Clean, good service and very good food – After reading the previous Review I was hesitant to try this place. But I am glad we did . We ate an early dinner around 4:30 Saturday March 24th 2007. Ordered an appetizer plate which was very fresh and could of been a meal. 4 really thick slices of Feta and plenty of cucumbers nice, ripe tomatoes and Greek olives with a nice dressing.,. Also hot bread.. Needless to say we should of stopped there. I ordered the Greek chicken which was really moist and flavorful.. My husband had the Calamari Picata which was outstanding. .. Service was excellant. And believe me I am a pretty picky person..In addition we ordered rice pudding and bread pudding and that was also very good...Then we walked for like 2 hours to try and burn it of... Went home and walked the dog.... So try this place and you decide for yourself like I did.... PCS

Vile food, indifferent service – My wife, my mother and I ate at this restaurant on 11/25, at 2:30 PM. Although we were seated quickly, it took 10 minutes to get our menus, even though there were six or so parties in the place and the wait staff wasn't busy. Our orders were as follows:

Me: A Reuben and cup of soup

Wife: Pasta shells w/ sausage & mushrooms

Mom: BBQ Ribs

My Reuben was flavorless and grilled in grease that tasted old and gross. The corned beef was dry, the sauerkraut flat. The soup clearly came from a #10 can, with some macaroni and vegetables thrown in, and served barely warm. Two tastes of the soup was too much, and I couldn't eat more than half of the sandwich.

My Wife's pasta dish was extrordinarily greasy, without much flavor besides that. She said she was reminded of the incident where she'd switched brands of food on her cat, who turned tail on it and kicked at it. She ate half of her order.

Mom's rib meat were adequate, but the sauce was simply poured over the top after cooking, not grilled/baked in. Her vegetable combination was poorly thought out, combining quick-cooking zucchini and slow-cooking carrots, resulting in mushy squash and nearly raw carrots. Again, she ate just half her meal.

During the meal, no wait staff checked with us to see how if we were enjoying our meal, although they were quick to clear plates when we indicated we wanted to leave. We did not take home leftovers.

Needless to say, this Willow Glen establishment will not be on our list of favorites when we move to the neighborhood next month.

The Food
Not all of the food is "XLNT," but much of the Greek, Italian and American fare is hearty and appealing. Prices are low, and at dinner entrees come equipped with soup, salad, veggies and dessert. OK, the dessert may be Jell-O, but who's quibbling? Top honors go to the gyros, lemon- and oregano-spiked lamb chops, and other Greek-style odds and ends. Your dollar goes a long way with dishes like veal scaloppine, but burgers and sandwiches at lunch are also generously portioned and priced.

The Scene
The addition of patio seating has made this Willow Glen best-kept-secret even more convivial, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner.The pretty, airy dining room makes for fun people watching.
