Cheap chinese food. Steamed dumplings are juicy and so good.

Excellent is right. The dumplings are great and the prices are rock bottom. A great place to come off the streets for a quick bit and some hot soup.

inexpensive, authentic, good time – The Excellent Dumpling House is worth it just to say you've been there...enjoyable food, friend waitstaff, and you are treated well. This is a great place to stop by for lunch as you are perusing Chinatown's famed goods market. Recommended!

BEST SEAFOOD DUMPLINGS EVER! – Every time I come to New York, this place is a MUST. I don't care what the weather is like, I will make the trek down to Chinatown for their seafood dumplings. I have even had them packed in ice to travel the 6 hours home. They travel well, I might add!! Service is fast and the ingredients are fresh. The best!!

My favorite Chinese place in the city – The food is awesome, I'm a fan of the vegetable dumplings. The only real complaint I've seen about the place is about the service. I wait tables in a service oriented restaurant uptown and yes, it is off-setting at first to have them come up, expect to take your order after 30 seconds at the table, throwing down food, and dropping off the check as soon as the foods hits, but it's also a bit refreshing and sincere. In exchange there are not expectations of etiquette from the diners. You don't have to put your napkin in your lap, eat slowly, or hesitate from just grabbing one of the servers when you need something. I love it and highly recommend it.

I love my dumplings – I love their fried pork dumplings, man, those things are awesome. I've had some other entrees here and I think that they're probably just as good as any other chinese restaurant in the area but the dumplings force me to go to this place. The waiters aren't all that friendly and they just plop down your bill right as you're starting to eat which I think is kinda weird.

Excellent soup – The entrees here are mediocre, but I have nothing but good things to say about the soups. For under $5 you get a huge amount of soup that is filling and delicious. I'd recommend the grilled pork chop and double sauteed pork soups. In general, stick with the cheap stuff (soup, dumplings, "rice cake") and you'll be okay. It's crowded but I haven't ever had a problem finding a seat (I've eaten here late night, for lunch on a weekend, dinner on a weekday, etc.)

A popular dumpling house that attracts downtown workers and tourists. – In Short
A worn awning announces the restaurant's own estimation of its food and attracts a largely non-Chinese crowd of families, jurors and couples. The waitstaff briskly plunks down dishes that take alarmingly little time to make, which, in addition to dumplings, include sizzling platters of meat and lo mein noodles.

Excellent Dumpling Soup – I don't care for the entrees, but the chicken dumpling soup is delicious! It's listed under appetizers, but it's definitely filling enough to have as a meal.

Quick and easy – This small but tasteful "hole in the wall" has some really good stuff. I had the chicken dumpling soup which perfect for a cold day. Then I had a hot big dish of Sizzling Beef fried noodle with Black bean sauce. Hit the spot. Came to 11 bucks. Worth every penny. Small and you sit with strangers. Ugly decor. Mint green tiles. But who cares.

Sufficiently Mediocre. – The food was fine. The place was crowded. Not extraordinarily authentic, although more so than your average take-out joint. Sufficiently mediocre.

Nothing like a gem in the rough – The food is amazing, and all at an excellent price. I highly recommend the Excellent Dumpling House for all your eating needs in Chinatown.

quick and delicious – An untapped resource. Great food from a hole in the wall. The chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce on rice is perfect for dinner and lunch the next day

Wontons and Scalliion Pancake - the best – Cheap, delicious, and never suffering from the heaviness and greasiness of too many other Chinese restaurants - the food has the good qualities of expensive Chinese for a pittance.

It's only good if you're not Chinese – The people who gave Excellent "Dumpy" House ratings of 10 are obviously not Chinese. Only tourists eat here because they're fooled by the name "Excellent Dumpling House." Admittedly, the dumplings are pretty decent, but they're not as great as some people would have you believe.
