The hotel has saved all of the historical look and feel of the original art deco Ambassador but mad current restorations and improvements. The elevators are fun to just open and shut. The clerk that checked us in was super friendly and offered many suggestions of ways to enjoy our time in Milwaukee. We had no problem arranging the shuttle to downtown and he was easily contacted for a return pick up just before midnight. There was some street noise, understandable for the location. We enjoyed the Starbucks on site and had a comfortable sleep.
My experience was great. We loved the decor It brings you back in time very nostalgic and a very friendly professional staff will have me coming back again!! The free shuttle service to anywhere in the city with only 1/2 hour advance notice was great We were celebrating a birthday so we left the driving to the professionals! anywhere you wanted to go amazing!
We were in town for the weekend leading up to the Paul McCartney concert at Miller Park. This hotel was a great find. The restorations are magnificent. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed and pillows comfortable. The final clincher for us staying, however, was the complimentary shuttle service. It allowed us to travel by train and not worry about driving and parking. They took us everywhere in the downtown area we wanted to go as well as to the stadium for the concert. All for a comparable price or less than a chain hotel in downtown would have been. Can't beat that.
we stayed here for 2 nights while attending a BREWER game.the hotel is considered in the downtown area but it really is not. it is on the very outskirts of downtown.our room with 2 queens was excellent.immaculately clean with all the conveniences. the hotel has coffee shop, full bar and restaurant. the hotel shuttle FOR US was excellent. it took us to the ball game in 5 minutes. it took us to the river walk and to the lake front. we had absolutely no problems with the shuttle.
We stayed at the Ambassador last fall and it was everything and more than what we expected. The architecture is beautiful. The location is perfect and not far from many different attractions. Yes if you go 2 blocks in the wrong direction it gets pretty bad. Don't go there. The staff friendliness especially the bar and the shuttle were some of the highlights of our stay. We brought kayaks and bikes and the bike trails were very accessible and extensive in that area. The bell man even let us lock up our bikes in a downstairs office so we did not have to take them up to our room. Gonna plan another trip this August. Oh and food was awesome...
I have stayed at the Ambassador every July for the past several years. I love the art deco interior and historic feel. The public areas are really cool and always well kept. I have enjoyed sitting outside sharing a drink with friends as well as outside dining. The rooms are huge and have all the modern conveniences but maintain that historic feel. I never hear a sound from outside or other rooms.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was helpful and polite. The room was large and comfortable. The elevators were fun. The shower was great! Everything was very clean. People mention that its not in a great area, but its not a bad area either. Its right by Marquette University. There is a parking garage and a shuttle to key places. We were very pleased.
It's on the west side of the interstate that divides Milwaukee. Very short $10 cab ride to the center of downtown and all the action. The room was great and the staff very helpful. Great bar and restaurant, also a Starbucks in the front of the lobby. The elevators are very unique and it's like stepping back in time...the 20's.
One of the Best - Cozy, Warm, Friendly - European Style – We have been staying here since 2006 and must total at least 15 plus different stays. The rooms are lovely, warm, and bed is sumptuous. It is small, friendly, quite with the European small hotel feel. The cafe with wi-fi is a great place to hang out. And their free shuttle service is a must for Summer Fest!
We have never had a bad experience, and while there are other nice hotels exactly downtown, at 5 minutes away, it has become our home away from home.
What a travesty! Terrible service ruins a potentially beautiful hotel! – We stayed at the Ambassador for two nights during our travels from Chicago to Oshkosh for Airventure. The rooms are large and nicely appointed although the carpet in the room and in the lobby was noticeably dirty and stained. This would have been a really nice place to stay had the staff not been so incredibly unprofessional. The elevators are quaint, but you have to fight the maids to get one to your room. When you get an elevator, you have to listen to the maids complaining bitterly about the management and their working conditions, but based on what I saw of the management, I'm afraid I'm on the side of the maids! This is a beautiful hotel that is being brought down by the failures of its staff. Until there is new management, I would have to advise you to stay elsewhere.
