Don't go here! – THIS PLACE SUCKS! I just left there and my car was broken into when I came out of the theater! I went back in and tried to tell a manager or something and the ticket guy directed me to the "security" guy. The only thing he did was ask me a bunch of dumb ass questions like "What window was broken?" and "How did they get in?" Idiot do I look like the person that broke int my car? I didn't even get to fully enjoy the movie because of the babies making noise behind me. Ugh, DO NOT GO HERE!
Not even worth the $4 – I bought a groupon for 4 movie tickets at $4 each to go to this theater. After using two of the tickets, I don't know if I will even use the other two.
First of all, the theater is old, dingy and the parking lot is kind of creepy and hard to get to. Not to mention full of potholes.
We went to get popcorn and got a kids pack- there's an ad on a tv screen at the concession stand that says 'upgrade to full size candy for a small charge'. We wanted to do that, because one person wanted the popcorn and another the candy. The girl acted like we were insane and stood there like there was nothing she could do- totally inept.
The theater seats were fair, and based on other reviews I didn't bother ordering food or drinks during the movie.
The groupon I bought isn't good for 'no passes' movies, which is practically everything they show. No I don't want to see Resident Evil...the other 7 movies they show are all 'no passes'. It's a terrible theater, don't bother.
rude obnoxious staff – Does not update restrictions on the shows, when questioned about it the staff yells at you and tries to embarress you. One young lady used a microphone to yell at me so loud i had to take my anti seizure medication. I have never been treated so rudely in a public place before. Beware this place they do not honor what they advertise and they are abusive to the public.
Fair – The floors are indeed sticky. I went to the 1025pm movie. Good thing I arrived early because unknown to me and the other patrons, the kitchen/bar shuts down about 1045. At 1030(movie had not even started), the server came around and said I would need to order anything further now and cashed out the check at that time. Hmm. defeats the purpose of the dinner/drinks/ and a show if you can't order anything past the opening credits. Food was fair for bar food.I did see the tape over some prices with handwriten prices written in. I did get to order one drink which did not come correctly and never was corrected. Bathrooms were usuable and I didn't see any cockroaches. I do believe I would recommend Alamo Drafthouse over this venue
Disgusting Food, Horrible Service and Management – This place is so nasty and disgusting. The food tasted freezer burned and the whole place had a bad smell. Even the popcorn was horrible. We had a pricing issue due to the wrong menu's being placed out. When we complained the manager, Rebecca Rangel, she made us wait in the lobby while she went and found all the menu's that had the wrong prices on them and collected them. About 15 minutes later she came back and gave me back money off of a discount cupon she scanned. She offered no apology. She tried to argue that the prices we were charged were correct regardless of the fact that the wrong menues were out. The "new" menu that she showed me had new prices taped over the old ones. Anyone could have taken that off. When I called the corporate office and spoke with "Gloria" she said they would look into it. I will never go to that theatre again and would urge everyone to stay away. Should I tell you about the time we went to see Horton Hears a Who and there was a bat in the theatre?...
This place was awful! – It was terrible. It might have been my bad luck but it was bad. Hard to find from the directions. Poorly lit parking lot. Nasty bathrooms. The servers and management were rude. The drinks (I had wine) were too expensive and the food was as well. My friend said when she went last time there were rodents. Luckily I didn't see any but be for-warned. Do not go here, go to the Bijou or the Alamo Drafthouse.
One of my worst movie going experience ever. – As soon as the trailers started something was wrong with the sound. The score sounded whiny, like someone was slowing down a tape player, and the dialogue was off.
Once the movie started the dialogue was on, but whenever the score came up it was messed up. Then about 1/3 of the way thru a speaker went out and started emitting a crackling sound every time sound came through it. Overall the worst sound I've ever heard at a theater.
Also our waiter wasn't the best, he messed up our drink order and forgot a side we requested. Also the menu says that the waiter will come with 30 min left to give you your bill. But 30min into the movie our waiter brought us ours and asked if we needed anything else. I said we were good for now, but might want dessert and he said he had to close us up now because he needed to go to another theater.
Well Santikos, you cost yourself some money with that, we were going to get dessert, but you didn't give us time. Maybe you should hire more waiters.
Overall very disappointing. I've been to several dinner & a movie places over the last year or so all around Texas and only one does it right, The Original Alamo Drafthouse in Austin. Their three locations are the only ones were it's all done right. Even the drafthouse in S.A. isn't as good as those three, but it's better than Santikos.
But I'll end on a positive note, the Santikos theater had regular movie seats, unlike the place I went in Arlington which had rolling desk chairs. It's hard to watch a movie when your chair has wheels and the floor isn't even. So Santikos, at least you have that going for you. Also the manager was very friendly and helpful when I complained about the sound, giving us vouchers to go to another santikos theater. It definitely won't be this one.
DISCRIMINATION!!! – I am a former employee, who left on good terms, over a year ago. I have been going to Rialto w/ family and friends to watch movies and spent ALOT of money there. I NEVER get discounts or anything free, except when I have earned a reward through the SANTIKOS REWARD program. I went to the movies for the 12:01 am showing of XMEN today with my 13 y.o. son, brother and friend. We bought the tickets at the box office at approx. 10 pm and was never told anything about not being able to watch movies at this theatre anymore, as a former employee. We all rode together in my friend's van, arrived at the theater at approx. 11:45 pm, the rest of my party went in to get seats and I went to Guest Services to fix my points on my Reward Card. The manager, Hugh, sarcastically told me that former employees are no longer allowed to view movies at the Rialto, as of Thursday; the same day that we bought all of the tickets. He would not explain why. He would not allow me to even go into the theater to get the rest of my party, since they were having to leave also, since we all rode together. My brother came out and inquired about the situation, stating that since their were NO signs posted and we were not told anything when we purchased the tickets earlier in the evening, that they should make an exception since we were already there, had seats and had already ordered food & drinks. Hugh, smugly replied that he would not and I had to leave. Before this last set of managers, because they have had a LARGE turnover of managers in the last year, I haven't had any trouble there. I take my mother, and kids there at least once a month and between movie tickets, food & drinks, spend at least $100 each time we go as a family. Even when it is just me, I still spend at least $30-40 on tickets, food and drinks. This is truly poor customer service.
Love It! – The theatre is comfortable, clean, and close to home! The customer service is great and in control. The menu has variety and the food is awesome!
Enjoyable Theater – I use to come to the Galaxy theater when I was younger and this past week was the first time I had been since they remodeled the place. Boy was I impressed. They have a fabulous lobby area. The theater is much better than the Drafthouse which have regular seats, the Rialto has stadium seating. The prices for the food was pretty expensive, but you don't have to eat there. You can enjoy the cheap tickets (cheaper than any first run movie theater in San Antonio) and have your drink and popcorn. It's pretty hard serving food and drinks in a dark theater, but I believe our wait staff did a decent job of not blocking our view, unlike other theaters.
