Being a guy i admit its hard going into a salon. However let me exspress that the staff especially Angela is very professional and make you feel at home. She gets you in and out very quickly for a haircut. I have sent her multiple clients to her and have only heard great things. I recommend everyone try this salon out.
WARNING!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! – On July 1, 2011, I went to Shear Power in Ranson, WV. This was my second time going to this salon. This was the beginning of a 5 hour nightmare!
This first time was about a month ago, when I got a haircut, and color. I had asked for highlights, and to lighten my hair. While my stylist, Angela Surratt (the owner's daughter) didn't do a great job, it was not awful, and I was willing to return in order to recolor my roots.
July 1, was a nightmare. I returned to see Ms Surratt again. I immediately noticed that she could not find my client card with my specific dye colors written down. Instead of admitting it to me, Ms. Surratt went ahead and attempted to recolor my roots. When she was done dying my hair, she washed my hair, dried it, and began to style it. It was at this time that I realized that my roots were a completely different color than the rest of my hair.
It was at this point that I confronted her, and told her that my roots were not the right color. Ms. Surratt, then proceeded to attempt to correct her color job THREE more times! Every time she attempted to correct it, it got worse and worse!
In addition, every time she attempted to correct it, her attitude became worse and worse, too! She lost her professional demeanor, and became careless in her work. She became increasingly rude to me, ignoring me, and talking about me to other clientele. At one point, she actually struck my shoulder in order to get my attention instead of lightly patting me.
She also became careless in her work. After washing my hair, she would not even try to dry my hair before walking over to the dryer chairs. When I left, my shirt was soaking wet. In addition, she was careless while applying the hair coloring to my head. At one point, I realized that she had gotten lightener on my brand new Ann Taylor shirt. When I told her about this, she said, "whatever," and rolled her eyes at me.
At this point, the owner, Sherry Rotruck told me to get out of her establishment. I was shocked and embarrassed at how my hair looked. I had random color spots all of my hair, and the front of my hair was almost completely black.
After I left, I made an appointment at another salon, where the stylist had to spend almost 3 hours trying to correct what Ms. Surratt had done.
What was supposed to be a short, $50 appointment, became an all-day nightmare that cost me $175 just to correct what had been done to my hair, plus the loss of a brand new Ann Taylor shirt.
At no point was there ever an apology, or any attempt to resolve this issue.
