This is the original. One of the most fun, intimate venues on the strip with so much music history. They show most of the well known live acts of all the music clubs on Sunset. Their elevator is a trip.

not a culinary beacon, but it's conveninet – i wouldn't go here just for the food. in fact, i'm not sure you can! i think you have to have a ticket to the show. but ... if you are seeing a show and you are hungry, this is not a bad option. just be advised you can't see the stage from the eating area. prices are a little high for quality but this is HOB. full bar. servers are pretty hurried on busy nights. parking is crazy expensive.

Rip off – Went here to see a concert. Concert prices were very reasonable. Word of warning DO NOT PAY FOR A TABLE!! We got asked in line if we wanted a table for $150. 50 for the table and 100 of drinks. We asked if there was room for all 8 of us and were told "yes". Once inside we see that there is only 4 chairs. The service was terrible almost to the point of being rude. And since she had our credit card we were not "allowed" to order from the bar, only from her. There as also a 28 dollar gratuity added to our bill when we closed out which we were not told about. Our bar tab was right under the hundred dollars of our prepaid drinks so either she gets a 28 percent tip or we were tipping on renting the table for the night as well?????? Great looking place and the concert was good, customer service the worst i have seen, all about making the money.

I love this place – This place is great. I went on a relatively slow night and the crowd was cool. there wasn't a performance that night, but there were still enough people around that made it a pleasant experience. The drinks were less expensive then i expected, always a plus. that meant i got to drink a bit more and stay in budget! :D

Not the best place – So I went to go see one of my favorite bands not to long ago and the security there is down right strict . I was seriously scarred to have fun because at times it seemed as if though the security was just kicking people out for pitting and the bands were even encouraging the people to do so and my god they overprice the beer . I hated my stay I don't think I will return anytime soon .

The House Of Rules – I am a professional musician.

Performing on stage with a major act doing an hour and a half show to a full house afterwards I packed up my horn and looked for the bar to have a taste. I am told by this women security girl to go out to the outside patio to order a drink, so I did. After having my drink for ten seconds and paying for it I have learned that someone in the place may be having a heart attack. The cops show up and are walking into the entrance. I am then approached by the small security girl asking me for my drink. She explained to me because the cops were arriving - she needed my drink. I said ok- but I need seven dollars. Thats what it cost me. She refused to reimbursed me so I would not giver her the drink unless I was paid back for it. The big boys came over and took it from me and threw me out. I stood on the sidewalk waiting for my ride who who was still in the club. The security guys told me to move alone. I was on the sidewalk -public you know- I am a tax payer. I was told by them I would be removed from the sidewalk. Can you imagine? I just stood there waiting fro them to push me down the road or what ever they had in mind thinking all along that I may have a hell of a law suit with HOB . It's obvious to me that the very people that make this club happen - the folks at the house of rules really hate. This place is a kid's joint. What do you expect. Dan Aykroyd must have his share of problems with his staff.

SEXIST, RACIST, PIECE OF CRAP OF A PLACE! – I also had a bad experience there. The security was very rough and grabbing me wherever they could considering that I'm a girl. They kicked me out because i got shoved and accidentally bumped into one of the securities. I told him how I didn't do ANYTHING but he had NO RESPECT for me. I payed 25 dollars to go in and just completely got ripped off! I was seriously considering filing a sexual harassment suit against them.

THEY KICKED ME OUT BECAUSE SOMEONE PUNCHED ME IN THE FACE!!! – An intoxicated chick PUNCHED me in the face with her fist, and when I complained, they KICKED ME OUT. Even worse, they let the assailant stay inside. They are SEXIST, PREJUDICED, GUILTY OF OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE and ACCOMPLICES TO CRIMINAL ASSAULT AND BATTERY. NEVER STEP FOOT ONTO THEIR PREMISES IF YOU VALUE YOUR RIGHTS AS A PERSON, PATRON, AND A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR WHAT THEY'VE DONE. PLUS, THEIR

Live Music and Great Food! AWESOME combination – I am always excited to get "Two for Tuesday" concert tickets from HOB online because it means that I will be having the Voodoo Shrimp LOL

I enjoy the food at the restaurant at House of Blues but I only come here if I am attending a concert. The service is always very friendly and mindful of you getting out and downstairs on time for the event. Parking is a problem though my suggestion if you are coming for a show is to park at the lot on the corner of La Cienega and walk down to the HOB because when the concert is over you will have apprx. 45 minutes to wait for your vehicle to come up in Valet that's if you aren't at the back of the venue when the concert ends and if you are like me... you have had your butt FRONT AND CENTER to the stage :)

Now about this Voodoo shrimp it comes with Rosemary Cornbread and a really good cream based sauce and they give (or at least have been in the past) plenty of shrimp. I have went several times with other people who got something different and everyone has been pleased with their selections.

There is always a restroom attendant that expects to be tipped (this is LA) so be aware before you go tinkle :)

Good Food, Good Vibe – Restuarant - Read other reviews that knocked the food as mediocre and over priced. We ordered Flat Iron Steak Salad $13.95, Creole Shrimp on a bed of catfish and rice $16.95, and the Rib Eye $25.95 All really good and those prices didn't seem that bad. Beers were $6. Not cheap, but I've seen worse.

Perhaps HOB read some of the reviews because two other critiques were stories about cameras being banned and the problems that caused and not being able to utilize the Pass the Line benefit.

In regards to the camera issue, as soon as our driver stepped out of the car he was asked if he had a camera by the valet. A nice heads up. Don't take a camera. Cellphone with cameras are ok.. (Valet is $15, but saves the headache of searching for parking somewhere else. I heard it takes 30 minutes to clear out the cars. - We took a walk down the strip and came back to no wait. So be warned.)

As for the Pass the Line issue. Our host asked us if we had tickets to the show and told us to make sure our waiter signed the receipt. Then the first thing our waiter asked was if we had tickets and ensured we knew how to use the benefit.

(Pass the Line: If you eat dinner in the restuarant and have tickets to the show, you get to bypass the main general admission line, or after the doors open, you can go in the back way.)

The show - It was loud. But not abnormally so. We stood along the rail at the back bar for a portion of the show. Good view of the stage. Although there are pillars between the back bar and main floor, so if you're on the side and refuse to move, it's your own fault. We worked our way to the dance floor for the second and main band. No problem with views here.

Bar was efficient. A mixed drink with Grand Marinier was $11.50. Not cheap.

Atmosphere was very casual. Over 60% of the guys were in t-shirts. When I read HOB was all ages, I was still surprised to see a couple kids around 10 years old and quite a few high schoolers.
