Multiplex and megaplex theater chain shows mainstream movies in a plush setting. – In Short
In 1920, Edward Durwood opened a single-screen picture house in Kansas City, Mo. Over the next 40 years, his company went on to pioneer the use of four- and six-screen theaters. In 1969, the company incorporated as American Multi-Cinema Inc. in honor of its signature multiplexes. Now, the company is known for theaters with 14 or more screens, as well as innovations such as armrests with built-in cup holders, stadium seating with LoveSeats, ATM-style ticketing and online ticket purchasing.
Movies with a View – One of the nicest AMC theaters in town. Not too big, only 14 screens, but not too small either. Good concessions, clean, light-filled, and spacious lobby, easy hallways to navigate, great stadium seating, friendly staff. Free (and covered) parking for 4 hours with complimentary validation inside. The stadium seating is comfortable and most of the theaters are of good-size (not too cramped). The best part is that right outside the theater entrance you have a view of Squaw Peak, Camelback Mountain, Biltmore Fashion Square, etc. It's a fabulous place to catch a sunset and see the stars twinkle at night! Within walking distance of many restaurants, great shopping, Starbucks, offices, hotels, and more. A safe, nice, beautiful area. Last few times I've been there the escalator area near the parking garage has had a weird sewer smell which was terribly unpleasant, but all in all, it's a wonderful movie-going experience.
