One of my favorite places in LA. Just sitting in the courtyard by Chris Burden's Urban Light sculpture is inspiring.

Because of its beautiful artwork, sculptures, and aesthetics, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (particularly its Urban Light display) is one of the most romantic and illuminating monuments on Wilshire Boulevard.

With the incredible array of Exhibits, artifacts, permanent collections, the Muse + Film Clubs, I'm a proud Member. This is one of my favorites in LA.

Kids under 18 - FREE! Every month they also have Family Day where there is a great art project for kids that they do and have the choice to donate or keep! So much fun. My 6 year old loves it!

Cinephiles' best kept secret! The Tim Burton and Stanley Kubrick exhibits have made LACMA a significant cultural center for cinema in Los Angeles. The LACMA Film Series is run by Film Independent which screen important and rare films, usually always in a double feature. Tuesday Matinees show classic Hollywood films and are the best deal in town - $2 for LACMA members!

I love coming here during the day or at night--especially during the weekdays when it isn't super crazy.

You could spend the entire day here and never get bored. Take a picture among the light installation out front. Walk underneath a giant boulder. Enjoy some modern art. Have a coffee and a cookie while listening to live music or enjoy a cocktail in an Eames chair. There is more than enough here to entertain you.

This is my favorite museum in Los Angeles. I don't get here often but they have the best special exhibts. It's free for the last hour which still gives you time to see some of the space. Museum is well laid out. Don't even try street parking. Just pay for the lot.

LACMA owes me $26 – I can't remember the last time I paid more than $8 for a museum--and this was the LACMA student price. I went to see King Tut with 10 other friends. The exhibit was built upfirst, some general Egyptian history, then the life of the pharaohs, then King Tut, some Tut artifacts, a video speculating his death, then...the gift shop? I walked in and out 5 times and had to ask the guard--where is King Tut?! He said I was the 100th person to ask that; Tut was in Egypt.

What a tease--not one mummy. I wouldn't have minded so much except that's what we were expecting.

Citysearch Editorial Review – One of the most popular museums in the city, LACMA has helped build its audience with evening jazz concerts and a strong film series, including bargain matinees. No visit is complete without a wander through the park, where sculptures by Rodin and Calder vie for attention with a heartbreaking tableau of a doomed mammoth family in the famous tar pit at the neighboring Page Museum. LACMA's holdings span seven buildings and 20 acres in the middle of Los Angeles--enough could fill a dozen specialty museums. A labyrinth of galleries showcase strengths of the permanent collection, such as Japanese art, German expressionism, pre-Columbian art and costumes. And the Broad Art Museum features heavyweights like Jeff Koons, Ellsworth Kelly, Andy Warhol and John Baldessari. Touring exhibitions are often surprisingly edgy; it was LACMA, not MOCA, that hosted the Whitney's Mike Kelley retrospective. Other major traveling shows have included a history of the Egyptian pyramids and high-profile Van Gogh, David Hockney and Salvador Dali retrospectives.

Outstanding and provocative – A highlight of LA, goes hand in hand on the tour for artists, collectors and art passionatas. Always progressive, well-curated and beautifully designed. I enjoy almost as much as NYC art museums. Very very close.

Highly recommended – Contemporary complex of 5 buildings, very nice and broad exposition with good coverage for every period. The interiors and lay-outs show taste. Was surprised to see it in LA.

Nice art – I went here on the 2nd tuesday of the month. (Every 2nd tuesday it is supposedly free)It was a pain to get in! The museum staff said we needed tickets! You didnt need one if u came at 7:30. But that was only 10 minutes away! So we had to walk a whole football field distance to get tickets! But when we finally did get in. The art was very beautiful. However some of the paintings looked like they were painted by my 5 yr. old brother! They had some cool looking stained glass paintings that impressed me. Among other things.. The museum has many floors. But the employees like I said are mean! When its time to leave they make you feel oh so unwanted! Almost as if they got a gun to your head to get out!

Lunch at LACMA........ – I've finally found a nice place for lunch since our office moved from Pasadena. My daughter brought me here a few weeks ago and we had plenty of time to eat our lunch on the grass and then went in to see one of the exhibits.

Of course this is only reasonable if you have a membership and don't have to pay. But the membership is reasonable and you can bring a guest for free.
