margarita had huge chunks of ice and we were barely even able to get a sip, we complained to the OWNER, Gus himself, and he literally yelled at us and called us cheap.
He told us that its his blenders fault and he couldnt do anything about it.
We had already sucked out whatever we could get out of it, and offered to pay half of it, but he refused, calling US cheap when he was so unwilling, being the owner, to take off 3 dollars.
It was completely ridiculous and we will NEVER go back to that place again.
And no one else should go there either. Having been open for barely a week and treating customers this way is absolutely no way to run a business.
I cannot believe that was the owner.
DO NOT GO HERE, THE OWNER WILL YELL AT YOU IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY WITH YOUR SERVICE.
