Personally, I don't think that Carmike Palace Cinema is a bad theatre. Looking at all the reviews I see that people have become too critical..... One person said it has a bad interior, but who really cares? You go there to watch a movie, does the interior really matter? Besides, I think the interior looks fine. When we go to see a movie that's where we go. Unless we feeling like staying in our own town to watch the movie. I could name plenty of movie theatres that are worse than this one. I do agree with one insult though. The prices are too high. We don't like buying food from them because it's too much money... But overall I think Carmike Palace Cinema is a good place to see a movie.

Not the best theater choice. – A previous reviewer said that this was a "new theater"?

I think they might have this confused with the fantastic new Wehrenberg Theater on Wylie Drive.

The Palace Theater has an unwelcoming interior, very little showtime offerings, and the popcorn is an off-putting mixture of powdered butter and cardboard.

This theater is, by far, the least appealing of the 4 in the Bloomington-Normal area.

Constomer Service. – The Costomer service at this particular theatre is horrible. Everything else is great, except the way they treat their customers. I went there with me famliy and i was called many innapropriate word by one of the employees, i think his name was Matt. One of the managers made fun of my clothes i was wearing as well. Like i said everything else about this theatre is great, except the employees attitudes.

great movie theater – I think that the previous reviewers had this theater confused with another one. This is a new theater and the seats are stadium seating and comfortable. This is a great theater.

Food is VERY stale – I think this is a good place to watch a movie, but I would NOT recommend buying snacks. I can't believe the stuff they actually get away with selling, I bought cotton candy for my son and we could not even eat it because it was so old. The thing that is irritating is good management knows to make everything fresh, daily. Now, IF we go to Palace again, we will not buy popcorn or cotton candy, which is a loss of business because with a family of four, we spend well over $30 just on munchies a few times a month.

Find another theater – This theater is the worst I have ever seen. Prices of the concessions are higher than you would expect. Also they do not carry the all the latest titles. They take cash and absolutely NOTHING else. No credit/debit or checks. They compensate this by providing an ATM machine in the lobby, but they cannot afford to keep it in working order, so of the 4 times I have been to this theater, only once has the ATM been working. Overall the place is very dirty and the seats are in horrible condition, most of them so bent down that you slide right of your chair. Also, sound and picture quality of the theater is poor at best and in some screens, downright horrible. New management has not improved the theater a bit. If you live in Bloomington/Normal is to wait for the fall when the new digital theater opens.

Going Downhill – New management is running it to the ground. Generic cups that spill, not serving Diet Mountain Dew anymore, inflated concession stand prices, overall dirtier than it used to be, didn't carry Hitchhiker's Guide, silly opening "here are your exits" slides, and AWFUL music.

Palace – Tuesday matinees popcorn is .50 in your container, no matter how big! Very few people at the theater at this time. Parking is great, and the theater is not crowded. I have been there many times with the most people there being 25 or so.

Palace – Tuesday nights bring your container, tuperware or bucket, any container and the popcorn is $.50 If you get their bucket it's 5 or 5.50.
