Awesome music, very small – this place does play really great music however its so tiny that there is only like a 3 x 10 dance area. i have been here about 7-8 times and all have been great and fun except for this past weekend. the crowd is turny shady with guys wearing their hats off to the side and gigantic tee shirts. never was like this before so maybe it was just a single group of guys. good place for hanging with a few friends for an easy chill night.
Small eleclectic ambience. Not a great Singles Place – The music played was pretty good, being a DJ I did hear a lot of mistakes in the mixes. All the girls that were there, were basically with other guys. So this would be a great date lounge kind of place. Very low lit and secretive kind of atomosphere. The drinks were well made. We left around 11:30 wasn't too crowded. Drinks prices were also reasonable. Good bartender service. I ended up leaving early...it's 1 am now and I'm home.
great old school hip hop – if you're looking for a chill vibe with some great throwback hip hop, this is the spot. there's never a wait, and it's a pretty good spot for groups. the drinks are inexpensive, and don't be surprised if you find yourself saying, "heyyyy, that's my song!" similar vibe to barcopa, except a little bigger...
Really Fun Night! – We were celebrating my friends bday on a Sat night. I called in advance to reserve a table, did not have to get bottle service. Club got crowded and music got really good around 11pm. My whole party had so much fun. Drinks were about $9. Dj played all kinds of good music from current hip hop/pop, to rock, to reggae, to old school hip hop, to house. I would definitely go there again and celebrate a birthday there.
A slow start always ends with a strong finish... – If you get there too early, you should bring a magazine... it's practically empty. Don't worry; as the night progresses, The Room gets increasingly packed -- both the comfy booths and the active dance floor. Depending on the DJ, you can hear an evening full of hip-hop, dub, dancehall or salsa and Latin jazz. Don't bother to lean through the DJ's window to offer up a request: you'll be completely ignored. The cocktail waitresses are pleasant (especially the new Swedish one) and the drinks are stiff. Enjoy a booth or mini-couch surrounded by red candles and velvet curtains. Don't be intimidated by the "Reserved" signs on just about every table in the room -- this ain't Hollywood, kids. Just strut in like you know something, plop youself down anywhere you please and confidently order something that costs over $8 -- they'll immediately recognize you're not a chump and you'll be treated accordingly. The crowd is always a diverse mix, and the music never disappoints. If you haven't been to The Room yet, definitely go... just get there before 10:30 PM and bring about $50 in spending cash!
Good vibe, even better music. – My favorite lounge on the westside. I love their choice of music and the crowd is local, so its not a matter of who's cooler than the next person. Very relaxed and comfortable. And...great parking.
The best place you'll never find – Last Saturday my boyfriend took me out dancing. We decided to go to The Room because it is less than a mile from his apartment and "advertised" dancing (The Room doesnt have a website, nor does it have a sign out front). It was really dark inside and they had a bunch of drink specials with a pink theme ($8-9). The DJ was better than average and played an eclectic mix; starting with reggae-esque stuff, moving to house, breaks, and then hip-hop. However, the hip-hop he chose was a mix of new and old, spinning a minimal amount of the current overplayed club music. There was no real dance floor, but people just starting dancing around 11. About 40% of the people there were actually dancing, the rest just socializing with friends. It seemed like most of the clientle were 20-somethings out with friends to have a good time. We wont go back every saturday, but The Room will definitely become part of our going out repitoire.
GOOD TIMES!! – This is the place to head out to if you enjoy cheap $5 covers, unpretentious mixed crowd ready to mingle, moderately priced drinks and an eclectic music mix that makes you want to groove. If you call ahead, you can reserve the booths or the two private areas that flank the ends of the bar at no charge. Very crowded on the weekends!!! During the week, there is no cover charge and the DJ spins anything from acid jazz to top 40. Good time to relax and hang out.
no frills, student-friendly club – inexpensive and fun--people go here bc they just want to DANCE. i think i have been there a couple too many times though bc the dj's unaltering playlist is getting a little old. very old. esp. the last 30 minutes, i think he is purposely trying to kick us out with lame slow 70s songs that no one can dance to.
fun place for a bday or a girls night out. people are respectful bc if youre an bum, hey the room is only like 10x30, so you have no choice but to be respectful of people dancing in there. the doorman reminds me of clive owens and is a doll. nice bar staff (read: theyll let you get free tap water without a scowl).
The little known hot spot – I always make it a point to go to The Room. There is no signs, you walk thru the back, and its dark. Its the total hidden hotspot, a place to go to chill. The music is always great and the drink prices are about right for the area. Try to make a reservation to get a booth because it gets packed and the table is yours all night if you buy at least 2 drinks a person. I usually get a bottle to make things easier. The service is always great, and i would recommend this place to any newbie.
