Going Downhill. Cinebarre's food has never been a bargain, especially the snacks, but today they hit an all time low of cheapness.

We ordered the "Big Lebowskis", which used to be a basket of breaded and deep fried pickle chips. This time it came as 4, count 'em f-o-u-r, breaded and deep fried wedges. Basically, it was ONE pickle, cut into 4 pieces, battered and fried, for $8.

Seriously? The $8 zucchini appetizer at Claim Jumper gives you a mound of wedges. Cinebarre gives you *four*. Two dollars per piece of pickle.

Claim Jumper is not a place you go for bargains, but they look downright magnanimous and Cinebarre looks decidedly cheap and chintzy. It's not like the food cost on pickles and batter is a big expense.

I brought it up with the manager, because I thought ONE pickle for EIGHT dollars was quite a rip off. She pointed out that the amount of pickle was about the same as when they did the chips. The "weight" was the same.

Yes, but there's a lot more surface area to bread with the chips, so you get more breading (and thus feel more full). But hey, they save the labor of having to cut and bread 16 chips instead of 4 wedges, and maybe 20 or 30 cents worth of batter.

When you're cutting corners on fried pickle chips like this, your committment to quality and to customer service is obviously dying.

Too bad. The Cinebarre was a nice place to go, but if they're going to start pulling these shenanigans to save a few cents, I just don't want to go back, because I'll always wonder what cost-cutting measure is going to lower their quality (but not their prices) next.

Fun for a night out with friends.. Cinebarre replaced the Mountlake 9 awhile ago, but some people still don't seem to be in the know. This is a certainly a step above your normal every day movie theater. Its a 21 and over establishment with a bar in the lobby. Movie goers can enjoy real food like pizza, burgers, even fried pickle chips while enjoying their movie, but don't worry there is popcorn with real butter for movie traditionalists. Patrons can also enjoy alcoholic beverages throughout the movie which makes this more of an exciting night out, than another boring night at the show. They even have their own special Cinebrew beer, but regular beers are available as well either by the pitcher or the glass. Waiters come along through the movie and pick up your filled out slips and return with your requested items and conveniently drop off your tab prior to the ending credits. Definetely worth checking out.

Mountlake 9'ner. Some people may say money can buy happiness, but it can't. But it can buy is movies which are fun to watch. And you know where to buy them, mountlake 9'ner. Watch them with a lovely ambience that is exceptional. Drive a small car because parking is is small supply. Live on the edge by being a tenacious movie viewer, and never go anywhere else but Mountlake 9'ner. Thank you!

No parking. Mountlake 9 has a lot of good movies...they have great selection of different kinds. But a big downer is that u have to arrive REALLY early to go see a movie because they have VERY VERY VERY limited parking spots. I've driven over there and had to leave a good amount of times because there is no parking, and security is nearby making sure people don't park in other store's parking lots next to Mountlake 9. The seats could be a lot more comfortable. Also, they don't have stadium seating, so when there's someone tall in front of you, you can't see. Whenever I've gone, it looks messy too...i.e., popcorn messes all over the floor, etc. Besides that, there's good employees, and good movie selection.

One of the best. One of the better theaters in the Seattle area, the Mountlake 9 an upbeat ambience, a huge concession area, the best and newest movies, and a large variety of types of movies. At one time, the theater has had childrens movies, drama, comedy, action, and "chick flicks." One I go to very often. The only complaints I have is that the seats are so-so in comfort, and the cupholders are a bit strange for some screens.

Best Movie Crowd. This has been my theater of choice since the day it opened in the mid 90's. It's in a great central location and the movie crowd is always good. The movie selection and sound are great. The seats could be improved, they are only good for about one hour of sitting. Watch a major premier here--be prepared for crowds, but isn't that a sign of a good theater? This theater is good for young and old alike. See you at the movies.
